The Strange Tale
Deep in the past, right after the Dreaming Mind emerged, a story was found, buried deep underground, describing a tale some take as a destiny for the future. Though the true contents of the slabs are now certainly long-lost, unless they reveal themselves again, fables such as "The Lone Apprentice", "Memory Mirror", and "The Judgement of Heroism" are stemmed from the contents. Some common themes are compiled, such as the five-part storytelling of the slabs, one large story on each gargantuan stone slab.
Slab 1 describes a familiar tale of the Rise of the Dreaming Mind, although altered, and most scholars agree it describes the SECOND rise of the Dreaming Mind, though this only became common consensus after said second rise. It describes a band of heroes journeying across the land to seal the powers of the Dreaming Mind before banishing it.
Slab 2 describes a sequel to this tale, after the bonding of the heroes in the first act; in fact, this tale strikes fear into the hearts of man, worry into the angels, and hope into the fiends. It is a tale of Diab'alo's return, which would certainly be a large issue. It describes the sigils of hell taking root across the world, only for the heroes of the first act, now known as the "Dreamers", to fight back the armies of hell and destroy the Lord of Evil once more.
Slab 3 describes another strangely familiar tale of the Dragon King, Tyrask, returning from the dead, as many worried he may. Though his people had long left him, his raw dark power awakened and incited the corpses of many Dragons across the land, forming Dragon Wretches, which many think are simply tales combining two terrible forces into something scarier. However, the Dreamers fight a war against the Dragons, alive and undead, and eventually beat the Dragon King in a powerful form, known only as a "Tyrask Wretch", or "Tarrasque Wretch".
Slab 4 describes a journey to the lost land of "Horizen", a name granted by the fact that it only has been seen at Horizen Point, across the sea. However, they journey to reclaim the power of the Great Crystals, and seal the King of the Sun, the Golden King. They journey into the Fey Veil in the process, and make friends with strange beasts.
Slab 5 is a strange one; it stops halfway. All that could be deciphered is the return of something great, the fall of heaven and hell, and the Dreamer's stopping it.
It is said there are amendments to the Slabs, found nearby, describing a darker tale, where a member of the Dreamers 'went rogue', though no evidence of these amendments have been found.
Goblins
"Hey! Back off, pal!" - Goblin for 'We Surrender' (or so they say)
Goblins are a common, green, race of humanoid in Lanaria, often considered an invasive species, which seems rude as they ARE sapient. But speaking of rude, these little green men will break into your house, burn your crops, and eat your cat, because it's """funny""". They have questionable morals at best, and have a scrappy "work" ethic.
But don't blame them wholly: they are survivalists, because they are forced to be. Certainly, in the earlier days, they had no reason, but now they just try to survive the aftershocks.

On Wretches
"What... is that? No! NO! DON'T GET ANY CLOSER-" -Encounter with a Wretch
These horrible monsters wander the surface of Lanaria wherever people were slain by dark magic, usually in cruel ways. Appearing like hollowed out husks, gangly mummified corpses with a stretched, unnatural "scream" expression, these monsters have many variants. But today we talk about the Common or Desert Wretch.
Every Wretch Type has a specific two weaknesses; an element and a natural berry. For the Common Wretch, also known as the Desert Wretch, it is weak to electrical sources and blackberries, not being able to move near blackberry bushes, burning if forced into the region.
But don't relax yet; these monsters are otherwise nigh-indestructible, being able to withstand massive amounts of power, and reforming from their withered corpses if not exposed to the weakness. These creatures, despite their seeming slow, decayed and stiff nature, can actually move very rapidly and attack with terrifying strength, tearing through walls in some cases of Wretch Rage. Able to keep up with a running racehorse, and equally able to effortlessly bisect said horse, many have been slaughtered by these things.
They hunt in packs, so keep an eye out; where there's a Wretch, there's likely also more Wretches. Best way to avoid getting slain by one? Avoid sites of dark warfare and the wilderness of the deserts; they lie in wait to kill.
History of Lanaria
"The Dreaming Mind, ever more powerful by the second, began to reshape the land. Where there was once pleasant pastures and, at worst, the savannas of Meso or the mountains of Mejor, soon, instead, there was a massive desert, joining up with main Meso, a massive wall named a 'Mesa' after the country of its origin, and Mejor became Volcanis Mejor, a massive, ever-present volcano. Not only the East was affected, Nyklos was as well, the marsh becoming deeper and larger, and the snowy slopes freezing solid and rising, the edge falling miles into a dry ocean. As the heroes turned their faces towards the new foe, they too were shaped, into beasts and bugs, fish and birds, though some stayed human, heroes and the average people transformed, creating the 'Races' of the land beyond Human and Elvish. Unfortunately for the Mind, this only served to give them an upper hand, fighting towards the Mind, eventually ending in a mighty war to seal it. The war lasted 6 days. 6 days, and almost a million slain, but eventually, it fell. But they could not kill it; even at its weakest, it could not be defeated so easily.
Instead, they sealed it under their greatest temple, the Spirit Temple, and sealed its warriors away in the four temples at the corners of the sand, with the Champion who felled them, and gave their lives. The Dreaming Mind laid in wait for a century, but now, it returns.
The Tale, the prophecy of this land delivered by the gods, says that a hero will spare us all from it, will destroy it, so we lie in wait."

History of Lanaria
"The tide turned slowly but gradually, the Heroes forming insurmountable troops, even just a few being able to carve through the Draconic Forces. Even the Ancient Dragons, though they were able to take on a handful of Heroes, were no match for a fully-prepared party.
Eventually, the war brought itself to the capital of the Dragons, known at the time as "Drac'ar'ma". The amount of dragons was dwindling, rapidly, and those who did not die simply fled, hiding in wait for many years.
The fight with Tyrask, lord of Dragons, was long and brutal, many brave heroes falling in the process, the cruel magic of the Dragon Lord being beyond measure. But, mortal as he was, Tyrask could die. He began to fail, his magic running out, his grand bursts of fire dwindling to bolts of sparks, hardly felt by the encroaching crowd.
In his last moments, before he fell, Tyrask said one last curse upon all of mankind, who he hated greatly, who he hated more than anything else; 'I hate you. I hate you all. You haven't won, you will never win. I cannot die, I will come back, and you will rue the day I return, as my servants shall bring hell upon you.' And with that, one final blow was delivered, severing his head from his body.
Though the resulting blast caused a few casualties, and notably obliterated the Dragon Capital, leaving only the crater and bones of Tyrask, now known as 'Tyrask's Grave', the war was over.
But the Dreaming Mind wasn't content to stay. It fed off of the surge of hopes from the people, the newfound dreams for a future beyond the war, and it began to change the land, the people, and the history ever onwards."

History of Lanaria
"Though the war seemed hopeless, it was anything but. For the humans held out hope, hope for salvation, and dreamt. They dreamt, and prayed, and held out, for some kind of hero, some kind of warrior to protect them...
And their calls were answered. Something, now known as the Dreaming Mind or Diab'lanar, 'Lord of Dreams', awakened in the depths of the world, splitting the Earth with only its raw will. A ball of incomprehensible energy and thoughts, it granted wishes, wishes for a future, wishes for heroes.
And thus were born 'Heroes'; a special race of Humans (and some Elves), nearly indistinguishable from any average person, aside from key details; those transformed took up their old ways, and turned them into 'Classes', the 12 points of the Material Paragon, their skills but turned into powerful magic and immense power.
Heroes were able, alone, to empower themselves with 'Experiences', shortened often to EXP, and increasing in LVL, 'Lanarian Volatility Level', measuring their raw power. This was the last hope against the dragons.
However, the Dreaming Mind had no biases, so the Dragons were granted their will, too; becoming ever stronger, becoming immortal forces of destruction. Alas, the dragons, their hopes so simple, gained nothing but to become Ancient, an empowered state after growing old beyond years, their power reaching a peak. Even with this new power, the heroes were simply more willful, more able to fight for their cause.
And so, the war began to shift."

History of Lanaria
"The dragons, seeing the unformed land as an opportunity to hoard gold, fly free, and conquer, soon found themselves at odds with the settlers. Fire and arrows flew, death was rampant.
Of course, it seemed that the dragons were going to succeed, as they were dragons, mighty beasts of elemental mastery, with hide tougher than the strongest towers, older than even the greyest-bearded of mankind.
Headed by the Dragon Lord, Tyrask, they bore down on the humans, and all was as good as lost."

History of Lanaria
"Lanaria is a wondrous place, but do you ever wonder how it was created? Well, it was very simple; dreams.
Once upon a time, this land was unformed, a raw well of materials, an unimpressive land. Then, the people arrived, and began to form it. As they formed it, it remained flat and empty, a melancholic grassland, populated by sparse trees, peaceful hogs and rabbits, and, at worst, a snake or two.
Then the dragons came."
