Knitting and crocheting have really helped me deal with my anxiety, and I’ve been thinking that Will might enjoy it too when he’s older.

Maybe one of his girlfriends initially teaches him as a joke, and he’s bad at it, so he keeps trying to get the hang of it. Soon enough, he realizes it grounds him. So he starts knitting random things like cozy scarves and sweaters for his boyfriend, matching socks, and funny hats for their dog.

People hate Will Byers because of what he represents, Will is the most emotional and human character on the entire show, he cries, he feels scared, he suffers, he feels pain, he is a victim, people tend to not like to feel emotions who aren't pleasant.

People tend to like more the funny and cool character than the emotional and deep one with trauma, because the funny character is more easy to understand, you don't have to activate your empathy or think deeply that will make you connect with deeply emotions that people with no emotional intelligence don't like to explore, you just have to laugh and move on.

People don't like Will Byers because he shows the part of humanity that people try to avoid so hard but that everyone needs to accept to be an emotional and stable person.

Will Byers is the perfect example of how society treats victims, they blame the victim "why does he cry so much!?" Instead of understanding his pain, it shows the lack of empathy and emotional intelligence, but it also shows that society still thinks that showing emotions like sadness trough crying is something bad when crying is one of the most satisfying things to do when you are overwhelmed. Society doesn't like victims and doesn't treat them right, especially cis hetero white men who have never suffered discrimination in their entire life, but also privileged women who blame other women for man validation.

Will Byers is the perfect example of a real human being, and if you hate Will Byers for showing emotion, then you are hating a part of yourself, and that's extremely sad.
