So I’m a bartender, and a couple of my regulars who I haven’t seen in a minute came in, and the wife said her husband had the sticker- for my web comic out in their house that morning and she hadn’t seen it yet, so she read my first chapter this morning, and that made me really happy. And also they are both so nice and sweet and I like talking to them so that made my day.

I dug out my old Gameboy Advance and have been replaying Pokémon Leaf Green. Aside from Ivysaur and Butterfree I've been trying to use some Pokémon in my team that I've never really used before, and it's been very fun and relaxing. Life has been kind of a lot lately.

Gameboy Nostalgia - Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire

I would like everyone to know that in 2003 when I was in middle school, a girl in my class had the pink Gameboy Advance and I thought it was so awesome that I wanted to have that one too. I somehow convinced my mom to take me to Target to buy one, and I actually remember getting home with it, and taking it out of the box for the first time, barely having gotten in the front door of our house. I thought it was so cool. It was perfect!

But I had hardly even used it when I realized if I brought it to school I would absolutely get bullied for being a boy with a pink Gameboy, and so… I decided to paint it black with acrylic paint.

22 years later, today, I used some nail polish remover to get that black paint off as carefully as I could (and as best as I could), and I played Pokemon on my pink Gameboy.

I think doing that healed a little part of me.

It’s not perfect looking, but that’s okay. I always hated seeing that black paint I put on it. Also, it’s so wild that screens without backlighting was the norm. No wonder our parents told us we were gonna kill our eyes by staring at these things!

I have been dying to do some fan art lately. I really want to do a fan-fiction mini comic set in the Alien universe, based on this really vivid dream I had back when I was playing Alien Isolation.

Also, I just re-read His Dark Materials for the first time since high school, and I want to do my own cover illustrations for the books. And same for The Chronicles of Narnia, which I'm in the middle of a re-read right now. I just think it would be a lot of fun.

But instead I have commissions to work on (but that means money, so yay). And also, I really should get back to working on The Spilled Mug as soon as I'm done with these.
