Summary: Dating her was pure bliss, who would blame you for tying the knot?
Warnings: Nothing much. Marriage life. Mentions of children and arguments. Reader is implied to be a Hashira. Headcanon under the cut.
A/N: Here's one out of two of my submissions for the RELA.PTS. event. Thank you again nursed for allowing me the opportunity to participate! Uhm..it'd probably make more sense to post the first meeting drabble first but uh..I like this one just a bit more, yeah..let's go with that. ANYWAYSSS HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVE TO THOSE WHO CELEBRATE, HERE'S ONE OF MY GIFTS TO YA'LL-
Event: Relationship Points Event
āŖ Obviously entails a lot of sweets! Pancakes, mochi, dango, you name it! As your wife, Mitsuri wants nothing more than to spoil you in her love for desserts and sweet-flavored things!
āŖ The master allowed you both an entire week of rest following the announcement of you and hers' engagement and during that time she did nothing but shower you in food, affection, and dragged you everywhere she can think of! Pop-up markets, festivals.. You name it, she's probably already brought you there.
āŖ Despite what she had fantasized in her youth, the wedding wasn't anywhere near extravagant but was still a day to remember! The venue ended up being your now shared estate and was decorated mainly by you, her, Tanjiro and his squad, and the butterfly girls upon her excitable request. The decorations were simple, more suitable for a simple party rather than a wedding, but she fell in love with the decorum regardless, simply swept away by the fact that her life-long goal was finally coming to fruition. The guest list entailed everyone who helped decorate, the Hashira and whomever they wanted to bring with them, Oyakata-sama and his family, your family, and hers.
āŖ The honeymoon was just as wonderful as it was filled with nothing but soothing smells, delightfully warm water, long chats and joyous giggles at a hot springs & inn specifically and avidly recommended by Tengen and his wives. There, you two did nothing but smile and reminisce over every little thing that brought about a fond memory..which, at times, led to more sullen thoughts, but that hardly dampered your overall moods!
āŖ Home life is filled with rare downtime, fleeting promises and equally brief affection, and often times lonely nights. As Demon Slayersāones that are recognized for their superb abilities at thatābeing able to wake up to the smell of your wife's honey pancakes in the morning, being able to start the day sharing her strawberry lipstick, or being able to open your eyes at all, was a blessing that you both spend your strenuous walks to mission locations praying for. Your lives are far from guaranteed and you both exchanged vows that day knowing the risk of possibly being struck down in the line of duty. It made the two of you all the more grateful for every moment you're able to breath, every day you're able to say hi and goodbye to each other, and made every second together all the more valuable and precious.
āŖ Your rare mornings together are usually accompanied by delicious smells, buzzing bees, and yawns caused by the tiring night before of shedding blood and consoling the anguished over the ones they lost. Your even scarcer nights are spent tangled in each others' warmth in any way possible. On the occasions you were given rest days, you were both adamant on doing everything together. Of course, that mostly meant household chores were the focus until the pinks of the sky turned husk and orange, but neither of you minded, simply enjoying each other's company as you went about your day.
āŖ Arguments were never common when you two were dating and the same applies for when you two finally tie the knot. If they do arise, they're small and die quickly, never reaching even the first point of aggression. Harsh words are never thrown, spewing false wishes just to hurt each other never even crossed your minds, and if, for whatever reason, tears are shed amongst either of you, they're quickly wiped away by the other and whichever of you felt so terrible as to cry will be coddle and comfort and treated with the utmost care, as if you were made out of a valuable gemstone.
āŖ Though gender plays a big role in this, children are pretty much a far-fetched fantasy. Though the two of you, mainly Mitsuri, went about walks together and dates at times rambling dreamily about the thought of incoherent babbles interrupting your peaceful sleep, tiny hands encircling around your index, and the joyous first embrace the comes along with meeting your shared creation for the first time, you guys realized after much discussion that it'll likely never be more than a delightful daydream. After all, it'd be cruel to bring life into this world when your own isn't guaranteed and neither of you could bare the thought of your child shedding tears over their parents' untimely demise if that were to unfortunately happen. It's a sad thought. Mitsuri especially took it hard, but until this dark world was able to bath under sunshine againāuntil that heinous demon king was slayedāany thoughts that stretched beyond yourselves would remain as wishful nighttime talks amongst each other in depths of your drowsiness.
āŖ The consideration of retirement is often a topic brought up in moments of vulnerabilityātypically after a close call that has one of you scrambling to see the other. Talks like those are long and winding as you contemplate a peaceful life, but always ends at the same destination with the two of you deciding to stay with the Corps. You both felt as if you were bounded by your personal reasons that made the thought of leaving feel like a cowardly and or unfulfilling choice to make. Not only that, but both of you shared a special sentiment about the Demon Slayer Corps that made such a gory, brutal job seem like the perfect homeāone that neither of you could truly think of leaving.
āŖ All in all, Mitsuri, ever the optimistic romantic, always sees you in the best lighting possible in every situation. She's someone who loves with her entire being and soul and that pours into every inch of your marriage just as it did your relationship. Her hugs are often times as warm as the summer sun even when there's a blizzard outside. Her kisses are always sweet no matter what emotion stains them. Her touch never lies and never leads you on as it's warmed by her trusts that she so brazenly gave to you. You've completed her life-long wish and its made her so desperately yearn to do the same for you which she does by giving her all to you. Laying all her feelings, thoughts, and emotions bare to you no matter how frivolous or heavy-hearted they are. She's opened her chest, ripped out her golden heart and has placed it in your hands for safe keeping and she hopes that you feel comfortable in doing the same. And if not, she can wait. Days, months, years..however long you need, even if she's six feet under by the time that truly happens.
