Something I wanted to ask you: which of Anakin’s personal relationships (Obi-Wan, Palpatine, Ahsoka, Padme, Luke, Shmi, etc) is your favorite to write/post/think about? I don’t mean necessarily which ranks up to each other in-universe, but the ones that you find the most interesting and like to talk about.
probably anakin and palpatine to be honest. not only is that the relationship that ends up dominating anakin's life, it has a lot of genuinely interesting - if acutely fucked up - dynamics that i think are pretty fascinating, like what does your life look like when it is completely and totally dominated by one person? when every facet of your existence is completely reinvented to be what this one person wants? anakin very genuinely sacrifices almost everything he has for palpatine; his soul, his body, his labor, the jedi he'd wanted to be, the father he'd wanted to be. the only line he's ever capable of drawing is between palpatine and luke, and even that takes visible and enormous effort - equally as important to the fact that anakin does end up saving luke is that he hesitates for so long, and that...... is enormously depressing. because you have to look at the choice he's making; saving the life of the son he wanted in the last film more than anything, or saving the life of the man who (and i do think vader is self aware enough to realize this) took everything from him. the fact that anakin hesitates even for a second is profoundly sad. the fact that he hesitates for longer than a second is really fucking depressing, and speaks to just the level of emotional attachment he had for palpatine, in spite of - and partially because of - the many very horrible things palpatine did to him.
and no one talks about it! fandom is so busy debating Are The Jedi Evil or Does Obi-Wan Suck Completely (the answer to this being no, of course not, they fuck up at the average rate most people do, that's not being evil jesus h christ) that no one seems to actually pay much attention to how thoroughly disturbing palpatine is. which is sad for me specifically, because i fucking love a thoroughly disturbing villain, and a lot of the things that are actually villainous about palpatine - his scariest traits - are things embedded into his relationship with anakin. if star wars is a story about parenthood making you a better person, palpatine and anakin are the chilling inversion of that, where palpatine uses the same love that vader embraces from luke in ROTJ to do.... horrible, awful shit. and all of that is right there in front of everyone! and no one talks about it! what the hell. so i have to do all the work myself.
Anakin being the ghost that haunts Vader’s narrative is one of my favorite things about Star Wars. Like this moment is Star Wars Infinities: Empire Strikes Back where he finds C-3PO and he has to acknowledge his time as Anakin when he built ‘3PO. Oh Vader you’ll never be able to escape your past <33
terrifying when you watch a movie or a show or whatever & youre like that was fun but it felt a little redundant they didnt need to hammer the point home that much & then you go online & theres thousands of people going that was so weird i did not get it what did that mean google.com ending explained please?
I know that I have an issue with overexplaining myself in books. I know it can get repetitive, and I cut so much more than makes it into the final draft.
And I do this because I have grown up in a world where I can say dinner is my magic onion secret surprise (the surprise is onions) eight times, and still have someone sit down, take a bite, and then ask me if there are onions in there.

WTF do you mean EK Jonston is on Tumblr.
And why the fuck did I find out from that one post where Vincent Prince call Christopher Lee a bitch.
me: i mean i don’t really care what other people think of star wars characters’ sexualities like. w/e, u know? different interpretations are chill
some homophobe: but none of the star wars characters are gay there cannot be gay characters in star wars star wars does not have a single gay char
me:
I am 100% looking forward to having a laptop back. I am so ready to write literally anything.
padmes queen voice being artificially lowered in post to sound like the origin for Vader's low pitch and accent is crazy it makes me crazy that he was in that suit learning how to be a person again in a medical torture device & was like i guess i will mimic my dead wife's intonation she used in her stint as child queen to legitimise myself as the emperor's freaky cyborg wizard sonwife

Love the absolute audacity of this guy. Just openly mocking the religion of a guy that could snap his neck in pieces or slice and dice him with a laser sword. He spent all his time in the Andor universe, he didn’t know about the space wizard side of it.
Been rewatching the Star Wars movies so some art inspired by that
hey fun fact apparently darth vader got so depressed once that he asked Tarkin to hunt him for sport
Oh no, Vader never told Tarkin to hunt him. Vader asked Tarkin to kill him if he’s capable of doing so.
Tarkin was the one who decided that meant Vader wanted to be hunted for sport, rather than someone just putting him out of his misery already.
Later after the hunt ended and Tarkin told Vader he was calling in a med team to take care of them both, Vader tried to choke Tarkin (he passed out before killing him) because damn it he just wanted someone to murder him, not any of this elaborate hunting nonsense.
vader’s lenses are super creepy in this panel
that is all
Vader, a man trapped in a life-support suit controlled by his psychic abuser: Kill me.
Tarkin, absolutely oblivious, certainly flattered, mildly aroused: Yes, of course. The most dangerous game. The true measure of a man’s spirit. We are not truly living until death is close at hand. I must prepare. The hunt begins at dawn.
I cannot get over how Tarkin brought nineteen other guys along on his Vader-hunting trip. like… he was so jazzed about the idea that he went out and hired enough people to play a legal professional soccer match. How did he get nineteen people to all agree to chase around a notorious mass murderer? Is ‘professional hunter’ just a euphemism for a mercenary in this case, or did he roll up to the Galactic Izzzak Waltron League and solicit anyone who’d bagged a 97-point roose or whatever? It sounds like they were credentialed, so it seems unlikely that he just conscripted a bunch of people who spend their weekends taking potshots at womp rats. Did he fuckin… post an ad?
Every once in a while someone will like my Anidala/Wuthering Heights post and I am really flattered but also a little surprised. I did not think people would be noticing it after a month.
