I recently got a water pick because I despise the experience of flossing with a pick/string and always have, which makes actually doing it really hard. So it’s really nice in the sense that I don’t feel like I’m pitting my hand and my mouth against each other in a convoluted anatomical wrestling match but holy shit this thing straight up punches your teeth/gums with water

I thought it would be closer in vibe to the hoses dentists/hygienists use to rinse out your mouth but like a bit stronger but it is so much more intense

10/10 would recommend if you dislike flossing on an ergonomic level like I do but be prepared for a pummeling

FAT FUCK DOWN

Well deserved title of the hardest hunt in the game holy shit. Have to say though, these videos (skills/food and fight strategy) were a huge help. I didn’t even really follow the skills super closely (because I loathe grinding for decos) nor use SnS (because I have no skill on any other weapon) and was able to do well because I followed the siege weapon playbook and went bananas on ZSD, tenderizing, and throws like they showed.

A further shoutout to @deathsascension for suggesting Golden Rathian + Raging Brachy stuff because holy hell those skills are goated. I had those sets as potential Alatreon builds but didn’t end up using them in favor of Namielle Gamma so I’m happy those gear pieces got to help with an even harder fight later down the line

The video has three builds but I opted for two. My weapon has two health regen augments and one defense augment. My Palico had the Kitty-of-the-Valley weapon for para. I think it proc’d twice but I accidentally canceled the first one by flinching Fatty with a dragon pod right as the para hit (I swear I saw the para particle effects but I could be wrong). Any gadget besides the Bugtrapper and Plunderer ones will contribute positively so it’s just a matter of taste/areas you need extra help in

This is the “Kaboom” build, for doing siege stuff (cannons, roaming ballista, and one-shot binders). This build was not meant to stay in the fight for super long so I didn’t upgrade any of the armor to save time on my prep. For bomb placement, I paused the vid found a sort of crescent-shaped burn pattern on the ground to align myself with which worked pretty well

And this is the “Zero Skill Discharge” build, pretty similar to what I was running before I found the video but I tweaked a bit, especially in the mantle department. I didn’t use it but the video does, but Peak Performance is really goated here. You can easily out-heal Fatty’s damage (when using Rocksteady, doesn’t matter with Temporal ofc) while you ZSD. I was shocked by how healthy I was staying.

I love the outfit and customization options for splatoon raiders, it's always interesting seeing how splatoon uses different human items. The weapons are especially fun

Making this quest 30 mins long was borderline cruel, that said, I love (most of) Velk’s attacks in this one. Very exhilarating and fast paced, reminds me of the first time I fought Primordial Malzeno

If anyone ends up reading this and needs a tip for this fight, I’d say don’t be afraid of her clutch claw punisher. She gives very generous openings during basically all of her grounded breath attacks, ESPECIALLY the one that slows you that she combos with a tail stab if you get caught in it. Since she enrages after a slam anyways, you also get plenty of attempts to turn her into a wall without fear of squandering a second throw.

It’s all good! I think I’d agree with that placement but Alatreon being a full length hunt definitely makes fighting him less intense once you’re used to him, even on my first winning attempt I had a good chunk of time left. It’s just that he can be sooooo annoying if he enrages in the air and you have to wait a millennium for him to land/un-enrage which can really mess up your horn break/elemental topple time (also his ice-active form loves to stall with that hovering ice breath that hits through mantle attack)

I haven’t won against Fatalis (or Safi but I want Fatalis’ weapons first) yet but he’s next on my to-do list

trust me i would know . i have over 40 alatreon kills, it's by far my most hunted monster in the entire game, and im going for sub 10 minutes and my pb is around 11 mins

the hovering ice breath is a free tenderize or ZSD btw! ice-active alatreon is the version i am trying to get sub10 on actually, because a lot of ice and thunder attacks give hella damage openings compared to fire and dragon attacks

i say alatreon is just as hard from the perspective of doing the unnerfed special assignment on tier for the first time, and i was actually stuck on it for the longest out of the three endgame hunts mentioned (2 weeks; though i believe alatreon gave me the necessary skill boost for fatalis and that's why i was able to beat the latter in only 10 days of GRUELLING practice)

AT velkhana is weird, i could get it to skull in like 15 minutes and almost time out anyway despite her low HP LOLLLL

by the way, for fatalis i recommend lightbreak axe and raging brachy + golden lune armor pieces

it's what ive been using for both ala and fatalis until i got fatalis pieces

defence won't stop fatalis from 2-shotting you but divine blessing level 5 will it's cracked

GODDAMN. 11 mins is an insane time, hope you get sub 10 soon! The Special Assignment one just throwing you in with no prep time and inability to farcast away is rough but since they only do that once (as far as I can remember) I think it's alright since its to make the opening cutscene more dramatic. Plus allowing farcasters would completely trivialize bringing the right element, Eschaton, and breaking the horns On my most recent run at Fatalis (which I think I got down to 20% remaining before timing out -- since he did two of those cone-shaped novas), I used the Alatreon armor + weapon but did note that Agitator would go crazy since he's enraged for freaking forever later on (also I like it for giving me a far more noticeable alert that I can slam a monster again). I've thankfully already got those armor sets and weapon (nuke on a stick my beloved) so I'll definitely try your suggestion out next attempt.

i got sub 10!!! 9:58 but it counts LOLLL i think i can do better if i locked in harder

another good skill to slot in for fatalis is coalescence, because it only gives you fireblight and there's a lot of water on the ground, i also had blight resist 2 so i dont need to be on water to instantly cure fireblight

the damage boost is kinda crazy and it's also active most of the time because everything burns you, but it's not nearly as detrimental to get a blight as on alatreon

The SA was augmented with four elemental upgrades and one defense upgrade (just to fill the last slot). I ate for Insurance and also happened to snag Weakener as a daily skill too. After I carted and could eat again I ate for Safeguard and Weakener by drinking 6 steins of beer so I was able to cart three times but only one of them counted
