The Signless sat there and listened to Vriska. ” I think I understand a little bit of where you’re coming from. You’re lonely and the one person you know and would love to spend more time with… you can’t because he’s not good on ships and you’re not good on land… Being apart from some-one that you just want to spend time with is the worst possible fate for anyone.”
He fell quiet again, not wanting to get her upset and bring back some bad memories for her. Afterall it was never good to sit and mope in the past. He knew that from experience.
"I still get to see him, just not as offend as we'd like. He travels out to see me more often than not, I guess that's just how he is." She gave a small laugh before it just stopped. At least she had some-one looking out for her, but he had to wonder what had happened to her Lusus, it was strange for a Troll to be stolen away from their Lusus without good reason. He supposed maybe her Lusus was killed in this war she spoke of?
He decided to avoid the awkwardness of just asking out the blue and let it rest, falling silent for a while, looking out to sea. “So You’ve lived on a ship for as long as you could remember huh?”
She gave a nod, "Yeah, basically for as long as I can remember I lived out on the sea. I don't do that great with land anymore. Beaches, small islands, and certain places I can handle a bit but... land is a bit traumatic still for me. No matter how hard I try, I'll never be able to wipe that all from my mind..." She shuddered a bit, shaking her head to get rid of a small tear that was forming. She needed to just not think about that day...
"Though I've been living alone out at sea for a while now- I don't even know how long." She began to stare at the water, figuring she might as well explain it to him , "My crew died in the war. Someone convinced them to go to shore, saying they'd be safe... they died a day later... Other than Karkat, I'm alone and he doesn't do so well on my ship. Little guy gets sea sick." She laughed a bit at that last part, grabbing her flask and taking another sip.
