To the people who say “It’s just music”: Blink 182 taught me it’s okay to be fucked up in life. All Time Low taught me to be myself and forget anyone who didn’t like it. My Chemical Romance taught me to fight for what I believe in. Green Day taught me not to be afraid of being different. Panic! At The Disco taught me more vocabulary than I learn in an entire school year. Fall Out Boy taught me that sometimes, people will stab you in the back but you’ve just got to get back up and flip them off. Simple Plan taught me that right now, you might be just hanging out in the Lost & Found, but someday, someone will come and retrieve you. Good Charlotte taught me that the world is a dark, lonely place, but you can brighten it. Sleeping With Sirens taught me that you shouldn’t blame yourself for the bad doing of others. Pierce The Veil taught me that self-harmers are just like you, except their smiles are just a little bit more broken. I was raised by music and the people who wrote the music. Meaningful bands teach very important life lessons in almost every single song. So if someone says that music saved their life, don’t tell them they just want attention or that it’s not possible. It is very possible.
