Alucard smirked but resisted the urge to roll his eyes. “I have friends that would disagree but i’ll take the compliment.” Nodding along with her, Alucard ventured closer with a toss of his head, flaxen hair catching the light and appearing as if gold spun, before he stopped in front of her. “Delusional-” he chuckled gently “-i do like that.” Alucard was quiet for a moment, pondering what she said. Nodding once, paring it with a shrug, the vampire replies “-perhaps, but what on earth is truly real anymore?” He cocked a brow at her, topaz eyes bright and strained on her.

❝ They’re fools, too, then. The world’s full of them. ❞ While she knew he wasn’t her soulmate, more magic making that decision for her, she thought she could enjoy spending some time with him. He’d been one of the least frustrating people she’d seen around. ❝ It’s accurate. ❞ At his next statement, she chuckled and gave a slight shrug. ❝ I can’t argue with you there. But I don’t have to be happy about magic making another decision for me. ❞ There’d been enough of that already after all.

“Oh please-” he replied, yellow eyes narrowing in on her “-this is hardly a storybook fairy-tale and the idea of soulmates?” he snorted obnoxiously “-obscene, if you ask me.” He kept his eyes on her, flashing bright as a flare when the vampire tossed his head arrogantly. “-i take it our ideals are one in the same? Soulmates are a tedious thing.”

❝ You sound promising. Less infuriating than the sad sacks of absolute shit I’ve been dealing with around here. ❞ His words made her chuckle, glad that someone else actually had a brain. ❝ Obscene? I was thinking more of fallacy, idiotic, delusional. Obscene is far more entertaining. ❞ A brow arched as she nodded in agreement.  ❝ You would be taken correctly. Soulmates aren’t real. It’s just magic. Nothing real comes from magic. ❞

they all had a part to play it seems,  keep the balance and the balance of the world would remain intact,  it was a lot to ask of beings not thought to have gotten along—-  in ones that don’t,  putting trust that most others wouldn’t fuck it up,  was one of the things dean couldn’t grasp.  when it came down to it,  it was always hard for people to do the right thing,  the needed thing even when it was difficult.  a simple shrug of his shoulders,  “I guess,  I mean if people keep saying it enough,  i might—  might believe it but until that day,  i’m…  i’m just a guy.” though he couldn’t help but like the attention she was giving him,  a fan of the kind that gave the illusion him and his counterpart were the only ones who mattered in that moment.  he leans forward himself on the table resting his chin upon his hand, tapping his fingers to his cheek.  “been doing it every night.  I heard some people already had theirs,  to be honest, i don’t know if i’m relieved or disheartened.”  smile coming to his lips,  “yeah? what other kind of entertainment you into?”

That they did, and she had been incredibly frustrated with it. Especially since so many hadn’t seemed interested in interacting outside of their soulmates. As if that mark meant that their soulmates were the only ones that could entertain them. Was she the only one not frantically searching for some marking or a stranger bearing it? Well, apparently not, if the man before her was any indication.  ❝ I can’t tell if you’re wanting to hear people say it more to feed your ego, or if you truly do believe that you’re not special. ❞ The latter would astound her. How many had Death personally chosen not to take? And for him to have the experiences that he apparently had. . . There was something there. Whatever he was, he was proving ample entertainment for Yen in that moment, which was all she asked of her company.  ❝ Have you? And here I was hoping that you weren’t one of the ones that was frantically searching for one. ❞ His following question had laughing again. It wasn’t a common thing in the least, especially for a human that she wasn’t just laughing with to appease. ❝ I can think of a few things. Not sure if this a suitable environment for them though. ❞

“mm,  especially now,”  he parrots back,  how many  especially nows he’s been through felt like quite the exuberant amount,  ones he’d rather not think about.  it’s been a while since he’s experienced one but it was bound to happen.   a higher form of beings taking power away,  imposing some form of order in the chaos laced world.  been another extended amount of time since he’s killed without cause,  close to above a decade.  it wasn’t how john tried to make him see now–   no, things were always shaded grey,   no such thing as a perfect world,  as paradise as much as he wanted to hope this would lead into.  “she hasn’t killed me no,  in fact,  she’s refused to kill me,  has to mean something right?   and nah,   still got no mark on me unless its in some ridiculous place like the bottom of my foot.”  he laughs, as his second thought had been in the inside of his buttcheeks for the even more ridiculousness of it.  a smile soon after to her words of truth,  “I get that a lot too,”

It amused her when he reiterated her statement, at least she’d been correct. As if she could be wrong about such things. While she’d not been through nearly as many as apocalyptic events as he had, she wasn’t bothered by the world ending. All she could do was her part to make sure that didn’t happen. Yennefer just didn’t have to be happy about it.  ❝ Special, aren’t you? ❞ Yen murmured, leaning forward to rest her elbow on the table between them, chin perched on her fingers.  ❝ Well, you could check yourself over later. Entertain me, and I may just help you, ❞ she replied with a wink. Another laugh was drawn from between her lips at his reply to her statement of how he didn’t bore her. ❝ I don’t think that I’m surprised to hear that. You don’t seem the boring type. Perhaps you can entertain me until I’m needed. ❞ Which, if rumors were true, she wouldn’t be without a task for long. They’d need to put up barriers to keep the nightmares out, something that she was more than capable enough, though she’d prefer the help of more of her kind.

“I expect my death any day,  it could happen.”  its a disposition he takes,  that he believes his death will come with a gun or a blade in his hand,  that he’d never see the day a cease fire would happen—  and he doesn’t believe it could happen,  some beings just had to kill to survive it was the balance that had to be there.  “yeah there was,  the original.    kinda,  I don’t think she likes me that much,  I could be wrong though.” a shrug, “ she just wants to do her job and that I can respect.”

❝ I suppose so. Especially now. ❞ With the worlds ending and even more dangerous entities loose and able to interact, death was definitely a given. Just exploring she’d had to tread carefully, not to trip over the dead creatures strewn about and left by some careless hunter. If they weren’t careful, the Council would definitely make them part of their executions. While they hadn’t actually performed any, she was just waiting for the day, to watch the body fall and a life taken away for insubordination. Seemed wasteful. ❝ She hasn’t killed you or forced you with a soulmate yet, has she? ❞ His expression of respect for Death had her laughing before she could stop herself, surprised that he was able to pull such mirth from her. ❝ Here I thought you’d bore me, ❞ she admitted, honest more than meaning to be hurtful.

“I don’t doubt it. humans like me are all young in the grand scheme of things.”   he wants to make some comment on how she looks good for her age,  but somehow he doesn’t feel like he needs to.   she reads if his instincts are correct,  a women he’s typically attracted to.   strong,   fierce,  independent with flaws, vulnerabilities,  damaged,   in a way like him,  if only minute.   “well for instance,  the previous death let me take his ring and basically be the reaper god for a day, true story,   I offered him pizza.”

❝ Your lives seem fleeting, yes. ❞ Yennefer was surprised at how blasé he was about the whole situation. A brow arched as he talked about the previous Death, how he’d plied Death with food. It was an interesting dynamic. ❝ So there was a Death before the woman. Are you as familiar with her? ❞ It wasn’t often she found humans as anything more than frustrating or easy pawns. But Dean was interesting, especially with the very casual interactions he seemed to have with such great powers. And there was no denying that he was attractive, humans did make fun play things from time to time as well.

“y’know thats one of the few times I’ve ever heard someone not refer to me as old.”   though he’ll take what he can get,    he’s old in terms of hunters,  expanding way beyond the average life expectancy of what hunting had brought,  “and honestly,  at this point i’m not even sure anymore.  I’m skeptical of this whole thing but stranger things have happened.”

❝ Trust me, you’re a child compared to the years I have seen. ❞ It was an amusing thought, that he could be considered old. Perhaps by human standards, and he did look older in appearance than her, but she knew the truth.  ❝ Such as? ❞ Now, he had her interest. What strange things had he seen? After all, she knew there were curiosities in the other worlds she’d never had the opportunity to glimpse, even in all her years.

The woman’s cruel words made her stop, her face falling as she took in what the other had to say. “But I trust that they’re going to know who’s right for me. I made the wrong choice before, or I think I did. I just think that I can put faith in whoever they choose. What does it hurt to try?” Eve took a long look at the other woman, a soft smile playing over her lips. “It’s okay to be scared. I know that whoever they find for you will be perfect! If I’m being honest with myself, I’m actually a little nervous about the whole thing. But it’s still just so exciting. Even with the magic.”

❝ Will they? Or would you have been better off figuring that sort of thing out for yourself? You realized you made a mistake before, why wouldn’t you realize it again? ❞ A snort of derision escaped before Yennefer could stop it. The other woman really was deluded. If only youth could be to blame for how naïve she was, but in Yennefer’s eyes, there was no excuse. ❝ You think I’m scared? That’s rich. Scared was when a stranger showed up to buy me from my father for less than a pig was worth, taking me away to completely change me from what I was. It made me stronger, wiser. There’s no fear left in me. Live long enough, you won’t have any either. If you make it that long. ❞

❝ Didn’t really ask. ❞ The sorceress shrugged as she sat after reaching over the bar, taking the nearest bottle and doing her best to imbibe as much as she could. If she could scour the soulmate mark from her body, she’d be far happier, but that didn’t seem to be possible at the moment. So drinking herself into a happier stupor was the far better option. ❝ How pathetically human of me is it to sit here and drink the apocalypse away with you as my only choice in company? How the mighty have fallen. ❞

“Soulmates? How exciting!” Eve squealed, bouncing slightly on the balls of her feet. “I knew Adam wasn’t mine. I can’t wait to find them! Though I think I know who mine might be,” she sung softly to herself.

❝ Your excitement is nauseating. Don’t you care that it’s not even your choice? They’re using magic to pair us with some idiot they think is perfect for us. It won’t be real. It’s never real with magic. You’re fooling yourself into being happy over something that should make you angry. ❞ Shaking her head, Yennefer couldn’t help the sardonic laugh that escaped her throat, not that she cared to try and hide her disdain for someone that was so happy at their choice being taken away. If it weren’t the end of the worlds, Yennefer would’ve been very far away and refusing to take part in the farce.
