as someone playing fallout 4 for the first time, here are some thoughts so far on the romances bethesda will actually allow me to pursue:

cait: not taken her out enough, probably too rough for miss goody two shoes trying to make the world a better place

curie: I am on board with robot fucking however so far this one does feel like it’s catering to straight men

danse: why is anyone fucking danse when Arthur Maxson is right there

hancock: he’s no Charon

maccready: undecided here until I get further into the personal quest because I know there’s more shit to come out but so far it does not spark but I do have a soft spot for snipers so maybe…

piper: feisty, fun, I like her, definite maybe, I did hit the flirt option and my persuasion attempt failed

preston: definitely shares the same worldview, I just want it to be more spicy, maybe again this one will come through if I give it time

ongoing notes on which romances I think I should be allowed:

- a torrid affair with Arthur maxson featuring Nora’s guilt about a man some 20 years (??) her junior that inevitably ends in tears when Nora pisses off the brotherhood

- extremely sweet robot fucking with nick valentine, let me solve crime with him forever

- why can I not fuck deacon like he’s lying to me about everything but I know he’s lying to me about everything and I support his choices to lie about everything in the pursuit of freedom

Anders was conscripted to the wardens but continually acts like he chose to join, and I think that's less about him wanting to be there and more about his relationship with consent.

To Anders, if he said yes, that means he wanted it, that means it's okay. It makes him feel less helpless. Makes him feel like he had some kind of control.

i will go to my grave defending joker mass effect's decision to not abandon the cockpit of the sr-1

he's fucking disabled and has trouble walking when the normandy isn't taking heavy fire, he needed assistance to get to an escape pod because he is disabled and the rest of the cockpit crew are dead. he could have very well just stumbled bad during another attack, break his leg, and float off into the abyss of space

the escape pods still need to safely eject from the ship, and lore makes it clear the ship piloting vi isn't complex enough to handle mid-combat piloting. by remaining in the cockpit and keeping the ship out of fire, joker allows more escape pods to eject safely

too many people (redditors, mostly) look at joker's decision to stay at the helm as a betrayal, and genuinely blame him for shepard's death which is insane. he didn't make the decision to remain at the helm because he wanted shepard to die lmfao he does it because he knows, as a disabled man who forgoes mobility aids, that he has 0 chance of getting to an escape pod by himself and his best choice is to stay and try to keep the ship steady and relatively intact
