Clementine paused as she heard her name from the stranger, only to meet the other’s eyes and then her expression fell in shock. “D-Duck?” She asked, looking over to Javi as he handed her hat back to her. She pushed herself to her feet and looked Duck over a little more before tears welled in her eyes. “O-Oh my god…”
“You know him, Clem?” Javier asked hesitantly, though he didn’t get his answer as Clementine hugged her long lost friend. He was still tense in case the other teen acted aggressively in return.
“No way.” He uttered quietly to himself as he pulled the girl tightly into a hug. He squeezed her tightly and pressed his cheek against the top of her head. He thought that Clementine was dead. He thought after they had been separated for the second time he’d never see Clementine or his father again.
“What the actual fuck.” Duck uttered with teary eyes, looking down at Clem. She’d grown up so much.

“Well, we found some seeds. I think Javi wants to try planting them, but something tells me plant husbandry isn’t his thing.” Clementine commented with a shrug, though she did dig into her backpack for a moment before holding up a thing of crackers and cheese. “When’s the last time you’ve seen one of these?”
“Holy shit!” Duck exclaimed with a small laugh. He stared at the snack in Clementine’s hand and smiled. “My mom used to put these in my lunches all the time for school. I haven’t seen one of those in years!”

Javi quickly ran over in case Clem needed help, but she just growled and glared at him. “Asshole!” She cursed, not even realizing that she’d lost her hat in the process.
“Whoa whoa whoa! Easy, look we don’t want any trouble. Please, just let us leave.” Javi said, slowly reaching down to pick up his friend’s hat.
The boy didn’t take his eyes off the girl as the older one approached. He had no patience for strangers wasting his time.
“Take another step closer and I’ll...” He started, aiming at the space right between the girl’s eyes. Something caught his attention about her; a feeling of nostalgia, of familiarity. He trailed off in his speech and lowered his pistol slightly as a bewildered look formed on his face.
“...Clementine...?”

“Find anything good while you and Javier were out there?” The teenager asked, rummaging through his own backpack with his good hand.
Javier, getting beaten up by David: I love you brother!

The sound of a pistol cocking caught Javi’s attention, he looked behind Duck and shook his head. “No, no. Clem, it’s okay!”
“Put the gun down. Now.” The teen demanded, glaring towards the other with a sharp yellow gaze. Despite her best efforts, she came to like Javi and his family. So now they were kinda her problem. “I’m not gonna say it again.”
This hadn’t been the first time he’d been in a situation like this. Without thinking, he ducked down quickly and sweep kicked the threatening figure behind him. The girl fell to the ground hard, and her own pistol fell out of her hand. Duck held his gun tightly in his hand, cocking it with his stump.
“I’m sorry, did you want to fuckin’ run that by me again?”
