I saw a news report about this on T.V., she was a straight A Student who had perfect attendance and everything. Everyone loved and respected her for her skills, but when she started this experiment and people thought she was pregnant, they started treating her like garbage. Even her teachers started looking down on her like she was scum of the earth. The only people who knew she was doing this as an experiment were her school principal, her health care teacher, her boyfriend, and her mother. Her own siblings thought she was pregnant! I mean even her friends turned on her, it was horrid. Very very sad, and as soon as she revealed during an assembly that the pregnancy was false, a lot of people were in shock as she brought up all the horrible things they said and did to her because they thought she was pregnant. The reason for the experiment was to see how people would react and treat her if they thought she was pregnant, as opposed as to treating her as the straight A āPerfectā student they usually did. And it proved that people were horrible scumbags to her as soon as they thought she was.
holy shit. this is fucking awesome
I read this chickās book! It was so cool.
Her book isĀ The Pregnancy ProjectĀ byĀ Gaby Rodriguez
Pretty sure I reblogged something about this in the past, but now someoneās posted a book title and I want to read this book
I read the book and saw the lifetime movie
***SPOILERS***Ā
She came from a family with a history of teen pregnancies but she was the exception to the rule. As her senior project she wanted to see how things would change for her if she āsuccumbedā to what was expected of her by society and statistics. basically she told her bf for his permission and one or two school officials (I think her sister or mother as well but I read it soo long ago).
The teachers who didnāt know immediately began to look down on her, most of her friends abandoned her. He bf'sĀ familyĀ told him to leave her and she basically became the school outcast. Only the other pregnant girls were friendly to her. At the end of the school year she made a big presentation to the school giving them facts about teen pregnancy and telling them about her experiences as a pregnant teen including things they had said to or about her. Then she finally revealed that she wasnāt pregnant. Some people were mad that she had tricked themĀ but overall they understood why she had done it.
Assholes werenāt mad that she tricked them, they were mad because she exposed them for what they really were: a pack of shitheads.

i donāt think people understand that people canĀ āloveā you and not actually love you
like my grandmother ālovedā me, but she also was always trying to change me. Ā she tried to take me away from my (catholic bisexual) mother. Ā she made me wear dresses when i was there. Ā she always tried to get me to go to church and was always asking me if i was dating a boy yet
i spent years feeling guilty that i wasnāt what she wanted me to be until my mom told me one dayĀ āshe never bothered to know the real youā
and itās true. Ā any time i tried to show her something about myself, even cook for her, it would be dismissed, and a replacement would be offered. Ā even northern food was somehow a sin. Ā
she loved me what she thought i should be, she never loved me. Ā
bc people who love you, they love you for all the stuff that makes you you. Ā they never consider that it makes you inconvenient.
āIt was true: the other mother loved her. But she loved Coraline as a miser loves money, or a dragon loves its gold.ā
Loving someone like a prized possession is a very different thing from loving someone like a person you care about.
THIS THO
This is so trueā¦
UMM Hugh had me scared there for a second I was about to find out who I need to beat for making him sad
Okay maybe Iām being a little dramatic but Iām honestly kind of offended at the lack of notes this has? Hugh CLEARLY put a lot of thought and effort into this joke, and you can tell that heās proud of it he smiles and even chuckles at his joke. Is it so hard for yāall to show appreciation for a good man? Heās trying to be funny is Wolverine himself not good enough for you guys? God
That satisfied dad laugh at the end
that was such a DAD joke
WHY IS THIS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND
So for all you feminists out their who think that all men should die, remember, you are not a feminist.
reblogging for the last comment
Legit question, Iām not trying to hate on feminists or anything. Why is it called feminist if theyāre for equality?
castiel-knight-of-hell:
Thatās a very good question and thank you for asking so politely.Ā
The word feminism was coined by Charles Fourier in 1837, a French philosopher who advocated for the emancipation of women because he believed society treated women as slaves. We werenāt allowed to vote, own anything, or work a real job. Women were ruled by their fathers/household patriarch until they married at which time theyād be under the rule of their husband. If a woman did not belong to male household she was shunned by society and had very little means to make money, most of them unsavory. You know the idiomĀ ārule of thumbā? That comes from a running joke that started in the 1600s, and was still around in Fourierās time, that said it was okay for a man to beat a woman with a stick as long as it wasnāt any thicker than his thumb.Ā
The point of the word feminist, and the feminist movement, has never been to say that women are better than men. The point is that women and things associated with women have been given a lesser place in society and we want to bring those things up to a place of equality. The focus is on the feminine because thatās whatās being pushed down. However, focusing on the feminine does not mean weāre focusing only women. Men are belittled and calledĀ āless of a manā anytime they portray a trait that is associated with femininity. If women and the feminine were equal to men and masculinity then that wouldnāt happen. Feminism is about raising up things associated with females to have an equal place in society as the things associated with males. Itās called feminism, not equalism, because the focus is on raising up not tearing down. Equalism would suggest that male things need to come down to a lower level so that female things can meet it in the middle. Thatās not the point. The point is to raise up the feminine so that itās on the same playing field that the masculine is already on. We donāt want men to lower themselves, we just want them to make room for us.
This needs to be spread far and wide to everyone on tumblr.Ā
