I really like the idea of Leo not knowing he’s queer until, like, well into his 30s.
To be clear, I like the interpretation that he’s very aware and comfortable with his sexuality, but I just personally resonate with the idea that he doesn’t know a lot more.
It’s clear that he’s quite repressed, especially with the way he responds to the health complications after the explosion. He refuses to acknowledge that he’s still not the same strength he was before the accident, and I think this probably comes from his inability to feel weak.
He was bullied for conceivably all of his childhood until Adam showed up, and then after he left, it probably started right back up again. He probably developed this deep-seated fear of being perceived as weak, and I assume those bullies saw his queerness before him, so after leaving school, he probably felt a need to repress everything that he felt made him weak.
That queerness probably was repressed right down with it. He probably shoved it right down the minute Adam left.
