What the HELL did they do to the White House website?
Okay we’re going through this bit by bit.
First of all, this is the first thing that pops up when you visit the website:
But wait, it gets worse.
Once you get in, you see that Trump’s inauguration takes up the entire main page. You know what? I’m fine with that. I mean it makes sense.
What I’m not fine with is this:
As of yesterday (I’m on the Wayback Machine), these are the issues that the Obama Administration listed, leading to pages which went into detail about these issues and what the Administration was doing about them.
Again, that’s from the Obama Administration.
This is the current Issues Tab under the Trump Administration:
No, I haven’t cropped it. That’s it. That’s the entire list. All of those are the issues that Trump’s Administration cares about.
The civil rights page? Gone. Climate change page? Gone. Health care page? Gone. Disabilities page? Gone. It’s all gone. Everything is gone.
They also completely took away all of the pages on Obama’s initiatives, all of the pages on internships and involvement in the White house, all of the pages on different ways to protest (other than the We The People petitions), and for some reason, they even took out most of the pages in the history section. The famous virtual tour? Gone. A detailed history about the architecture, the decor, even theee customs and traditions? Gone.
But here’s the best part.
Most of the ‘Briefing’ section has been cleaned out as well and the tab for weekly addresses has been completely removed.
Well isn’t that just…disturbing?
It’s worth noting that this happens every presidency, the Obama administration’s whitehouse.gov will be archived and none of this was taken down by Clownstick himself. Not that it makes me feel ANY better about the next four years, but for once it’s not on DOFUS
So just for you, I spent the past half hour tediously searching through the Wayback Machine.
This was the page Obama had right after he took office after Bush:
Notice how, even though the website changed overnight, he still put in a huge list of issues including virtually every one listed on the website yesterday?
But wait, there’s more.
I went back and looked at how Bush’s page looked before the Obama Administration changed it. And guess what? Bush had an entire list of issues that resembled the ones listed on the website yesterday.
But wait!
There’s more!
Back when the Internet was new and the webpage was just a bunch of text, Clinton had an entire list of issues like the ones listed on the website yesterday.
So, no, this isn’t something that always happens. The website changes but the issues have always stayed the same and they’ve always been prominently displayed.
Until now.
I thank you for your trouble, and the unsettling info. :)

Oh my god!
It’s 1:04 AM and I just realized something.
Remember that episode of Legend of Korra where Bryke showed us how Wan became the first Avatar by stealing fire from the lion turtle, accidentally letting Vaatu go, and going on a lifelong journey to master the other elements while trying to prevent a war between the spirits and the people from his village who were inspired by him to also learn how to ‘carry’ fire?
Do you know what this means?
It means that long ago, the four nations lived in harmony.
Then
everything changed when the fire nation attacked!
Bonus:
Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them:
Thanks Shyamalan, another movie demonizing mental illness is just what we needed.
so good to finally know what was going through victor’s head in this scene
I have a tab open of a picture of Harriett Tubman that I switch to whenever my parents walk in and think I’m doing homework.
I think I’ve been doing it since fifth grade idk why they haven’t caught on I just stare intently at the picture until they leave.
Parent 1"Honey, he's just looking at that picture again" Parent 2 "just leave him alone hon, I'm sure it'll be fine"
My lungs are in agony xD
But I bet most of them don't use an apostrophe to make a plural.
i really hate when older people be like “you too young to be tired” like ok bitch shut up you too old to not be dead yet but here we are.
Warning, recent studies suggest that most, if not all water contains Dihydrogen Monoxide. Please be careful, as over consumption can lead to the Dihydrogen Monoxide (along with some other chemicals) to leak out of your skin in certain conditions, and even escape through your urine.
maeril:
Hi everyone! This is an illustrated guide I made as part of my co-admining work at The Middle Eastern Feminist on Facebook! It will be published there shortly. The technique that is displayed here is a genuine one used in psychology - I forgot the name and couldn’t find it again so if you know about it, feel free to tell me! Some could say: “Yes but you can use that technique for instances of harassment other than Islamophobic attacks!”, and my reply is: Sure! Please do so, it also works for other “types” of harassment of a lone person in a public space!! However I’m focusing on protecting Muslims here, as they have been very specific targets lately, and as a French Middle Eastern woman, I wanted to try and do something to raise awareness on how to help when such things happen before our eyes - that way one cannot say they “didn’t know what to do”! I’d like to insist on two things: 1) Do not, in any way, interact with the attacker. You must absolutely ignore them and focus entirely on the person being attacked! 2) Please make sure to always respect the wishes of the person you’re helping: whether they want you to leave quickly afterwards, or not! If you’re in a hurry escort them to a place where someone else can take over - call one of their friends, or one of yours, of if they want to, the police. It all depends on how they feel! For my fellow French-speakers: I will translate it in French and post it on my page as soon as I can :) Please don’t hesitate to share this guide as it could push a lot of people to overcome bystander syndrome!! Lots of love and stay safe! PS: I you repost this cartoon of mine on twitter or instagram, please add me in the post so I can see it, with @itsmaeril :)
When I was beginning to discover languages, I had a romanticized view of words like “speak” and “fluency”. But then I realized that you can be nominally fluent in a language and still struggle to understand parts of it. English is my first language, but what I really spoke was a hybrid of teenage slang and Manhattan-ese. When I listen to my father, a lawyer, talk to other lawyers, his words sound as foreign to me as Finnish. I certainly couldn’t read Shakespeare without a dictionary, and I’d be equally helpless in a room with Jamaicans or Cajuns. Yet all of us “speak English.” My linguistics teacher, a native of Poland, speaks better English than I do and seems right at home peppering his speech with terms like “epenthetic schwa” and “voiceless alveolar stops”. Yet the other day, it came up that he’d never heard the word “tethered”. Does that mean he doesn’t “speak” English? If the standard of speaking a language is to know every word — to feel equally at home debating nuclear fission and classical music — then hardly anyone is fluent in their own native tongues.

So proud of my mother for doing her own research after I sent her that meme. A sign she hung in her car window.
Stay woke
Is this true?
Not only is it true, it gets worse. The Susan G Komen For The Cure Foundation has actually successfully sued “competing” charities, because (paraphrasing) their “message or branding was infringing.”
You read that correctly: they took money that people had donated to cure cancer, and hired attorneys with it, to sue ANOTHER group of people trying to find a cure for cancer, who, in turn, had to us their donated money to hire their own legal counsel to defend themselves.
Yeah signal boost because not enough people know about this and seriously FUCK SUSAN G. KOMEN THEY ARE THE ACTUAL WORST

Reblog every time I see it. Roughly once a month.
Also please never forget the pink fracking drill bit
that’s right fracking you know, a process using chemicals known to cause cancer that leech into the water supply

It’s that time of year again, please remember Komen is the actual worst
Komen For The Cure is pretty much awful.
My mother died in 1996 from breast cancer. Most cancer charities are scams, in that people throw fancy parties and get rich off them and very little money goes into research or support for patients. Here are some vetted cancer charities that get good scores on Charity Navigator and pay medical expenses or fund research:
Breast Cancer Research Foundation
Cancer Research Institute
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Do not touch a person’s wheelchair without their permission.
Do not touch a person’s wheelchair without their permission.
Do not touch a person’s wheelchair without their permission.
DO NOT TOUCH A PERSON’S WHEELCHAIR WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION.
DO NOT TOUCH A PERSON’S WHEELCHAIR WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION!
A person’s wheelchair is basically an extension of that person’s body and counts as that person’s personal space. Touching a person’s wheelchair, even if it’s just leaning against their handles, is not cool and trust me when I say that, speaking from experience, it is extremely uncomfortable.
I know I just made this post but I need to add something:
Touching/leaning against the wheelchair handles is not only uncomfortable because of the invasion of personal space.
It’s also uncomfortable because you have now put yourself in the position of being able to completely control my every movement. Whether you actually intend to push me or not, I now have to sit on edge, ready to throw on my brakes in case things take a turn for the worse.
It really is terrifying.
Addition: DO NOT TOUCH THEIR CANE WITHOUT PERMISSION DO NOT TOUCH THEIR WALKER WITHOUT PERMISSION DO NOT TOUCH THEIR CRUTCHES WITHOUT PERMISSION
NEVER TOUCH A MOBILITY AID DEVICE WITHOUT PERMISSION
mobility aids include electric scooters and other similar devices! don’t fucking touch them without permission.
YES, GOOD!
As someone who is not, nor has ever been disabled, is this really a problem? It seems like common sense that there would be a serious no-no involved there... maybe that's just me but damn, keep your hands to yourself people.
I don’t wanna hear a damn thing from white people about “accepting our new president” after the way some of y'all reacted when Obama was elected.
The biggest catfish of all time.
