How many fics did you write this year?
Two smutty little things and one exchange fic, which is currently anonymous.
How many words did you write this year?
I've posted 24,740 words on ao3, in addition to docs upon docs of scenes and bits of other fics that I hope to finish one day.
Did you try anything new this year? (New fandom? New pairing? New language?)
2025 was a year full of immersing myself into so many new things. Without going into my whole life history with fandom, I got back into HP fandom last year in January, read lots of Dramione, then mountains of Wolfstar. Along the way I got inspired to try writing something of my own. So I posted a couple of fics, joined some discord servers, and met so many new friends. I'm so grateful for the community full of lovely and welcoming people that I've found myself in.
Did you participate in any fests/events during the year?
I wrote a fic (still anon) for MMF Winter Fic Exchange, which is the first event I've ever participated in! I also signed up for Old Dogs Fest, so stay tuned for that!
Which is the funniest fic you have written this year?
I don't think I'd classify anything I've written as funny. I'd love to get into more comedic writing, but whenever I try to add some humor, it always feels off.
Which is the angstiest fic you have written this year?
Again, I wouldn't really classify anything I've written as angst, so I'm going to lean a little more toward angsty pining for this answer. Turning the Page has its moments, but still has way more fluff (and smut) than angst.
Which is the steamiest fic you have written this year?
My two smut pieces are both very steamy, but with different flavors of smut. I'll choose Doing it Wrong for this because it's literally top to bottom filth, and I'm really quite proud of that.
Which is your most valuable writing lesson learned this year?
Honestly, that I actually can do it. I've always loved writing but never felt I had anything to say. Then I realized you don't really need to have anything to say. You can write things that serve no purpose but to entertain. There doesn't need to be a message or a lesson or anything profound. Just write! And if you like what you've written, other people will like it too, no matter how strange or silly (or kinky or trashy!).
What do you look forward to writing next year?
My top priority is Old Dogs Fest. I feel very behind, so this has to take focus.
There's two longer fic ideas I've had hopping around in my brain for so long now that I'd really like to set some time aside to outline and see if I can turn them into something.
More smutty one-shots! Including new installments of How May I Help You? (Dildo Moony being #1, iykyk).
(checks ideas doc) and so much more!!
I think nearly everyone has already done this, so consider this an open tag for whoever hasn't done it yet!
