An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works

“S’not just bites,” Benny’s tongue feels too big for his mouth, uncoordinated in a sleep-drunk haze, “Technically s’not bites at all, just saliva. Gets in your blood. Any fluid works, as far as I know.”
Peach’s spine stiffens along the line of his arm. “Oh,” he says, quietly.
Benny hums noncommittally.
“Heh,” Peach’s boldness weighs uncomfortably over his words, a poorly fitting mask of his usual bravado. He soldiers on regardless, though his voice is faint to Benny’s ears, “I thought you were just scared of blood.”
An extended exploration of grief, love, and queerness after the end of the world.
Set in a zombie apocalypse and featuring fun things like: slowburn through homoerotic arguments, the tragic development of a doomed father/son relationship, way too much research into Jehovah’s Witnesses, and the author’s poorly concealed love letter to his hometown.
