U L T R A L I G H T • • • Took advantage of the beautiful conditions yesterday morning and put Sam on to some solid bonito. We found plenty of 68 degree, clear blue water just a mile outside the harbor. Access was easy using the @scoutinflatables and 8lb gear. There was never a boil but huge schools were showing up on the lowrance. The fun reminded me of days at king harbor during my childhood. I haven’t seen a bonito season like this in a long time. S T R A N G E 🌀D A Y S • • • Originally, I had not planned on sharing this photo...I’ve been sitting on it for a while. This was the day a mullet ate my chartreuse and white clouser minnow. It was just too weird...I didn’t think these things would go for a fly, let alone a 4”streamer. I went one for three on these powerhouse pullers. 3 WT 🐟 F UN • • • Although I’m not new to light line adventures, I’m fairly new to the experience of fishing glass fly rods. Last fall, I picked up a new @galvanflyreels brookie 3/4 and an @echoflyfishing 3wt River Glass for my local creek pursuits. I had no idea how much fun this little rod would be on panfish and...bass. This photo is an example of how a slow parabolic bend can actually help land fish that are way above the pay grade of a normal graphite rod. We even caught some that were willing to go head to head in open water with the roving wolfpacks of bass pushing bait through the water’s surface. A small streamer put in front of thier face is enough to get them to go!
