If the R rated cameo porn is on Marvel’s “official” watchlist to prepare for Doomsday, then surely that means they can start including more Gay with a capital G characters in their films as they’re not pretending to make films for the whole family anymore, right?
I mean, that was their whole thing, the films have to be family friendly so we’ve not included major LGBTQ+ characters so that parents don’t have to explain it to their kids, right? But if those same kids are old enough to watch DP&W, despite the violence, swearing and sexually charged jokes throughout, then they’re clearly old enough to know the LGBTQ+ heroes exist too, right? You can stop putting them solely in the shows, claiming they’re important and then never tying any of the LGBTQ+ characters into those stories, not after they’ve come out at least, with the sole exception of Loki.
They can even start with a hero from that movie, and confirm explicitly that he is pansexual, as the hints and his flirting with men seem to have gone over peoples heads, with the belief they’re all “just jokes”. Yelena can confirm she’s aroace. Loki’s comment about “a little of both” can be explored, as can their genderfluid identity.
We can have gay Bobby in X-Men. Bisexual, genderfluid Mystique and Destiny. Angela and Sera can be in the next Thor film. Wiccan and Hulkling. Rictor and Shatterstar. Give Andrew Garfield his bisexual Peter.
If kids can watch a film full of violence, sexual jokes and swearing to prepare for this movie, then they are old enough to see LGBTQ+ characters being LGBTQ+ in the MCU as often as we see a 50 year old white man taking on a major superhero role.
mattfoggy fic idea
basically touch starved matt Murdock meets affectionate foggy.
the whole idea for this fic is that matt grows up extremely touch starved after his dads death, and when he meets foggy who gives affection freely, he becomes hooked.
after a hangout at josies, foggy walks a drunk matt home, worried that he wont be able to find his way home drunk, and matt realises that he can use himself being blind as a way to get foggy to touch him more.
matt basically gets himself into situation to need foggy's help ( holding his arm to guide him around unfamiliar places ect...)
i wanted to do some dramatic peak where when foggy finds out that matt is daredevil he is like 'then why did you make me guide/help you out all the time' and matt is like ' i just wanted you to touch me, I'm in love with you or whatever'
if you want to read my take on this its called the craving by anonymous on ao3 (yes the title is based of the twenty one pilots song thanks for noticing).
if you like this idea feel free to do your own take on it.
Tumblr...do you want to fucking die???
Why would this EVER be suggested to me?! I have this man's ENTIRE TAG blocked!!
I was so fucking close to deleting this app forever.
We don't hang ourselves from trees..
The Long Walk fandom if people weren't weird and racist towards Collie, Art, Pete, and Hank
putting those walking boys in a slice of life sports comedy would be fun i think
Hank Olson definitely puts
“NO AI FUCK AI DONT GIVE ME THAT BULLSHIT”
After every Google search or he has that browser that plants trees for every thirty searchers or so
thought about peter mcvries and teared up He Literally Tries So Fucking Hard 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Ray as an astronomer and Art as the astronaut he sends to space... much to think about...
Silver springs except its matt and foggy
Matt couldn't let foggy love him because its a sin, foggy despite everything had always loved matt until the moment he died.
Now foggys gone matt wonders what could have been.
"time cast a spell on you but you won't forget me. I know i could have loved you but you would not let me."
Just when I thought I was over mattfoggy as doomed lovers, the knife poetically gets twisted even more
1000% unrelated, but if you're going to NY ren faire tomorrow, come find me so we can yap
I feel like characters like Gary Barkovitch have a lot of potential in fandom spaces for them to explore him as a character, especially in situations outside the canon. But unfortunately, that opportunity goes away when you reduce him to one thing.
Some authors do a really good job of exploring the toxic masculinity aspects of him, loneliness, and struggles with how he presents himself in a group of all boys in a situation where they are forced to be men. MORE OF THIS. It doesn’t excuse his actions, but writing situations where where we get to see him breaking more and more until his ultimate death OR putting him in a different universe where he isnt walking for his life and we see him navigating with his aforementioned struggles but this time he has room to grow, I think is a good use for this character in fandom spaces.
Furthermore, the best part about the long walk is that a lot of the walkers backstories are vague. YOU CAN MAKE SHIT UP!! You can connect characters in ways that exist outside the canon!! Get fucking creative!!
Unfortunately, some of yall are racist, and need the sad white boy to get everything and put down the characters of color.
I'm sure this has been said before over the years, but I love the idea that whenever Sam starts finding Bucky all over Europe (because yes, that is canon to me 🥰), Bucky is constantly confused like "How?!"
And everytime Sam just says "A little bird told me."
Only for that bird to be his drone, Redwing.
Idk. Even if we can't have real bird Redwing, I like the idea that Sam treats his drone like a little bird. Gives it a little boop and kiss like he does to the boat. All intel he gets back is bc "a little bird told me 😉".
Bucky doesn't figure it out right away. But when he does..... hahaha.
Ren faire is Saturday, ive been sewing all morning bc I procrastinated working on my leg warmers :<
I dont trust the phrase "we're so back" when referencing movies. Like...back from what?? We're not in a good movie drought, like at all. The past 5 years have been phenomenal, and-
Oh you mean a white-led movie is doing really good and you're releived because you don't engage with indie movies, black or brown led stories, or a cast thats majority female or has lgbt characters. Oh.
Comparing Characters from the Long Walk Book and Movie
This is for fun, don’t come at me haha, absolutely no hate on any character, I love them all, except maybe book Garraty cuz he’s a freaky guy
Book Garraty vs Movie Garraty
- Book Garraty disturbed me so much. He was so freaky and gross, and like I get that it’s a large part of the deeper meaning and like the parallels to hidden homosexuality and violence or whatever, but he’s the kind of person I would avoid and tell all my friends to avoid.
- Movie Garraty was a million times better. He had a motivation for the Walk that I liked and seemed solid, and while not a morally good motive, it was consistent and made the ending more impactful. He’s also much nicer in general, helping Curley, Barkovitch, Stebbins, still not an angel but just better.
Book McVries vs Movie McVries
- Book McVries had a backstory and everything, but it was sort of evil. There’s probably more to his mentality that I haven’t dug deep enough into yet, but I hate what his book character did to Priscilla.
- Movie McVries has much more personality and life to him, and he doesn’t exist to be the ‘best friend’ or ‘lover,’ but I love how much he’s his own individual character! He’s smart, funny, not afraid to share his thoughts and he has a different backstory that adds up a bit better. Movie McVries is freakin awesome, I don’t talk about him as often but I literally love him
Book Stebbins vs Movie Stebbins
- Movie Stebbins is great. Garrett Wareing is great. Smooch to him, love that man
- BUT BOOKBINS. HOLY CRAP. He talks much more, he doesn’t just speak his mind about people taking shits on the road. He’s in the back, minding his own business, but he has a lot to say when someone (Garraty) interacts. He notices things about the system, people, and his whole reason for being there is so obvious and seen throughout the whole thing that he’s there because of the Major is so foreshadowed, and it’s literally killing him, physically and mentally, and his end is different. I could literally talk about him so so so much but sadly I'm a lazy chud.
- We were introduced to too much of him too late. He’s quiet and determined and a goober and an arrogant little brat and a little weirdo and I love love love him sm
Book Baker vs Movie Baker
- They’re both really good actually in their own ways. Book Baker has a lot more backstory to him, and many more interactions with different characters.
- However, I love Movie Baker so much! Idk he’s just the sweetest cutie patootie sweeter than mee-maw’s cookies, he wanted to make friends, and it doesn’t destroy his personality or make him less enjoyable. He’s just genuinely a good, social person with his own complicated personality and seeing him go was so much sadder in the movie.
- I’m doing whatever I can to not let Tut ruin Baker for me. Baker is perfect.
Book Olson vs Movie Olson
- Ben Wang did ASTOUNDING, he’s great, like genuinely I love his Hank so much (I’m also a fan of Ben in other movies so like, rahhh love him)
- But in the book, Olson’s death is just so much more dramatic and important. The suffering is so much longer, and more obviously agonizing, and his death has more to it. He actually climbs up the halftrack, takes the guns out of their hands, he is expressionless and keeps walking and the guards toy with him, and it’s just horrific.
- And the switch feels so quick too. In the movie, he keeps making jokes, just less and less till he’s fully catatonic. Book Olson knows something’s wrong, and it’s just in the flip of a switch, he’s in agonizing pain and begging for relief.
- So like overall I like his personality in the movie so much more but like, his importance like psychological horror wise I like in the book just a tad better.
Book Parker vs Movie Parker
- One, i will never ever see Collie as a big blonde guy. He’s Joshua, Joshua is him, Collie doesn’t look any other way lol
- Two, Movie Collie is just better, will die on that hill. You see him deteriorate, see his colorful personality under what some dumb down to be just anger. Movie Collie was friends with the others, and of course felt rage, but he also felt hopeless, homesick, and scared, and he was a smart and amazing guy we just saw develop a little too much too late.
- Book Collie didn’t really have that. He said a few smart things but to be honest, it wasn’t much, it wasn’t touched on much, and didn’t really contribute to the rest of the book. He was also just flat out rude most of the time, telling certain people to their faces that they should fall and die or something.
Book Barkovitch vs Movie Barkovitch
- Both have so much to them, I just think Movie Barkovitch most clearly had his arc.
- Movie Barkovitch is very clearly put as mentally ill. He lashes out in retaliation, provoked Rank in what ended in Rank’s death, and he constantly made ‘wrong’ comments that completely isolated him from everyone else.
- Book Barkovitch wasn’t put the same. In the book, he claims Rank provoked him, and he always hasn’t felt safe with people. He also had more moments of comradery, where every boy was in on something, even Barkovitch. Movie Barkovitch didn’t have that, and it made the whole thing much sadder. And like, I don’t see either as entirely redeemable, and Barkovitch clearly isn’t a good guy, but he also isn’t mentally well, and I also don’t see him as a villain because he’s not one, idk I have lots of thoughts about him I just wanna pat him on the head and drop kick him. Charlie Plummer is amazing.
Book Harkness vs Movie Harkness
- Book Harkness just had less going on.
- Meanwhile Jordan Gonzalez (who's literally freakin jacked, holy Adonis, chiseled by Michelangelo by the way) played Harkness perfectly. Maybe it’s just the fact he was manifested on a screen but like he just had such a personality in the movie, he was so sweet and likable, and he wore that goofy little headlamp thing. And then his ankle. Broke my heart, this poor poor boy.
So like overall the trend is that the movie won character wise for me? Except maybe for Stebbins, I love Garrett but holy crap we insanely missed out 😭😭
