kpop group (generally):starts off as a trainee during infancy. practices 18 hours a day. comes up with complex dance moves. sings their lungs out. misses meal. goes without sleep for few days. sweats a bucket on stage. rips pants on stage.gets screwed over by company. gets screwed over by managers. gets screwed over by fans. gets generous amount of hate. performs like there is no tomorrow. comes down from stage soaked in sweat and humbly say that they are still lacking alot and will work harder in the future.

my mom found out i was a lesbian when i was 16 years old. she said and did a lot of hurtful things, but the thing that cut me the deepest was that she told me, point blank, “you will never be happy.”

and i absolutely believed her. why wouldn’t i? you don’t see lesbians happy and alive on television, in the media, you don’t see broadcasted images of our happiness celebrated the way heterosexual couples’ are, you don’t see anything good. all you see is our pain and anguish.

and that’s a huge part of why i’m so depressed about the ~dead lesbian~ trend on television lately. please, for the love of God, give us something to look forward to. stop getting off on our suffering. there are girls out there already hearing from their families that they’ll never be happy – would it kill you to prove them wrong? images of two women marrying each other & growing old together are so important. we need to show young lesbians there is happiness out there for them.

around age 17 i attempted suicide. i really didn’t think i’d make it past 25 because i was so god damn miserable & was enduring horrendous homophobic abuse from my mother. how many girls out there went through the same thing i did and didn’t make it out alive? too many.

lesbians deserve happiness, and we can find it. we will all find it. and we deserve to see that. we deserve lesbian weddings on television, lesbians raising children together, lesbians that are happy in their old age.

my mom told me at age 16 i’d never be happy and it has taken me over 8 years to stop internalizing that message. we deserve better. we deserve to be happy. we deserve to be alive.

i swear i am gona effin flip if i get another notification from BTS on my V app..
