Steven Yeun Drama ‘Minari’ Sets Limited Theatrical Release With Expansion to Follow
Lee Isaac Chung’s “Minari” has been one of the best reviewed films of the year, starting its journey at the Sundance Film Festival in January, where it won the audience and grand jury prize. One of the big questions has surrounded its theatrical release plan, and Variety has learned exclusively that the film will have a qualifying run in New York and Los Angeles on Dec. 11 with a wider rollout beginning on Feb. 12, which is the Korean New Year. The film will continue its expansion going into Oscar nominations, currently scheduled for March 15, 2021.
The film follows a Korean family in the 1980s as they move to a farm in rural Alabama.
The A24 film has received outstanding reviews thus far, currently sitting at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is proving to be a strong player in categories like best picture and director, and star Steven Yeun has emerged as one of the leading contenders for best actor. If nominated, he would be the first Asian American nominee for lead actor.

“Potterheads read a different book” challenge
maybe making consuming pop culture a huge part of your identity was never a good idea to begin with
I read that article. The article was thoughtful and good and ends with a plea to donate to transgender causes. Also people can be obsessed about any number of things. Sometimes it’s because they have ADHD or autism, but sometimes they don’t. And consuming pop culture forms both personal and cultural identity? There are people that form large parts of their identity around sports teams, or making movie-perfect stormtrooper armor. This behavior is normal and you can’t just call it pathetic because it’s something you personally don’t like, especially when the person in question understands the nuances of it and its problems. I am a transgender person for who Harry Potter was a big part of my identity and I am here to say that the cis person who wrote this article knows their place and knows where they are in all of this and understands that there are no easy answers to any of this.
smug ableist are once again mocking neurodivergent people for our hyperfixations, what else is new
Yeah but also don’t make fun of neurotypical people for having interests either. My grandma is as neurotypical as they come and she knows a lot about and is super into the sitcom Hogan’s Heroes. Human beings have interests. Human beings have interests that they incorporate into their personal identities.
could i offer you some round bears in these trying times?

who wouldn’t see this and then look deeply into their own emotional playing field to see what improvements could be made purely inspired by the vulnerable earth. this is the face of all literal gods
That’s actually called the Overview Effect- something experienced by some astronauts that makes them see that “from space, national boundaries vanish, the conflicts that divide people become less important, and the need to create a planetary society with the united will to protect this “pale blue dot” becomes both obvious and imperative”.

A cat waking up from surgery
I am losing my shit
everyone trying to get me in the uber
My cat Nosse had tooth surgery, and had a very strong reaction to the drugs given so he was high as a kite for a lot longer than expected. Apparently he was so desperately cuddly for people that they put him around the neck of one of the nurses doing paperwork, and he just hung there for an hour, purring like a chainsaw, drooling on her shoulder.
