I kept it in a terrarium and it became a normal 🐸 despite everything. About a year afterward (I thought) it died, so I sadly put it in a shoebox in the shed until the ground thawed enough for a proper funeral but when that day came I opened the box and the frog was fine.

Fossil fuel companies knew their product was warming the planet as early as the 1950s and have suppressed every internal report that confirmed this because acknowledging that truth would lose a lot of powerful wealthy people billions of dollars in profits.

Worse yet, what excuse would you have to engage in military adventurism in the Middle East completely reshaping entire regions politics for generations making those same powerful wealthy men even richer?

They knew, the disastrous consequences of inaction has long been known, and they did it anyways.

A 3 degree warming scenario which is increasingly appearing inevitable would cause billions to die and billions more to be displaced. It would cause droughts and floodings and global crop failures. It would increase the frequency of wet bulb temperatures in which both heat and humidity combined are so high the human body can no longer cool itself with sweat. But we face dire threats to human survival even before this worse case scenario. Catastrophe is inevitable. There will be suffering, the question is at what scale of severity?

This is an unfolding ecocide, a climate genocide and those responsible should be held accountable for what should be considered an ongoing crime against humanity which has the possibility of becoming the worst genocide in all of human history whose scale of death would be incomparable to all those before it.

It is not a coincidence that anti-migrant nativism has become globally dominate over the past twenty years on the eve of such a disaster. The ruling classes of these nations are priming the public to accept mass death towards these eventual mass waves of climate refugees, which could one day include you and not just nameless people on news reports. This is an inevitability of the fossil fuel capitalism they built and wish to continue profiting from.

Remember that these people would not care if billions died as long as their temporary worldly wealth continues to expand before, during and after those deaths, that they would not care if their product killed you or someone you loved by making the world too uninhabitable to work and live.

How would you describe such people? That’s the level of contempt you should hold for them every day frustrating their efforts to turn this planet into a mass grave.
