❝Why do they always forget my bacon?❞
ekiscntorikku:
“You know who? Is this about that Lockhart guy again? Because, actually, I don’t know who. You even said: You don’t wanna know. And proceeded to tell me nothing about him, but if he’s such bad news, perhaps it’s better I don’t know. Easier to play dumb when the authorities question us if I truly know nothing. So how are we going to do it then?”
“Lockhart----c’mon man!” Dorian barked out a laugh, shaking his head, “I think he’s been brought down enough, but nah, I’m talking about Jac’s old man. I know he doesn’t exactly like me but----you know, I don’t like making her upset her parents by being with me, y’know? I just wish there were some way to bring him down to reality so he can see I’m not no good for her.”

❝I want to bring down you know who.❞
jaqcarrow:
“Melody won’t let you do that.” She countered, taking his hand in hers. “I feel like we won’t get to make use of it – seems I’m the only one that’s prepared and seeing as there are a lot of people who can’t stick it out. It’ll be crowded.” The reason why she was that prepared? ummer had taught her a lot about her family; about her own sense of survival and if her parents could throw her out without any guilt – well she didn’t exactly trust much else. Her smile tightened a s she tugged him towards the trees. “Not so bad but that might be because I missed you. So, count your lucky stars, Dory, not many pureblood girls would be caught dead roughing it in a tree house even with their boyfriend. So, which tree do we start with?”
“Trust me, Melly will blame me if something goes wrong-----I think she’d like to give her first detention as Head Girl to her brother, don’t you?” He joked, giving her a wink as they moved towards the trees. “Yeah, why’ve you got a tent anyway, J? Anticipating a train breakdown? Or were you planning to ask me to camp out under the stars with you once we got to Hogwarts----getting all romantic on me, huh? Thought that was my job.” He felt a warmth bloom in his chest at her words---she had missed him, just like he had missed her----and tugged her against him for another hug, murmuring softly “Count myself lucky everyday, Carrow.” He spun her around, motioning to the large tree in front of them, “This one look good to you, Miss Prefect?”
annamoons:
Hearing low, hushed taunts directed at the first years, Anna huffed, rolling her eyes.
“– If I hear ‘it was a dark and stormy night’ one more time, I’ll give you something to actually be afraid of.”
“Aw, c’mon, I’m personally, very interested in knowing what happened on a dark and stormy night!” Dorian joined her, looking at the younger student speaking in rapt anticipation; that is, until the students in question excused themselves and ran off. “Ah, guess we’ll never know. How you doing, Moon? You a big fan of impromptu camping trips?”
mshacklebolt:
“Of course I’m in!! Who the fuck do you think I is, Dory??” Melody went to hug her brother, making sure the sound of her cursing was for his ears only. “Can you BELIEVE some of these jokers are ready to sleep in tents?? Good ol’ muggle tents too. This is exactly what magic’s for. I’ve been helping the younger years set up but they’ve been in such a frenzy.”
“Melly Shacklebolt comin’ through!” Dorian clapped a hand on her shoulder, grin lighting up his face, “Let’s show these clowns what the Shacklebolts can do----muggle tents? Nah, no way, we’ll show ‘em the light. Jac’s gonna decorate and everything---test her transfiguration skills, she says, but I know she’s just as excited as we are.” Dorian smiled, softer but still teasing, “So, ready to give up the Head Girl badge after dealing with all the hysterical first-years yet? Who knew you signed on to manage a train breakdown?”
ekiscntorikku:
“Permanent sticking charms can hold that much weight to them?” Daisuke had never tested the charms’ limits himself, so he was going to go on Dorian’s expertise in the matter. “And who is Golderoy Lockhart anyway, some idol?” Eight years in the United Kingdom and there were still references that were lost on him. A grin curling up on his face, he reached for his wand so that they could get to work. “Perfect. You, as the Gryffindor, can be the brawns of the operation while me and Carrow are the brains,” he deadpanned, a lace of teasing in his tone. “You picked out a good tree to put it yet?”
“How’d you think the Weasley’s kept their house upright all those years ago?” It wasn’t said without affection----the Burrow had, when he was younger, been the coolest house he’d ever seen. He laughed at his friend’s question ,”Trust me, you don’t wanna know. Just know that Mel’d got a big ol’ crush on him---” Not true, but her reaction to hearing that would be priceless, “And she’ll try to deny it but it’s true. Yeah, it’s just a few steps into the woods. Sturdy enough, I think, but you can check too, c’mon.”
daisleydursey:
“So your sibling – and your girlfriend – are a source of accountability?” Daisy teased from her perch on the tree. She sat on the same branch she started climbing from, swinging her short legs back and forth, her trainers barely skimming the ground. “My brothers would probably jump of their own accord and break a limb, if they were here.” She tapped her wand on her chin a few times. “Yeah, guess so. D’you have an incantation in mind?”
“They think about the whole responsibility angle of things, and who am I to try and change the women I love? So you learn to roll with it,” Dorian barked out a laugh, “I didn’t know you had brothers---how many? To be honest there was probably a time when I woulda done it too. Probably would’ve bounced right back though, magic and all.” He pulled out his wand, thoughtful for a moment before waving it in a complicated pattern, severing one of the branches from the tree and watching as it expanded and flattened until it resembled something like the floor of a house. “I think we start with placing that and then build the walls around it, yeah?”
jaqcarrow:
“Mhm.” She agreed hesitantly, wrapping her arms around him as he pulled her close. “If you are for sure building it then – I guess you’ll need my help but I’m a prefect. I’ll be held accountable for anything questionable about it or that happens in it.” Jac pushed her lower lip out in a pout though it quickly disappeared. “I have been working on transfiguration aesthetics over the summer. Maybe they will come in use?”
“I’ll take full responsibility, yeah?” His voice was muffled, somewhat, as he pressed his lips into her hair. “And yeah, you can deck the whole place out if you’d like, whatever you want----I’m sure it’ll look great. And if it doesn’t then we still got that fancy tent of yours. See, camping with me ain’t so bad, huh Carrow?”
ekiscntorikku:
“You know I’m always up for the challenge, but what kind of support method are we going to use? Post method might be the most practical, since we can do that without bolts. And how do you propose we do it without tools? We could probably use our wands as drills, but do you know how to charm up nails?”
Dorian groaned, though in truth he was grateful that he could always count on Daisuke to worry about the logistics of things so he didn’t have to. “Ah, ah, ah, why do we need nails in the first place when we’ve got permanent sticking charms, D? Melly still can’t get the picture of Gilderoy Lockhart off of her mirror at home that I stuck on there one summer. We just gotta make sure everything's in the right place. Jac’s even on board, this is gonna be great!”
girlablcze:
Zara beamed at his suggestion, bouncing on the soles of her feet. “Yes! If more people want to build some, we should make, like, bridges between them so we can visit each other. Oooh, and a climbing frame between some of the trees — sort of like a jungle gym? Oh, and maybe we could make a swing set!”
“See, this is what I like to hear----enthusiasm! Let’s do it, make a regular village in the trees, it’ll be great.” Dorian gave her a sideways glance, “You ever built a treehouse before?”
daisleydursey:
“My one rule in life is as follows: no one dies,” Daisy confirmed. She scrambled onto a low-hanging branch and began scaling the tree quickly, careful to keep one hand and one foot on the tree at all times, the way her brothers taught her. She peered at Dorian from between the leaves. “It looks fine to me,” she called down, grateful she was still in civilian clothes fit for the outdoors (though wishing she’d thought to bring a jumper). “Are you gonna transfigure some of these branches into a house, or–” She jumped from a higher branch to one further down. “Make ‘em grow into the thing itself?”
“Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t get away with really putting anyone at risk---Mel’s Head Girl, and if she weren’t Jac would still have my ass if anyone got hurt, so we’ll make sure it’s safe.” He stood back, looking on as she scaled from branch to branch, giving an impressed nod, “Aight, this is the one, then. I was thinking use the bigger branches as the base to hold the house, and transfigure the smaller ones into the parts of the house, what do you think?”
daisleydursey:
“I’m little,” Daisy insisted by way of protest, but she followed him further into the forest anyway. “Every tree is tall to me, but I don’t mind helping so long as I can make sure everyone’s safe. Is architecture a passion of yours?”
“Little with a wand, yeah?” Dorian grinned, moving deeper into the woods, but not by much (he didn’t want to risk anyone actually getting lost). “Yeah, yeah, we’ll even have everyone’s favorite Head Boy Mikey Mac test for structural integrity if it makes you feel better?” He pointed up to a tree with a particularly thick trunk and sturdy branches, “What about this one?”
tcdwardlupin:
❝I’m surrounded by idiots.❞ @dshacklebolt
“Teddy, c’mon, the first and second year are gonna hear you---they have feelings too!”
daisleydursey:
“I am not a downer!” Daisy insisted. “I’m a..sensible-er. It just seems like a lot of work for very little reward. Will you take it all down once the train gets fixed?”
He shrugged, “Maybe---or maybe I oughtta leave it in case some other stranded soul needs it, y’know? Either way, it’s gotta be big, which means we need a big tree. Wanna help me look?”
jaqcarrow:
“There’s logic with magic too.” She argued. “I do have faith but even with magic you have to be precise and accurate because it can be made unstable just by a frivolous thought. I have a nice expensive tent in my trunk that we can use instead?”
“I’ve got a lock on accuracy and precision, no need to worry,” He planted a kiss on the top of her head, tugging her into a light embrace, “But if it makes you feel better, we’ll sleep in the tent. I am building a treehouse though, Jac.” He grabbed her hands leaning back to stare down at her, “Sure you don’t wanna help? I’ve gotta be precise and accurate, y’know.”
daisleydursey:
“—–pal, I love your plucky, can-do-it attitude and all, but I’m going to be honest: that sounds like a no good, very bad, terrible idea.”
“Aw, c’mon Daisy Duke, no need to be a downer----I’ll build a ladder and everything. Charms some nets all around----no first year fallin’ out of a tree on my watch.”
