I cried right when I awoke...

AHA! Shrouded in darkness once again….. Had a stupidly vivid dream about my dog and my ex…. it was actually a really good dream; which makes it all the worse… i wish i could go back to experience it- one. last. time… i miss my dog… stupid of me, but i miss them both.

“Goals”

We have people comment from time to time about how they look at @nefariouskinks and my dynamic as “goals”… I love seeing these comments, they are super sweet and I like to think we have the type of relationship that showcases a decent example of how D/s can work (for us at least).

I share a lot of highlights from our relationship: funny moments, swoon worthy moments, glowing subspace moments… the good stuff.

But I also want to share some not so good moments. Last week alone we had two very rough nights. Rushed aftercare, a shut down of communication and different understandings of what was going to happen. It led to some hurt feeling, a lot of tears, and we both found ourselves and our dynamic in a funk. It can happen anytime. We are still human and mistakes can be made even when we try our best to prevent them.

Personally, I let my emotions overwhelm me. They swarmed me and caused me to go silent, unable and unwilling to talk about it. I was trying to bottle up my thoughts and the weight pulled me under quickly, which ended up making things exponentially worse.

We found our way out of that situation by slowing things down and patching together our communication, sharing how we felt while also fully listening to how the other felt. Putting everything out on the table and sorting it, what was making things worse and what we needed more of to help. Reevaluating what our dynamic needed to make sure we are both getting what we personally need also.

And the biggest help that finally soothed everything over was us going back to the basics of just enjoying each other’s company. Our dynamic was still there, it’s always there because we both need it to be, but there was no heavy play. No scenes, no games. Just a kitten soaking up time with her Daddy.

The rough times feel big in the moment but it’s important to both of us to put in the effort to get past them. The ability to come together and mutually find a solution for these rough times is “goal” worthy to me.

So much truth spoken here.

I believe that every relationship will have its lows, but it’s how you build back up from those lows that really define your relationship. When I read a post like this from my Kitten (besides the fact I already knew of it before it was posted), I don’t look at it in a negative light. The bad week is only a building block… a low point to build on.

It’s important to not over think things and realize that the moment might not always be fixable, in that moment. Things take time, but what’s important is not giving up.
