Are you ever planning on updating Aphelion? It's been such a fantastic story so far.

Hey, sorry anon! My laptop broke about a month and a half ago and we're still struggling to find a way to restore the files. (which is HORRIBLE because it was DONE and i was just EDITING and #$%^&.) I'm hoping to make the rounds to various computer specialists this week. For living down the street from Twitter, there is an unnerving amount of ineptitude when it comes to fixing my laptops in the Bay.Soooo while I was busy not having regular computer access: I got engaged! =D My big news for the moment.

You might not be able to see it due to my crappy phone camera, but I was watching Iron Man again, and I noticed this.

This is a party for rich people, but everyone tips one-dollar bills. When Tony is ordering him and Pepper a drink, he tips the bar a one-hundred.

People say Tony is an asshole, and he is most of the time, but some of the small things he does, without mention, shows how good of a person he is.

literally pulled a fucking Bourne Identity on her parents and managed to set them up in fucking Australia (jesus christ she literally made it so that she NEVER EXISTED wtf that’s so fucking 007)

Convinced the Ministry of Magic to give her an incredibly dangerous and volatile device that allowed her to ALTER TIMELINES COMPLETELY (just because she was so smart, literally, that is the reason, her “potential”) 

Has enough basic survival skills and badass magic to literally disappear to the middle of nowhere and flourish AND figure out Voldemort’s plot with Harry 

Hermione also figures out not only what Voldemort’s plan is, but generally how to beat it, WAY BEFORE VOLDEMORT EVER DOES. Why? because she is just that much smarter and better at magic than everybody else

in conclusion: Voldemort wishes he could be as awesome as Hermione, that’s why he wants to kill her so bad.

Summary: Hermione becomes friends with the quiet young man who shares her corner of the library. It changes things - right up to Avengers, Ragnarok and beyond. Starts pre-Thor during HP&PS and moves into AU versions of movie! and comic!Marvelverse.

New chapter folks! We finally have another interaction with Loki, and Hermione gets a chance to ask some of those persistent questions of hers - even if he's not really giving straight answers.

I'm still a little uncomfortable with this chapter - the pace doesn't quite go at the clip I wanted it to, yet I also needed to spell out a fair amount of Hermione's inner monologue for the readers to start being able to make sense of things. Consequently, it doesn't have quite the emotional intensity that I wanted: I want Hermione to be confused, but for the readers to be able to read through that, and I spent a good chunk of the last few weeks hitting my thumb instead of nailing it. This is probably something I'm just going to need to come back to later; it's been simmering long enough and has gone through multiple revisions, and I do want it to be simply finished. Any and all thoughts are, of course, appreciated!

All the same, the story is starting to split open - and hopefully all these little threads I started weaving in the background way back when for attentive readers are going to start coming together. I hope y'all were paying close attention. ^.^

the idea of a fandom is that you are more than a passive consumer who accepts things mindlessly

idealizing things is unhealthy and gives you a skewed view of reality
