Notice how you rarely hear a pagan say 'Epic The Musical was extremely disrespectful because it wasn't played by a greek/wasn't a true depiction'. Or, when a Muslim or a Jewish person, or a Hindu person simply says 'Hey, this was kinda disrespectful to our culture' they get called snowflakes or told to 'just deal with it'.
If this double standard wasn't still extremely prevalent amongst most people (not just religious people. Some atheists are just assholes too), I would have more sympathy. But, Catholics and Christians, where is your outcry for pagans when we're reduced down to just being blood sacrificial witches who are a threat to your children (exactly like how you perpetuate Drag Queens and LGBTQ+ to be). Where is your outcry when the Hindu religion, the Jewish religion, the Muslim religion is bastardized by media? I understand "Respect everyone's religion" but I'm just pointing out the fact that Respect goes BOTH ways. You don't get to cry over yourselves, but then ignore other people's complaints about how their religion is depicted in some media.
When we truly drop this double standard of 'Don't sexualize my religion! Don't view my religion in bad faith!" Then we will hear you and listen and understand. But not when you turn a blind eye to the exact same thing that happens to other religions. Because other religions also get sexualized. Some don't mind it, others mind it a lot. Those religions who also have the same complaints deserve to be heard just like you do. "Respect religion" does not translate to "Respect the dominant religions and ignore the others".
