Delphine knew that she would be destined for great things. But she never saw her life turning out this way. Her birth was marred by never knowing the identity of her father. Her mother was never too bothered by this. If the man hadn’t been important enough to know more than one night, than he was not needed for the birth of his child. Truth be told, she was just covering her lack of knowledge of the man or his identity.
Growing up on the streets of Paris, she saw the wealthy at play. Designer shoes graced the streets that she ran along. She wished to join them, and to have all of the nice things that they owned. Some nights the power was shut off. Some days she went to school hungry. Delphine knew that she would do more with her life. She would join the elite of the city.
So, Delphine worked hard. She knew to get out of her situation she had to push herself. Delphine continued to attend school. She even finished, which was something her mother had not done. Delphine thought education was the only way to join the elite.
It was when she was starting on her path of becoming a lawyer when she was discovered. The agent spotted her at the corner coffee shop. The contracts at first were small. Commercials for local stores and the like. But then they started to flow in. She booked better gigs and soon the jobs were only for designer.
Life was good for Delphine. She had achieved her dream; she was now one of the elite of Paris. Her condo was in the best part of the city. Delphine’s closet was filled with designer clothes. But she had not forgotten her beginnings and she took care of her mother putting her in a very comfortable house.
Delphine’s life changed one autumn night. As she left a club and returned to her condo, Delphine decided to walk the cool streets to cool herself down. Something had emerged from an alley and kicked aside the trash to alert her of its presence. But Delphine hadn’t been quick enough and the creature got her.
The bites had been painful, but one of them must have taken. For she became the creature that had stalked her that night. During the next full moon, she changed. Delphine had been at a photo shoot. No one had survived and the press called it a freak accident of a wild animal that managed to get on the shoot in the country.
It was not long after that Drummond’s End contacted her. They alerted her of what she was now. And they told her that she was to come to their institute to seek refuge and learn about her abilities. Delphine never imagined her life to turn out this way.
