There comes a time when we all have to say good bye
My death is imminent
Tears fall where no one sees,
A quiet ache in a hidden sea
No words can name what slipped away—
A love that never meant to stay.
“When a group of people is represented as having no history, they are denied any valid claim to the present.” ~ Erasing History: How Fascists Rewrite the Past to Control the Future by Jason F. Stanley
The first encounter…
Under a sky stitched bright with quiet lights,
He found her there in silver night.
“What’s your name?” he asked, voice low—
She smiled like something stars might know.
“Lucy,” she said, then softly sighed,
Pointing where the heavens open wide—
“Like, Lucy in the sky with diamonds,” she gleamed,
And for a moment, the whole night dreamed.
The rest is history…

“A longing caressed him, and it was so sharp that he wanted to cry to get it out of his breast…” ~ The Red Pony by John Steinbeck
We did all that,
Just to be strangers again…
“Fear festers in the imagination. It’s not fear’s fault. That’s just the way it’s made.” ~ The Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes
“There was one who was great in his strength, and one who was great in his wisdom, and one who was great in hope, and one who was great in love” ~ Fear and Trembling by Søren Kierkegaard
“One loves ultimately one’s desire, not the thing desired.” ~ Beyond Good and Evil by Friedrich Nietzche
“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.” ~ The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
“I realized then that a man who had lived only one day could easily live for a hundred years in prison. He would have enough memories to keep him from being bored.” ~ The Stranger by Albert Camus
“But pain is pain, and the importance of preventing unnecessary pain and suffering does not diminish because the being.” ~ Animal Liberation NOW by Pete Singer
“They knew now that if there is one thing one can always yearn for, and sometimes attain, it is human love.” ~ The Plaque by Albert Camus
A weary bee in fading light
seeks gentle shelter in its flight.
It finds a lily, rising clear
from muddy depths to meet it near.
In trembling petals, soft and true,
the bee feels hope begin anew.
