"Suzanne Collins gave Coriolanus Snow a tragic backstory and made him sympathetic!" So close. Actually, she put the reader in the POV of an extremely privileged character whose thoughts and views and morals still ultimately aligned with fascism, who constantly fell back on those philosophies no matter how many brief moments of humanity he felt for the Districts. She wrote a realistic human being who aligned himself with the status quo and benefited from it. She demonstrated a character who did not become kinder or more empathetic through his suffering, but instead became angrier at the indignity of it, and punished the ones he saw as "deserving" it sevenfold. She showed you, the reader, that those in power know exactly how much the oppressed suffer, and do it anyway, even if they briefly suffer the same.
hey! i was wondering if you'd be down to write a sejanus x reader fanfic? like maybe the reader is the leader of an underground rebellion and she saves him from being hanged?? i just think it would be such a cool dynamic and super angsty lol. no rush or anything, just thought i'd ask :) thanks!!
Heyyyyy, I hope this was worth the very long wait, I'm sorry I'm not a consistent writer! I'll be making a part two eventually 👀

Summary: What if Sejanus survived? And what if you were the one to save him?
Warnings: Angst, little fluff, propaganda, hanging/gallows

“Three years…” The commander of District 12’s Peacekeepers boomed, his voice carrying over the crowd. Commander Hoff was his name. He stood next to the accused; Spruce and Lil, rebellious brother and sister. The stage was set, the ropes were around their necks. Lil held her head high and defiantly, Spruce seemed more worn down.
Commander Hoff continued his speech, “I fought for the Capitol during the war. I’ve been angry. But this is the first time I’ve felt ashamed. Get the other one up here!” The crowd parted to give way to the Peacekeepers dragging a beaten man to the gallows, to the hanging tree. This was a surprise to even you.
“Coryo. Coryo, Coryo.” He seemed to beg one of the Peacekeepers that he passed, there was recognition in the other man’s (Coryo you presume) eyes but he made no move to help.
“The Capitol has received word via jabberjay, that these two men conspired to break into our base's jail and flee north. To release this terrorist from captivity. I’d expect this from a rebel, but not from one of our own.” Commander Hoff explained. Yet another surprise, the new addition was a Peacekeeper. Well, he used to be.
They placed the new man accused next to Spruce and adjusted his very own noose onto his neck. He seemed disoriented.
“This is treason! Plain and simple. Play the recording!” And so they did.
“The leader, Spruce, he wants to get his sister, Lil, out of jail on base.” From what you could tell that was in fact the man’s voice.
“No. Coryo, Coryo. Coryo, help!” He continued to call out to ‘Coryo’ and he continued to do nothing. It was despicable, truly awful to watch.
“Hoff is going to execute her just because she knows the man that they killed. It’s wrong. I’m going to help them get her out.” You liked this guy, even if it was unwise for him to have said all that out loud. You wondered who he was talking to in the recording.
That didn’t matter now though, right now you needed to make sure your aim was perfect. And with the addition of this other rebel, you needed to be quick. You couldn’t exactly just leave him to the gallows while you took Spruce and Lil, he had tried to help them and you just didn’t have the heart.
He was panicking while Spruce and Lil remained silent and the jabberjays and mockingjays were beginning to pick up his voice. You had to move fast or they might give away your location too early. “No, no, no, no, no- Ma! Help! Ma! Ma!-” His voice was cut off by the sudden fall to the ground as a knife whizzed over his head and cut his noose in a clean swipe, Spruce’s sliced with it. Lil’s was cut with another knife.
Spruce and Lil were quick to their feet, jumping off the gallows and heading for the woods before you could say ‘Panem’. You then promptly threw down an experimental smoke bomb, silently celebrating when it worked and covered a fair amount of the ground below. The lone rebel was still in shock and took a couple extra seconds to get away from the hanging tree, blindly scrambling for the woods. Bullets were shooting out in almost every direction, the Peacekeepers equally confused in the smoke. You were able to just make out the face of ‘Coryo’ shooting too.
From high up in the trees you threw another smoke bomb and your last remaining knives at the Peacekeepers, doing your best to protect the poor man who had just made it into the woods. Then, you shinnied down the tree to grab the guy before he wound up in the middle of even more gunfire. For just inside the cover of trees, thick underbrush concealed your very own army.
You got to cover with the man, who looked much more like a scared boy up close, and put a finger to (roughly) where your lips were under your mask.
Surprisingly, the Peacekeepers seemed intimidated to tread into the now foggy forest, but a quick order from their commander surged them forward. Luckily, the returned fire dissuaded them again. That, coupled with the district citizens who had taken this opportunity to riot under the concealment of the smoke. It’s unfortunate that only when their identities are hidden, do they have the will to fight for freedom. You wished you could give them the hope they needed to overcome their fear.
Once the fire had ceased, you and your soldiers were able to retreat further into the forest. It was as you made your way up a steep hill that you noticed the man you had saved was injured. Blood was dripping from his leg and he walked with a limp. You also realized you should probably ask his name now that you were a far enough distance from your enemies.
“You’re hurt.” You said, and signaled for your team to pause a moment.
“Yeah…” He replied awkwardly, his face contorted in suppressed pain.
“Medics.” You looked through the group to the two nurses you brought with you, they quickly rushed to the injured man’s side and directed him to sit on a log. You peer over them as they assess the wound. Not a gunshot thankfully, but he seems to have scraped himself up pretty good.
“I tripped getting off the gallows.” He explained.
“Well, congrats on not getting shot.” You said, taking off your mask. “What’s your name?”
“Plinth.” He answered, taken aback when he looked back up at you and this time he didn’t look away.
You raised a brow. “That sounds like a last name.”
“Right… Sejanus Plinth.” He clarified.
You put out your hand and he took it without hesitation. “Y/n L/n.” You said, shaking his hand. “We have a long way to go until we get to our base. Think you can make it?”
He nodded, his hand lingering in yours before letting go. You looked to the medics who agreed. “Good.” You smiled and Sejanus couldn’t help but smile back.
Send 🐍 and a Hunger Games character - I'll give you a song that reminds me of them!
Lamina and perhaps Treech as well?
This took me so long to answer, I'm so sorry!
Song: We Must Be Killers - Mikky Ekko
I think this song could very well be used for many of the tributes in the hunger games, but to me something about it feels distinctly Lamina and Treech and I've had it on my hunger games playlist for a while. I wanted to also find something that felt like betrayal but nothing has struck me yet, I'll make a new post if/when I find something though!
Quick physical appearance, I’m short and stocky with messy brown hair and a tanned complexion. I’m not visibly that muscular (due to being not that skinny), but I’m strong practically and I enjoy a bit of physical exercise. I’d consider myself butch, and I dress generally masculine.
I’m an extroverted person with maybe two or three close friends, but a huge network of acquaintances. I find it really easy to talk to people but being authentically myself is sometimes not a good idea, but any weirdness people would judge initially is offset by the fact I’m pretty funny and don’t really get embarrassed ever.
I’m passionate about a lot of things, mainly music (I’m a bassist and drummer), Andor and the hunger games (and all the political nuances that come with them). That made me involved in activism, which isn’t a weekly hobby or anything but I do show up to protests.
I’m also a lesbian which is so obvious in my favourite characters, Johanna and Foxface. You don’t have to do both but I literally couldn’t decide lmao.
Thank you!!
Foxface is so underrated, she's a great favorite character to have! I also feel like Johanna isn't talked about enough. I love her and, in my opinion, Jena Malone's portrayal of her is one of the best in the movies! I wish we would have gotten to hear more about her at the end of Mockingjay. So, I'll give you an answer for both!
Foxface is difficult because we don't get to see much of her and in the books we only get Katniss's perception of her. That being said, I think she would find your authenticity and perseverance intriguing. It would take her a while to warm up to you as I don't think she likes small talk and she is very straight to the point. I see her as an introvert so there could be some tension there but you seem like a chill extrovert so I think she would open up to you. If you tend to invite other people into conversations she would go silent, but she would stay by your side and wouldn't blame you for being yourself!
Johanna would playfully bully you. She can be a brutal person but when she pokes fun at you, you know it's actually wrapped in appreciation. At first, she might think you're suspicious. Are you truly genuine or is it an act? Once she realizes you are as cool as you say you are though, she likes you. I just know she would love the drums. And though she might get annoyed that you actually seems to like people somehow, she secretly admires you for it.
I am back from my hiatus (forgive me 🙏) and have hit my first big milestone! Thank you all so much for your support and grace! I truly enjoy writing for this fandom and interacting with all you people who love it as much as I do! In celebration, here's a fun little game my friend begged me to do.
Ask game; anyone can play!
Send 🌹and tell me a little about yourself - I'll put you in a district!
Send 🕛 and tell me some of your skills - I'll tell you how you would do in the Hunger Games!
Send 🦿, a Hunger Games character, and a little bit about yourself - I'll tell you what they would think of you
Send 💀 and three Hunger Games characters - I'll play Kiss, Marry, Kill!
Send 🕊 and five Hunger Games characters - I'll rank them!
Send 🐍 and a Hunger Games character - I'll give you a song that reminds me of them!
Is Johanna x Gale a ship? I've seen very little about them and after rereading the Mockingjay for the millionth time, I think they'd make a good couple. I know they literally have one interaction but it's enough for me lol.
The scene in question:
" "Here, maybe. In the Capitol, you're the one they're scared of now." Gale appears in the doorway, and Johanna neatly unhooks herself and reattaches me to the morphling drip. "Your cousin's not afraid of me," she says confidentially. She scoots off my bed and crosses to the door, nudging Gale's leg with her hip as she passes him. "Are you gorgeous?" We can hear her laughter as she disappears down the hall.
I raise my eyebrows at him as he takes my hand. "Terrified," he mouths. "
Does this also not imply they've interacted before? I love this scene.
What would their ship name be? Jale? Seems apt lol. Gohanna sounds like I'm cheering on someone named Hanna. Or Anna since the 'h' is silent.
Hii! Could you do a fic where Corio has a son from his first political marriage but ends up hiring a assistant who takes great care of his son and one day his son asks when his daddy is going to marry his mommy and he’s referring to reader and that’s when Corio realizes that he has major feelings for her and makes her his second wife please?

Summary: After divorcing his wife, Coriolanus needed someone to look after his son. You were fit for the job. Maybe too fit, as unbeknownst to him, his son had begun to call you 'mommy'.
Warnings: Angst, fluff, propaganda, Coriolanus is a little brazen towards his son, reader is referred to as 'mommy' by Coriolanus's toddler
WC: 1.6k
Scandal was the first thing on Coriolanus Snow’s mind when he decided to divorce his wife. He had thought through every possible option, any way he could avoid the judging eyes of his peers and the public. Poison was one he kept coming back to, but the ramifications of it weren’t worth the energy. Of course, it would have been more pleasant to receive condolences for the tragic passing of his wife, than to receive unwarranted opinions on their separation. Alas, another poisoning so soon would draw too much attention…
Thus, he was forced to let her live and endure the humiliation the divorce would bring.
The second thing that crossed Coriolanus’s mind was his son. Caelius complicated the ordeal greatly, and was a main contributor to Coriolanus’s struggle in the aftermath of the divorce. He wasn’t particularly fond of children. He assumed when he had one of own his feelings would change, but it had little effect. In fact, the neediness and carelessness of the toddler infuriated him in moments. But even so, Caelius was his. His flesh and blood, his image, his.
It was natural that he didn’t settle for joint custody, any further interaction with his ex-wife would surely drive him insane. And, as the failure of their relationship was her fault, he wouldn’t let her have the chance to ruin his relationship with his son too.
He wasn’t completely cruel though, she got enough in their settlement to continue her life of luxury in the Capitol just no longer as the First Lady, nor with his son. She could have other children.
So, now that Coriolanus was the sole caretaker of Caelius he needed help. The Avoxes had been somewhat helpful since Caelius arrived at the Snow Mansion, but they weren’t well versed in childcare and neither was Coriolanus. And, he was a busy man. When he wasn’t at public events and at meetings, he was in his office. Unfortunately, Caelius loved to disturb him there and practically whenever he was home. He needed someone to take the responsibility.
That someone was you. After long and tiresome interviews, something about you impressed him. You seemed worthy of the job. And, you soon proved yourself to be. You stayed on full-time, you kept Caelius occupied and entertained, and even when Coriolanus was present you would continue to care for his son. Coriolanus found that with you around he could finally relax, and it helped that you weren’t bad company. In fact, he started to crave your presence when you weren’t around.
---
You had been working for Coriolanus Snow for almost a year. Then the problem started a few weeks ago. You weren’t sure how to address it. You thought if you ignored it, it would go away… but it didn’t.
“Mommy!” Caelius squeaked to get your attention.
It felt cruel to correct him, but what would your employer say if he found out? The poor four year old had lost his mother to a bitter divorce. He was confused, not able to understand what had caused the sudden disappearance. He looked to you as a replacement for that piece of his heart. And, a part of you wanted to fill that hole.
From what you had heard, his mother wasn’t a good role model. She left the boy to the Avoxes to be taken care of and often questioned the president on everything from his wear to his judgement. Some even said, and you hesitated to repeat it, she was a rebel sympathizer of all things! That, it seemed, was the cause of the divorce.
You didn’t blame President Snow for ending it after you had heard the full story. Of course, divorce is always hard, especially when you have children and you had questioned the choice due to Caelius. But you quickly determined it was much better for the boy to not have that influence in his life. Caelius needed to develop without the pressure of a mother who would inflict her dangerous beliefs upon him. You could admit that you had at least a touch of sympathy for the districts, but it could only go so far when you reminded yourself of the pain they had caused the people in the Capitol. And you believed President Snow ruled Panem as he should.
You told him as much too. When evening would roll around and Caelius was safely tucked in bed, you saw Coriolanus unwind. He couldn’t help but open up to you and your kind eyes. He couldn’t say everything he was thinking, but he could let go of a few thoughts that he wouldn’t otherwise let out. He felt close to you, emotionally and- when had he gotten so close to you?
Your breath seemed to mingle as he spoke and he abruptly stopped at the realization, taking a big step back.
“Goodnight.” He ended the interaction, swiftly making his way to his chambers.
You hesitated before calling, “Goodnight!” Caught off guard by the sudden dismissal of your presence.
You stood there for a moment, too, basking in the very recent closeness and attempting to get your bearings after it was taken away.
Then, you were interrupted again by a cry from Caelius’s room. A heartbreakingly familiar cry. You sighed and made your way to the child’s room, finding him sat up with puffy eyes. “Mommy!” He cried.
“I know, sweetboy.” You consoled him, promptly sitting on the bed and holding him. “It’s alright. It was just a dream.”
“Why won’t mommy marry daddy?” Caelius pouted.
“She went away, Cael. She can’t come back.” You tried to explain.
“No! You didn’t go!” The ruckus had gotten Coriolanus to reappear.
“I’m sorry, I’m trying to calm him.” You said sincerely.
Coriolanus sat on the bed too, taking Caelius from you. “Why won’t you marry mommy?” He kicked his feet and thrashed.
Coriolanus sighed deeply, you could tell this was not a conversation he wanted to be having. It felt too personal and you got up to leave but he stopped you. “Stay.” He said, catching your hand. He let go almost immediately though, unfortunately. “... He’ll be calmer with you here.” Coriolanus excused his action.
Of course, you obliged.
“We’ve talked about this, Caelius.” He attempted a measured tone. “Your mother isn’t coming back. She’s proven to be bad for you. You’re stronger without her.”
It seemed an odd approach but you didn’t dare interject.
He looked at you, trying to appoint Caelius’s attention on you too. “Look, you have a new… person in your life, hm? You like them.”
This only seemed to rile Caelius up more, causing him to whine.
“Use your words, Caelius.” Coriolanus said firmly.
“Don’t want past mommy!” He said, frustration now mixed into his lisp.
“Right.” Coriolanus nodded once. “What do you want?”
“Mommy!”
Coriolanus rolled his eyes away from Caelius, clearly not understanding him. But you had begun to. You knew something he didn’t. Something you really didn’t want Coriolanus to find out, and definitely not like this.
“Here, I’ll try telling him a story. You don’t have to worry about it.” You offer.
“No, I must see this through. He’s my son, he should know the truth.” Coriolanus insisted.
One thing you were forbidden to mention to Caelius, and why you had some sympathy for his ex-wife, even if she was foolish to side with the districts, was that Caelius’s mother had passed. She suffered an early heart attack only a few months ago and you were never one to speak ill of the dead. It was a truly terrible tragedy. And, you didn’t believe now was the right time to tell Caelius when you knew he wasn’t even talking about her. But you.
“Coriolanus-” You began.
“Your mother is dead, Caelius. The rebels snatched her into their clutches and her heart couldn’t take the stress. She’s not coming back even if I wanted her to.” He stated, bluntly.
Caelius simply blinked for a few moments, tears still rolling down his cheeks, before he began to squirm again. “Mommy!” He reached for you.
At this point Coriolanus let him go to you, still unaware about the correlation between Caelius’s words and who they were directed toward. That is, he was very briefly unaware because once Caelius was in your arms he looked right up at you and asked again, “Why won’t you marry daddy?”
You laughed nervously, harshly avoiding eye contact with Coriolanus. “You’re confused, Caelius. Let’s go to bed, yes?”
Coriolanus would not excuse this. “Would you point to your ‘mommy’, Caelius?” He asked.
Of course, Caelius pointed to you.
You looked between the boy and Coriolanus, waiting for a reaction. It was quiet for what felt like a long moment before you got one. Coriolanus smiled softly.
“You think I should marry Y/n?” He asked Caelius surprisingly softly.
“Mommy.” Caelius nodded, sniffling.
“Hm.” He hummed like he was pondering the idea. “I think so too.”
You felt your heartbeat in your entire body, eyes wide, hands clammy, and you laughed again because he had to be joking.
“What do you say, Y/n? Y/n Snow does have a nice ring to it.” He was not joking.
You struggled to answer.
“Wait, we can postpone. I’ll arrange everything first. Then you can say yes properly.” He determines before looking at Caelius. “Happy now?”
Caelius let a little smile cross his lips and then began giggling and squealing when Coriolanus tickled him. You watched the scene in shock, still trying to process everything that just happened. Then Caelius tried his best to tickle you with Coriolanus joining in, his hands feeling right at home on your sides, and you succumbed to the moment, joining in on the fight.
I don’t know why people keep mentioning the actors ages when it’s the characters ages people should be concerned about. Joseph is 20 and Elle is 27. Rachel was 21 and Tom was 27 in TBOSAS and yet everyone was and still is shipping them. Why are men allowed to be way older but woman can’t? Also people shouldn’t be shipping real life actors regardless of age but I just sense there’s a double standard here.
I agree that there is a double standard in life and in the film industry. My point was not to shame the age difference between Elle and Joseph. I doubt they are even going to actually have a romantic relationship in the movie anyway. My point was just that age of actor's typically correspond to the age of the characters they play. So, I doubt they are going to make Effie also be 16. As you said, Tom was older than Rachel - naturally this corresponded to the characters ages as well. Coriolanus was older than Lucy Gray. I couldn't care less about age gaps as long as they are appropriate. My own parents have an age gap and my mother is older.
I'm sorry but Sunrise on the Reaping absolutely did NOT further the Hayffie ship. I had no feelings one way or the other about it before, I even liked some of the liberties the movies took. But I think a lot of y'all are forgetting a crucial detail in Sunrise on the Reaping. Haymitch is 16 years old when he meets Effie. He is a child. Effie on the other hand is described to be either in or past the age of University. OLDER than Proserpina who is currently in Universiry during story. You go to the University after the Academy which is basically the Capitol's version of high school. If the movie decides to make the ages appropriate in order for the original movies to make sense than that's great. But the actor's for the characters have a 7 year age difference so I feel like their vision is clear. (Edit: this is just to mean that age usually corresponds between actors and characters not to say that it's a problem)
A romantic relationship that was built off of a minor meeting a full grown adult will never be okay to me no matter how long they wait to get together.
Also as a side note - the absolute devotion Haymitch still has for Lenore Dove too in the epilogue after the events of the original trilogy. After so many years, even seeing her as his age as if she is still with him... I'm sorry but he's never loving anyone like that ever again. (Edit: this is strictly an extra opinion you don't have to agree with)
Please be kind, I have no hate for Hayffie shippers I'm just not into people using examples from sunrise to take the ship further. Hayffie was never a thing in the books (edit: meaning it was/is not canon) and certainly isn't now. Maybe in the movie universe it will remain.
