@ro_hondas_daughter took this excellent shot of me just before dropping into the breathtaking Neversink Pit in Alabama. it was a different sort of caving day for me. being the permit holder & most experienced caver for a group of 8 & ultimately responsible for their lives & general well being fell on me like a heavy weight. until everyone was safely returned to the top, i couldn't relax, eat, or comfortably joke around. even my own descent was uncharacteristically shaky & somber. as i climbed the rope, i took a little extra time to stop & breath; to look around at the beauty seen only from the viewpoint of this risky activity of being underground. i am thankful for my family of friends (& family) who challenge & encourage & understand me. life is better when you share it. #thatviewtho #neversinkpit #noonedied #thatoneguymayhavelostatesticalbuthisattitudewasonpoint
