ย ย ย ย ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ in his head, Finley managed a snort of laughter. One which made him wince afterwards, but still. โSod off, Winston.โ He moaned. โIโm the handsome one, remember? You got the books, I got the looks. That was the deal.โ Truth be told, Drew bested the Brit in both those departments. At least in Finleyโs eyes, anyway. โFull oโ surprises, arenโt I?โ He quipped tiredly as he rested his eyes against the bright lights of the hospital. Only for a moment. As much as he knew he was in for it, having Drew by his bedside eased something for Finley. Like no matter how badly he fucked up, there was always someone in the wings for him. Ready and waiting to nurse him through the aftermath. The room spun as Finley lifted his head off the pillow just slightly to take the straw between his lips. Groaning, he closed his eyes again and sipped the water blindly. This time keeping them shut as he lulled his head back.ย โJust making up for your absence, wasnโt I?โ Finley deflected weakly. Even behind shut eyes, his reality continued to spin.ย โAny chance you can shut the lights off in this joint?โย
How he managed to keep up with his trademark humour and charm while only really half conscious was a wonder to Drew, but he was glad for it. Certainly, it was better than any other alternative.ย โI wasnโt aware of any deal that was made,โ he played along,ย โIs it your liver that youโre sacrificing for it? Because youโre well on your way.โ Though the otherโs eyes were closed, he was sure to have heard the disapproval in Drewโs tone. Very rarely did he have use for it, but he was worried.ย He sighed, lips downturning at the sound of discomfort Finley had made, only then leaving his side to fulfil his request. Upon his return, he seated himself by the otherโs feet.ย โFinley, this...โ Drew hesitated, not knowing how to approach such a delicate subject matter. Had their relationship been purely doctor to patient, it would have been much easier. But this was his friend. Somebody he held dearly in his life.ย โThis isnโt okay. It isnโt normal, and I think you know that.โย

the only cool thing about this event was that it gave rose to wear the night sky inspired suit they had been wanting to wear for ages now. other then that, the night was a complete drag. it wasnโt about enjoying yourself, it was about talking yourself up to the egos that kept the hospital running. so all in all, it was a bore and if there was one thing rose really didnโt like, it was being bored.
โdoctor.โ drew offered a welcome distraction from said boredom however, thus receiving a bright smile from them. they took the glass from him with a nod.ย โthanks! itโs a fun one isnโt it? i think itโs a bit disappointed by the not as fun night though. i get that.โ
They were a peculiar person, Rosaline Windsor โ from the way they spoke, to the way they carried themself. So unlike many others in their field of work. It was why Drew was so drawn to them. Having somebody around that made up for the monotony of othersโ made the job infinitely better, events and all.ย A chuckle rumbled from the maleโs chest at their remark,ย โIt definitely has you written all over it.โ He lifted his glass up to his lips and took a sip of the alcoholic beverage before continuing on,ย โThese never really are fun. Whoโd have thought thereโd be a performative aspect to the job? I certainly didnโt.โ A shrug. It was what it was. It didnโt take away the value of their work. โYou seem to be doing alright, though. All the people youโve been talking to, they seem pleased.โย

it was fun to have such kind people around her. and still, drew had proven to be a special type of kind, the type that went above and beyond to make sure his little heartbroken neighbor was okay, despite the unbelievable work schedule he had. but more than okay, stevie felt safe around him. and there were no words that could possibly explain how grateful she was for everything he was doing for her โ because he didnโt have to. he really didnโt. the physical reminder of drewโs heart as the blanket fell on her shoulders before she got squeezed brought a smile to her face. call it confirmation bias, but when he was so unapologetically nice, it simply couldnโt be a bias. she wrapped half of herself in the blanket. โitโs not that cold!โ she teased, although her current look would definitely counter that statement. โi have enough blanket over here to share if youโre cold.โ she couldโve suggested he went back inside, she wouldโve just been another minute anywayโฆ but she didnโt. even when the thought came to her, she didnโt. sort of a selfish choice, yes, she didnโt want to be alone; but she also wanted to hang out with drew. she offered him the cigarette she held between her fingers.ย โthis could also help. oopsie.โ she probably wasnโt supposed to be smoking, but the brunette couldnโt truly remember when the last time sheโd told him sheโd stop was.
โsame goes for you, young man. iโm kind of surprised you didnโt go straight to bed.โ she gave him a playful look with some tired undertones, which shifted slowly into the most unthreatening glare ever.ย โi see how it is.โ her voice cracked there a little bit, revealing a smile.ย โiโm glad though, you truly deserve a break. i hope you can take one soon.โ stevie nodded her head as she listened, and shrugged her shoulders before she answered the doctorโs question.ย โiโmโฆ good. yeah, better. talking to you always makes me feel better,โ she dropped that line fairly casually, as if it werenโt that big of a deal. after all, in her mind, it wasnโt โ he couldnโt help being so great, could he? โhmm. well, after i got back from work i went down to whole foods for some ingredients, for tomorrowโs dinner,โ the statement was followed by a mischievous raise of her eyebrows and a mysterious look in her eye.ย โwatered my plants, folded some laundryโฆ super exciting stuff, obviously. i fed cat, and we hung out for a little bit. heโs a great listener, you know?โ she smirked.ย โby the way, do you need any help with laundry? because you know i can take care of it, no problem.โ
He should have headed inside. His feet ached, eyelids burning as they begged to be shut. After such a long day, all Drew wanted was to climb into bed.ย But he couldnโt help but oblige to Stevie. It wasnโt as if he would have been able to rest knowing she was out all by her lonesome. He was attune to her, in that way, a consequence of their ever blooming companionship. At least something good came out of a bad situation. Wordlessly, Drew huddled himself close underneath the comforter. He had accepted her offer of the cigarette, huffing out a laugh as he shook his head.ย โWeโre terrible at this whole quitting thing, huh?โ Knowing them, they would come to vow never to touch one again after finishing the one now in his hand. Still, against his better judgement, he had been bringing the butt of stick up to his lips, inhaling deeply. What was another one, anyway?
The smoke felt heavy as it sat in his lungs. Another moment or two and he was releasing it back into the air with a slow exhale.ย โIโm not all that tired,โ Drew replied simply. A lie. He knew if he told her otherwise she would be ushering him away, but truth be told, he didnโt want to go yet. He relished in the time they spent together. If her words were anything to go by, she did too. Gaze soft, Drew took a moment to look down at her before shuffling in closer, head resting atop hers affectionately,ย โYou know Iโm always here.โ He would adhere to that to the best of his abilities.ย โThat sounds like a nice day, though. Word of advice, if youโre tired enough, Cat can also give out good advice. I swear by it,โ He teased, though soon came to scoff at her suggestion.ย โDonโt be ridiculous, youโre already doing enough for me as it is.โย
teddyvxlentinoโ:
When Drew piped up, Teddy knew that he was about to show his concerned doctor side. In hindsight she shouldnโt have mentioned her wonderful day to him, especially since Teddy had met him when sheโd needed some extra help to patch herself up. Or rather, kept needing help being patched up on certain jobs. โWellโฆcoffee helps my headache? And I mean, I havenโt gotten to see you outside the hospital for awhile so, I thought itโd be fun to catch up.โ She explained as if she hadnโt just told Drew that sheโd injured herselfโฆagain. That part probably couldโve been left out. โHey hey Doc, youโll be happy to hear that these rich folks who hired me had me checked out by their family doctorโsince Iโm Italian I legally canโt tell you if they were that type of family that stereotypically has a family doctorโbut he checked me out.โ Teddy replied, waving her finger at him slightly, hoping he would calm down a little. She really appreciated that he cared, but she also just wanted to hang out with her friend outside of the ER.
Eyes narrowed as they examined the features of the girl, searching for any sight of mistruth. Over the time that theyโd known one another, it had become glaringly clear that they had different standards of health and safety. Teddy could have come to him half dead and claim that she was okay. So, it was fair to say thatย his skepticism had been warranted. Still, the last thing Drew wanted was to be overbearing. She seemed okay, and if anything were to happen, at least he would be there.ย โFine,โ came a sigh, shoulders dropping,ย โBut the second I sense anything wrong, Iโm taking you in.โ He crossed his arms as he leant back in his seat.ย โCanโt believe you went to another doctor,โ he muttered with a playful huff,ย โDo I mean nothing to you?โย
madibvโ:
โMaybe. I thought you liked being buttered up,โ Madison responded in a teasing tone, returning the nudge. Either way, she meant her words and she hoped her knew that. He was hands down one of the few people she would talk to the most, so she thought it was rather obvious. With his nod, she walked along side him as they left the hospital. At his words, she placed a hand over her chest dramatically and smiled,ย โWell thatโs just the sweetest thing youโve ever said to me.โ She laughed some before shaking her head, responding in a more serious tone now,ย โNah, no need. Heโs harmless. But I do appreciate you. He lives in my building. Same floor and everything so itโs hard to avoid him at times. You ever had a stalker?โ She asked, turning the attention on him now.
An arm slung over her shoulder, chuckle rumbling through his chest as he gave her an affectionate squeeze,ย โOnly by you, kid.โ They fell into step easily then; a casual stroll, much unlike the usual rushing about they did within the hospital. It was a nice change. โLook, as long as he isnโt overstepping any boundaries. Donโt be afraid to call him out on it if he does. None of that polite, passive aggressive stuff, either. You donโt owe anybody shit, least of all a guy that wants your attention.โ The casual manner in which she had asked the following question had Drewโs face screwing up, head tilting ever so slightly as he looked down to meet her gaze.ย โI canโt say I have. I wouldnโt say Iโm interesting enough to. Is that a rite of passage nowadays, having a stalker? Am I missing out on something?โย
ย ย ย ย ๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐'๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ as he peeled upon his bleary eyes. The world was washed clinical white. Filled with the sounds of monitors and the kindly voices of nurses. His head throbbed. His stomach lurchedโฆย Bollocks. The next thought that flitted through his mind was that he hoped Drew hadnโt been attending. It had been a while since the last lecture about his habits but Finley had had high hopes heโd avoid another for the forseeable future. He was well due one though. He hardly remembered the night before. Blinking, he tried to fit the pieces together but instead his gaze found the very person that would put it back together for him. And metaphorically whack him upside the head while he did it. โโEllo.โ Finley croaked with a smile that belied his shame and general malaise. โYou look like rubbish.โ It was true, he did look like rubbish. Well, at least as rubbish as a handsome bugger like Drew could look. Working overtime, no doubt. But however bad Drew looked, Finley looked a thousand times worse.ย โ @drewinstonโ
Drew should have been home. He should have been sleeping soundly on a king-sized bed, with a mattress that cost far too much money. Instead, he had been by his idiot friendโs bedside, cramped up on a chair meant for people half his height. Still, there was no anger or frustration felt by him, merely concern for the otherโs wellbeing. Theyโd ended up under similar circumstances far too many times,ย and Drew had to wonder why. It was dangerous. โIf only you could take a look in the mirror,โ the older of the two countered, cracking a tired smile. โNice to see you awake, though. Didnโt think it would be for another couple of hours, considering how much alcohol you had in your system.โ He wouldnโt beat around the bush. Clearly there needed to be some conversation about it. Despite the sternness in his voice, Drewโs actions had been gentle as he offered Finley his water, holding steady the straw to his lips,ย โDrink. Then you can tell me all about why you were going that hard on a Sunday night.โย
I really clowned myself into thinking that I would get more than one reply done tonight yikes /-: My activity has not been the greatest (we can thank University for that), but Iโll for sure be around tomorrow. If anybody wants to get anything started with either Drew or Freya let me know ! For now I need to sleep soย ๐ย yโall better have a good dayย

โSeriously? โBacking out that easily huh?โ Rob gave a confident smirk as he drank the rest of his drink.ย โFine, but this will be a match to remember.โ He laughed lightly, despite the compeititon he enjoyed the fun aspect out of it.ย โSeriously?โ He furrowed his eyebrows, yearning a loud laugh but he chuckled shrugging.ย โI mean, I didnโt have a best manโSo, it would be my honour. So you would consider gettinโ married? Honestly mateโฆโ He shook his head grimaced.ย โโWorst thing I ever did, and the rings? Fuckin expensive.โ He commented.ย โOkay, so yes I am hereโWhat do you out of work? Do you have a partner? Whereโs your apartment? I know youโre from hereโBut do you have a family? There yaโ go, thereโs half my twenty questions finished.โ He was genuinely interested, he worked with this guy every day closelyโhow he didnโt know much about him was mental to Rob.ย โOoh, you got me.โ He raised both his hands, giving a wink.ย โIโll just give it back when yaโ get married.โ He joked lightly.
โYouโre the worst,โ Drew concluded. He shrugged at the following question, feeling rather abash. Talking about feelings, or anything more than their usual shallow, small talk, had been uncharted territory. But if he had been willing to take that step forward, then why turn away? โI think I would. I think with anything, things could end up turning into the worst case scenario. But you want to try to be the exception, you know? That might just be the idealist in me.โ Questions continued to be spouted out, but Drew found himself much more comfortable and able to share. The alcohol could be half thanked for that.ย โLook, man. You know as well as I do that we barely get time out of work. Iโm asleep most of the time, if not Iโm at the gym. On rare occasions I get dragged out into some club or party, but I like to worm my way out of them. I donโt currently have a partner, no. My apartmentโs in Brooklyn Heights, and uh...the family thingโs complicated.โ He leant back on his seat, then, hands gesturing to his companion.ย โYour turn.โ

after trying to fall asleep for several hours and failing, stevie found herself on the rooftop of the apartment building. it had started with the idea of a cigarette. while it dangled between her lips, the brunette grew distracted by the moon and stars, then again by some arguing happening on the street. the latter got most of her attention, until she started noticing the weather changing, as her bedtime t-shirt and shorts were no longer enough to keep her warmโฆ then the door opened, and the brunette found herself turning around immediately to face the newcomer, shoulders tensed. whoโd come up here at this hour? but when she saw the familiar, yet tired, face of her neighbor, she relaxed, offered him a smile.ย โhello stranger, welcome home.โ she spoke after grabbing the cigarette and putting it between her fingers.ย โiโd love to give you grief about the time, but i have no idea what time it is anymore. was work okay tonight?โ she paused to give him a playful, yet accusatory finger.ย โdid you eat yet?โ | ( @drewinstonโ )
Over the past few weeks of Stevie finding comfort in his space, Drew had grown accustomed to finding her present at odd hours of the night. So to come home to his apartment empty had been...disconcerting. Even more cause of concern had been the mess of sheets left on the couch; very uncharacteristic of the girl, who never failed to leave the place as it was. Minuscule as the detail had been, it rung alarm bells in his mind. With no such thought of his tiredness, Drew had equipped himself with a blanket and set off to look forย her. The first place he thought to look? The roof. Over the course of their friendship, it had become somewhat of a safe haven for the two, being witness to their tear or laughter-filled conversations. If not her apartment, he was certain she would be loitering about there.ย
โThis would have been a much nicer welcome if we were in the warmth of my apartment,โ the male teased lightly, a gentle smile upon his lips,ย โAnd the time? Well, itโs time for you to be sleeping soundly.โ Approaching her, Drew draped the blanket over her shoulders, squeezing gently at them, a gesture meant to comfort her because without even really having to ask, he knew why sleep seemed to be evading her.ย โWork was okay. Slow today, but itโs a privilege to be able to say that. As for my eating habits...Iโm not getting into that with you right now.โ He was well aware that if she knew of todayโs choice of meal, he would have his ear talked off.ย โHow are you, uh...How are you feeling? What did you get up to while I was gone?โ

It was from across the room that he spotted them, looking as if theyโd rather be anywhere else, and Drew understood. The dressing up, the lavish party? He, himself had attended enough to last him a lifetime. But it was a fundraiser for the hospital, he would have been an asshole not to attend. At the very least, he could rejoice in the fact that there would be good company.ย
