NY Teen Accepted Into All 8 Ivy League Schools
Harold Ekeh, a Nigerian-born senior at Elmont Memorial High School in New York who came to the U.S. with his family at age 8, conducted groundbreaking research on Alzheimer’s in his high school’s lab, founded a college mentoring program at his school, and became the vice president of the Model UN team, has been accepted to all eight ivy league schools and 13 colleges in total.
“I’m torn because each school offers something different. I want to go to a good school where I can study hard, but I also want somewhere where I feel comfortable; somewhere I could imagine calling home. I am leaning towards Yale. I competed at Yale for Model UN, and got to see how inspiring and interesting it is there. [My four younger brothers] are going to beat my accomplishments. They were very excited by the news. They look up to me and follow my lead.”
He aspires to be a neurosurgeon to study Alzheimer’s, a disease his grandmother suffers from.
