Today's Knowing Your Limit is on the topic of peer pressure!
Many people drink socially, which is fine as long as they only consume a few drinks. Social drinkers drink in patterns that have low risks for addiction ā although social drinking patterns can occasionally develop into abuse or addiction, but most people can control these drinking habits.Ā
Tip 2:Ā āNoā is okay and doesnāt make you less cool!
Social drinking becomes a problem when people feel pressured to drink more than they normally would. When this happens, people might engage in binge drinking, which the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and AlcoholismĀ defines as consuming five or more alcoholic drinks on one occasion. Friends can pressure you into consuming more alcohol than you normally would in the following ways:
Drinking a round of shots together
Playing drinking games
Encouraging you to consume ājust one moreā drink
Takeaway from today's post: Knowing your limit allows you to be aware of your surroundings and enables you to make the right decisions i.e. sayingĀ ānoā to just one more.Ā
