is there a term for an alter who is basically just. the host before trauma happened? like, there’s the host who continued to grow as a person but then there’s another alter who doesn’t seem to recognize that trauma even happened and is basically just awsten before he went through shit and realized he was a system? /gen

hey people!! i’m gonna tell you about our headspace because i think it’s hecking cool and i want to talk about it!!

so!! from the outside, it’s a big castle on top of a hill. when you go inside, there’s an area with a big fancy couch and a screen, and on the screen is what whoever’s fronting sees. there’s also a big kitchen and dining room on the other side!!

on opposite sides of the downstairs area, there’s two staircases. if you go up one, you get to a huge hallway with a bunch of doors. each one is labeled with an alter’s name. if you go through the door, you get to an alter’s room, where they hang out when they’re not active.

if you’re fronting, you can only hear the alters who are downstairs, not the ones in their rooms!!

now the other staircase!! that one leads to dreamland. it’s a little place awsten created when he was younger. the room transforms into anything you want, complete with imaginary friends and everything. you can live in whatever universe you want when you’re in there. only some alters have access to it, we’re not sure why

Inner World

Some people with DID/OSDD have an Inner World, some do not. Memories of the inner world may be clear, may be nonexistent when fronting, may be blurry, etc.

There may be alters with the ability to change the whole headspace, alters without the ability to change anything, and alters that experience any abilities in between.

Some Inner Worlds contain multiple planets, galaxies, dimensions, etc. Some Inner Worlds may be a single room, or even center around a single object (example: a table headmates may sit at).

There may be magic, physics may function differently- anything the mind can conceptualize may exist/be true in the inner world.

Alters can have varied amounts of access to the inner world: the ability to go everywhere, being limited to certain areas, only being able to observe, complete lack of access, etc. Access abilities may change over time.

The inner world or parts of the inner world often indicate various things about the state of the brain. For example, the ability to access the inner world may change due to strong emotions, the inner world itself may change because of the needs of alters or because of strong emotions, inner worlds may have areas designated to hold stress and trauma, etc.
