“Well we need to clean those up okay?? So they don’t get infected. I’ll go get the first aid kit-- just sit here and don’t go near the glass.”

“ okay— that- that would be good, right ?? if i c-came every day– m-m-maybe we could fix th-th-the stuttering too…” kasey pulls his lower lip in, biting down to calm his ever present nervousness. “ you’re– you’re gonna f-fix me, right ??”

“Mhm we could work on a lot more if you started to come everyday-- I think it’ll be good for you.” She said with a small nod. She frowned though at his last sentence and shook her head. “You don’t need to be fixed sweetheart, you just need to heal.”

“I’m really sorry I made a big mess, Mom. I didn’t mean to. You don’t have to help me clean it up, Harper can help me, she’s good at cleaning stuff up.”

“Hey! You can’t use Harper to be your personal maid Henley.”

“Do you like cleaning Mom? I guess I could do that. Rafi helped me one time because I wasn’t a teenager and because I wasn’t a pest.” 

“Sometimes I like cleaning, but sometimes i’m too tired to enjoy it. Oh lucky you! Rafi is a very good friend to have, he’ll always make sure you’re okay.”

“I didn’t put those heavy toys there, I just put the legos there. Those were here when I got here. You should find who put those messy like that and make them go on time out.”

“Time out huh? I think i’ll give them the chance to clean it up first but if they refuse then time out might be a good option.”

“I’ll still help you if you need help. --You ask one of the older kids for help, or one of the people who works here.”

“I already started picking up a few of ‘em, but I won’t pick up any more. Can I help you sweep them at least? I really am sorry.”

“Let me see your hands, you didn’t get cut did you? I don’t want you near the glass at all baby, it’s okay, it’s just stupid plates, no big deal at all.”

“Sounds like a plan, i’ll pick up the heavier toys.”

“Oh Theo-- I do not believe you one bit.”

“I’m gonna clean it up, don’t worry. I just have to fold it again. But you should really work on not exploding, that would be an even bigger mess to clean up.”

“You’re right, me exploding would add to this huge mess and then i’d be even more upset. So let’s get to work on clearing the floor so I can step in here next time.”

“ i th-thought so.. h-hey kat– is it okay if i-i still want to cry for a while ??”

“Well, we just need to work a little harder in therapy for the next few weeks okay? Do you mind coming in to see me once everyday for now on? --Crying? Crying is perfectly okay and normal sweetheart. I would be worried if you didn’t want to cry. Crying can actually make us feel better and relieve some tension and stress.”
