Congratulations on your recent return from the dead! As one of the lucky few who’ve achieved such a thing, you’ve earned some special little bonuses. Of course, there’s a second chance at life, though admittedly the paperwork will likely be a pain and reintegration isn’t always a smooth go, but also you’re now eligible to partake in Dungeons! And as we all know, that means getting to discover your own unique set of skills to aid in traversing the Dungeons.
Of course, stumbling into the mysteries of the Tragic Twelve was never part of the speel they gave you when you became a Player. Nor was the sudden contracts with the deceased members of Nilrex Guild, the Players whose massacre revealed a truth no one wanted: you only get two tries at life.

Play as a newly returned to life Player with necromatic abilities
Get adopted by a trouble magnet with floppy ears and a habit of stowing away in order to escape said trouble.
Figure out the mystery of the Tragic Twelve - a series of traumatic events that resulted in the involved Players 'retiring' and refusing to enter Dungeons, assuming they didn't end up ultimately vanishing from the face of the earth. The culmination of these tragedies, the Nilrex Guild Annihilation, was the first time anyone realized that Players who die die.
--------------------------------
This is my first attempt at IF. Things will change and honestly, I'm figuring things out along the way in terms of characters and whatnot. Honestly I'm not sure if there will be any elements of romance in this.
Updates are likely to be on the slower side. I work two jobs and don't have days off.
Honestly, I'm not entirely sure if this will be ChoiceScript or Twine. Since this is my first IF, I'm not at all familiar with how the coding process works on either platform so it'll be a matter of which one I understand in the end.
--------------------------------
CW: child death, more CW will be added as they arise!
-Danny
Danny, as the sole survivor of Nilrex, has been deemed MIA by the public, leading to plenty of speculation as to whether or not they were involved in the massacre. However, when you find yourself in danger, it's Danny who keeps you alive. Does that mean they plan to stick around? No, not at all. But with your new allies refusing to let you leave Danny be, it's certain that Danny's going to be playing a role in your life. Whether that's something Danny wants or not remains to be seen.
-Rowe
The mysterious guild leader of Nilrex, Rowe may have died twice already but that doesn't mean they're about to let that stop them. Despite their best efforts to appear the least of the guild, there's a reason they led so many whacky, frankly overpowered, Players without anyone staging an uprising. At least, a serious uprising. Apparently Fridays were 'stage a coup' days. Regardless, Rowe's leading you down a path, just like they did the guild. Where that path leads remains to be seen.
-Divondra
The drag queen vice guild leader of Nilrex, even a second death won't stop Divondra. Wrangling the guild members may be what Divondra was best known for, but there's certainly more to them than just that. Divondra's always been Rowe's greatest help, whether that's been in terms of things with the guild or just in general life, but will they do the same for you?
-Tallulah
Past, present, or future, Tallulah's the crankiest healer you'll ever meet. The oldest known Player, she's quite simply fed up. And quite frankly, she doesn't care to try and hide that in the least. Even so, without Tallulah, the guild would've been in trouble a whole lot more than they were. Because while Tallulah will gladly tell you how you messed up when you get injured, serious injuries are likely to get her attention, particularly if you manage to get on the short list of those she gives an ounce of care about. So will you make it onto that list?
Alouette
-The peacemaker of Nilrex, Alouette is the calming influence, the patient ear, the shoulder to cry on, and the waiting hug for comfort. She's also five pounds of hidden craziness when someone messes with the guild. Alouette has a frustrating habit at being good, if not excellent, at most things she tries but she won't rub that in your face. No, instead she'll just encourage you to try all sorts of new things. Does that mean you'll get dragged along according to her whims at times? Yes, yes it does. But where exactly those whims lead? Well, that you'll have to tag along to find out.
Zykelle
-Zykelle's probably the biggest doofus you'll find but he's got a good heart and will always step up to keep others safe. Part overgrown puppy, part personal cheer squad, Zykelle's always there when you need someone. Are his ideas always the best? Not necessarily. They've been known to blow up in his face at times. Does that bother him? Not in the least! Sometimes it's funnier even, once you're out of danger that is. And really, that smiling moment of peace is all Zykelle really needs. Care to find out how often he'll bring that about for you?
Aidan
-Nilrex's resident chaos gremlin and trouble making prankster, Aidan is one you cannot take your eyes off of if you want things to go 'smooth' or 'peacefully'. But if you're looking for a fun time or a laugh? He's your guy. If there's any sort of mayhem to be found, you can bet Aidan's going to be smack dab in the middle of it. becoming Aidan's partner in crime however means you've got all the insanity he brings along on your side, rather than against you. So just how many people will the two of you drive nuts?
Addy
-The baby sweetheart of Nilrex, Addy loves everyone she meets and is never seen without some kind of animal or creature near by. Addy always sees the best in everyone and everything. But it's best to remember that while Addy herself tends to be on the more harmless side, her 'friends' don't always fall into that same category. Addy's got a habit of opening people up to new experiences and you can bet that she'll be there with you through any aftermath of it too. Probably wanting nothing more than to snuggle with you throughout it all. C'mon, how many cuddle sessions can you get in?
Reveka
-Reveka's sass, sarcasm, and smart assery all rolled up in one. Playing nice with others is a setting Reveka hasn't really turned on in years but they're not as cantankerous as Tallulah. Reveka's the one you go to for an adventure, to try something new. You can certainly bet that this one won't let you back down or chicken out. Don't be surprised if hanging around Reveka leads to a fight. Though, a bit of forewarning, Reveka's not exactly...great at physical combat. And yet, Reveka's one of the first to jump to the aid of those around them when it comes down to it. In other words, be prepared for more than a few bar brawls with Reveka around. Might want to take up the running tally the guild had going before.
Spent two days in the ER with mom. She's home now and we're both off for a few days to give her time to recover. I'm off to make sure someone's around to help her out with things and that she's taking the medicine they prescribed and all of that fun stuff. Honestly, just glad she's home. I'll try to work on the demo during this time but main priority is mom and her health. Hopefully the next update for you all will be good news about the demo.
So like I mentioned in my previous post, one of my D&D group has released a book on Amazon. Here's the link to it!
Desperate in Dimpkin (A FLUF Inc Novel) [Misery, Tarina F.] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Desperate in Dimpkin (A FLU
They're also working on the next book and I believe they mentioned possibly doing some one offs that will tie back to the main storyline too. That part's still in the planning and development stage from my understanding.
If you wind up checking it out, please let me know! I'd love to be able to share all your support with them. They really have been such a huge support to me with everything that's been going on and to be able to support them in return even just a little feels like a huge honor.
No pressure though! If it sounds like it's up your alley, definitely give it a try. If not, no harm no foul!
Honestly, for everyone who's stuck around even though I haven't posted anything or put out a demo, thank you. Truly. It's mind boggling to me to be honest.
I've got a bit of a long update to explain what's been going on in my life. I get that not everyone will want to read this so I'll sum it up first and then explain more under the cut.
Got a promotion at work, my laptop started doing weird things that meant I couldn't actually use it, and there's been a lot of health issues going on with my family, mainly my mom. Had a few health issues myself, not as major, and joined a D&D group, which is literally my one social activity and the only thing that's helped me stay sane with everything going on. Still, with all of that and working constantly....I haven't had a chance to work on putting out a demo for everyone.
Oh! Also, one of my D&D group has a book released on Amazon! If you want to check it out, I'll post the link in a separate thing.
Alright, so the nitty gritty of what's been going on.
My boss was after me for years to take this promotion. Like, she was even willing to help me transfer to another location to take this role. I kept refusing because, let's be real, I did NOT want to be more responsible for people's money. Eventually, I'd agreed but halfway through back offices put a stop to it. I don't even remember what for. So then I went on to train TWO others for that role. Which is honestly hilarious because since getting the role myself I've discovered I AM NOT FULLY TRAINED FOR THIS.
Fast forward a bit, and it's suddenly sprung on me that this promotion is actively happening and they're already like halfway through the promotion without having actually told me that at any stage. So that's fun, right? Anyway, a month or so later, my boss leaves and I'm in this new role that I'm still trying to figure out how to do. Thankfully, got a couple mentor figures for it so it's going alright.
As for the laptop...yeah, I still have no clue what that thing's doing. It'd work for an hour, two, three if I was lucky and then the thing would randomly shut down because it ran into a problem but would never actually say what it was. I gave up on it really. Got a new one just last week so here's hoping I can actually do stuff this time around!
As for the family health issues, most of it's been in regards to my mom. Out of nowhere, she started throwing up on a daily basis, multiple times a day. She couldn't keep any food down and lost 60 lbs in three months. Took me, my friends, and her co-workers telling her repeatedly that something was wrong about it before she finally agreed to go see a doctor. My mom is terrified of doctors, hospitals, the whole shebang. Childhood trauma coupled with my dad's shitty actions whenever she'd need to go to hospital for any reason. Well, a whole bunch of tests and, I kid you not, FOUR different doctors later, she is finally on the mend. Turns out she'd gotten a bacterial infection that then led to ulcers. The ulcers caused scar tissue to develop right above the opening to the small intestine so no food was getting through. She's been through four endoscopics, has her fifth one next week, a colonoscopy, and several other tests. Also, turns out she's got severe osteoperosis so now is having to do daily injections for two years. Months of her not being able to have anything but liquids have finally turned into her being allowed soft foods and things that don't require much chewing so that they can pass through.
My mom's twin had a partial kidney failure and my cousin's son had similar health stuff to my mom. Poor kid had to get surgery. they're also in another country so there's been all sorts of fun trying to get updates to and from them.
So yeah.....I've definitely been a bit preoccupied with life outside but I am hoping to finally get something out to all of you. Thank you again for all of your patience and support!
Unfortunately no progress update yet. It's been hectic at work lately and I haven't had a chance to get really anything done outside of it but did want to post this because legitimately what the hell just happened.
New fear/trauma unlocked. Went with mom to walmart tonight and figured I'd pick up a new lily while there because someone killed my previous one. While looking around the plants….I got locked in the plant room. Immediately called mom and could hear her trying to get the employees to fix the situation. One of them told her "open tomorrow morning, not tonight". Luckily mom was NOT letting that fly. We're home now thankfully but yeah….the idea of that happening would have NEVER crossed my mind.
Got a hell of a deal on a gaming laptop. Honestly was NOT expecting it.....but just over 300 with a two year protection plan on something that's normally over 1000? Yeah, I can definitely afford that!
Now to use it for working on finally getting something out to you guys!
Dunno about the rest of you....but I'm so ready to be done with things right now.
Phone call from a family member that pretty much destroyed my emotional state for the day. Wrote almost four full pages of drabble thing to work through emotional state. Just got a call someone side swipped mom in the rental (thankfully we paid for their insurance so we're not on the hook for that) and during that call got a bloody nose out of nowhere. Now waiting for mom to get home since I can't drive to her so we can fill out police report online. We'll have to call the rental place tomorrow to let them know since it's already 9 something
okay so, it's been a rough day. 620 in the morning we found out someone had tried stealing our car, failed, and caused quite a lot of damage. Cue several hours of run around with the cops (who wouldn't come out because we had no suspects) and insurance (who apparently dropped our rental coverage years ago without us knowing), having to wait around for a tow (which came around 1? 2? Don't remember), and trying to find a rental. It was like....3? By the time all that was sorted. Then running errands.
BUT before all that mayhem I found an old story thing I'd started writing. Since I haven't been able to finish the demo coding yet (thank you all for your patience again!) I wanted to share it with you all. It'll be under the cut so this doesn't clog up anyone's feed!
The room bares the signs of a struggle, even before the body is seen half underneath the bookcase, face down. Copper rusts the air, assaults the taste buds. The tool that wrought it stands near the window to the balcony, impassive gaze sweeping the room in a slow motion, its own tool held loosely in its grasp. Light, warm to the touch, it reflects nothing of the thing that holds it.
The world was in a fog, everything disconnected, removed, the way it had been for far too long. He knew the signs, usually, of an impending 'bad' day. Still, sometimes those days came out of nowhere, following dreams, nightmares, memories. Those were the worst ones. They clung, lingered, left him in what Val called a funk.
Last night, the memory had floated up, a damning reminder that no matter how he played at being an individual, a person now, at the core he was no 'he' but an 'it', a tool whose purpose was being forgotten. It was rusting away, trying to make the world and itself believe a lie even it didn't feel could ever be true, even on the better days.
Figured I'd hop on and give a quick update, just so you all know I'm still around.
My laptop fell a couple feet on Sunday? Monday? One of the two. Heads a bit foggy but we'll get to that. Anyway, luckily and honestly kinda impressively, it survived and still works. One corner is a little busted but that's it. So thankfully don't have to try to figure out how to afford a new one (which I'm gonna be real and say I can't right now).
As for my head, yesterday I managed to hit it twice in the exact same spot. First one was at the bank. Manager asked me to swap a cord between two stations and inches process of that, one of the plastic-y glass divider things that went up during the height of COVID fell and hit me on the left ide of the head. Cue building jeadache, then waves of headache versus especially normal, then it going away. Thiught nothing of it, went to second job. Headache came back so after talking to a manager about what'd happened, went and took some ibuprofen. Was tidying up one of the aisles, tilted my head to look at a spot.....and immediately hit the same part of my head on a concrete pillar. Coworkers and Manager then began discussing putting me in a bubble so I can't keep getting hurt lol. Anyway, feeling better after sleeping but like I said, little foggy brained. Nothing too serious thankfully and may have a little headache later on if anything but yeah.
I do have some time off in the upcoming weeks/month so hopefully I can finally give you all some sort of demo. Thank you all so much for your patience and support!
Kust wanted to give you all a quick little update about how things have been going. This is gonna be a bit long so I'll do the cut thing here.
A couple weeks ago, my mom asks me if we can afford car payments to go up because she wants to trade in the leased car for a new car. I tell her if it's really what she wants, we'll figure it out. So the dealership orders in a new car for her. Then three days ago, she shows me the back of her phone because she noticed an issue with it.
Not sure if the photo will post but if not, the glass over her camera on the back if somehow perfectly shattered over one of the lenses and a bit in a few other spots too. Major safety issue. She did end up getting glass feom it in her finger at one point. So on top of a new car, new phone needed. So off to the provider we go the next day to get a new phone. During that process, mom decides we're updating mine as well since neither of us have updated in like five years or so. Because it was late when we got there, they couldn't activate or transfer things same day so we get an appointment to come back the next day to do that.
So yesterday was the appointment. I let my coworkers know that hey, need to leave pretty much right when we close to go to this appointment as it's like a 30 minute drive to get there. Around 230 or so my one coworker comes back from lunch with a thing of canned air to clean his station which is right next to mine. He then decides to experiment with it by holding it upside down and spraying coins. Not a big deal. Next thing j know, he's frozen his pen.
Apparently the combined smell of chemically frozen ink and way too much canned air in a sort of small space was too much for me. So I start coughing. Trying to help someone cash their check and I keep having to stop to cough. But get that done and go to the other room to put away cash. Bear in mind, at this stage I've already told coworker he's never allowed canned air again and he's apologized several times. Can't stop coughing. Go to break room to sit for a moment and get something to drink, help with the cough. One of my other coworkers is there and just kinda staring at me like "dude, wtf" so I tell him what happened. He immediately gets worried and tells me to sit and do I want him to kick first coworker, because he will. Give mom a call to let her know what happened. During the call, start trying to clear my throat. By this point, I'm coughing, hacking, and gagging. Apparently I can give the exorcist a run for their money, according to my coworker and it sounds like I'm possessed by the devil. Nearly throw up. Mom tells me to stop outside so I can get some fresh air, which helped a bit so I go back inside to sort money and sell to vault.
Continue coughing. So I go make some tea and send possibly the most British texts (my mother is 1/2 British, 1/2 Irish) I have ever sent in my life: 'making tea. Coworker is never allowed canned air again'. Normally when I make tea, there's milk and sugar in it but since the only milk there is expired by three months, I threw out the milk and just added a TON of honey with the sugar. Not my favorite taste but not bad and it seriously helped so much. My poor coworker who'd brought the canned air kept apologizing. Later, I was telling my boss what happened only to wind up explaining that you're not supposed to shake canned air, which apparently she has done every time she uses it.
Anyway, get out of work, go to phone appointment, that takes about an hour, then off to dealership so we can get the new car. We were there for a couple hours to get paperwork and everything finished up. Luckily there wasn't too much because mom had been earlier and done a bunch of it but car wasn't ready then which is why we had to go back. Have been sporadically coughing the entire time.
Did manage to get a bit of progress on a little drabble thing for Dungeon Egg that I'm using as a way to get a better grasp of some of the characters. Honestly it deals with a bit of a spoiler for one of them so probably won't be releasing it for a while still but I will release it eventually.
I promise, I'm still working on the demo! Not entirely sure when I'll have it up hut hoping to do so within the next couple weeks or so. No promises other than you guys will know as soon as it's available!
Just a bit of a goofy little thing I've been working on that I thought I'd share. Some of the tips and tricks the guild came up with over the years before the annihilation.
If Aiden says it's a "good" idea....run.
Do not steal Reveka's ice cream. She will pull serial killer from a horror movie tactics in revenge.
If Alouette, Zykelle, and Danny have any sort of Disney marathon before a Dungeon raid, be prepared for quotes, singing, and so on at highly inappropriate times. Zykelle is the primary instigator but the other two will do so as well. Expect no regrets or remorse.
Rowe goes missing a lot. If needed, tell Divondra and wait If Divondra is unavailable, just wait. Do NOT attempt to locate Rowe yourself. Especially do not attempt to search Rowe's room or the air vents.
Aiden's brother, Kaz, is not allowed anywhere near the kitchen. Ever.
What goes on paper plate awards is not to be explained to any source of media. Ever.
Stage a coup Fridays are for Fridays. Not Mondays. Especially not as protests over the weekend being done.
Serious attempts at staging a coup are not encouraged, at any time. Crazy, outrageous ones are king and have a specific day of the week reserved for them.
Danny can make a weapon of pretty much anything. No, you do not need to ask for demonstrations. And no, poking Danny with a chop stick between the ribs is NOT an advisable way to get a demonstration. Or with anything else, any where else. Looking at you Aiden.
It's best to keep ALL sharp objects away from Tallulah when requesting healing. Blunt objects too. Any objects really. Better yet, do not request healing from Tallulah.
Do not ask about Zykelle's "tramp stamp". He will proudly show you.
Don't make Addy cry.
If Alouette is baking, prepare for war. Victor gets the goods. Or hit with a wooden spoon. Depends if she plans to share. (She usually does.)
Any consequences of one's powers are the responsibility of that particular individual. So yes, Aiden, you do have to baby sit when you use yours.
Cornered or surprised Rowe can be a bit...stab happy. Always let Divondra handle.
Yes, some of Addy's "friends" can be terrifying. No, you cannot tell that to her. Or at least, no you should not if you do not want Addy trying to convince you of their good qualities by employing whichever of her friends you fear to follow you around while Addy lists off positive traits of theirs.
Give Tallulah knitting supplies at your own peril.
If Danny is missing, immediately tell Alouette or Zykelle. Space may be all Danny needs but letting Danny stew ends poorly for everyone.
Unless brought up by a member of the guild, it's best advised not to bring up their family situation. The ones who have good family relations will let you know.
While it may be adorable to see, it's not advised to let Addy play with Divondra's drag gear. Not that Divondra has any real problems with it but Addy has actually gotten injured playing dress up with that stuff. Addy is no size thirteen after all.
So things have been kinda hectic lately and I haven't had a chance to nail down the coding like I've been wanting to. I am still working on it when I get the chance but honestly the last four days or so I don't even remember falling asleep. Because of that I'm taking a little break from the coding for now. Instead...I'm working on some little side story type things to get a better feel of some of the characters and some silly little 'rules' the guild had for survival within the guild, little joke things that were still very true. Also had a huge kind of revelation for something with one of the guild and MC that honestly won't be revealed until WAY down the line.
I might start posting some of the things I'm working on either this week or next, if there's any interest in that buy honestly I just wanted to give you all an update and thank you for your support
.....I was pulling batteries at Target....and went to stand up. Caught my foot on the underside of the shelf and hit the floor. Managed to hit my ankle, knee, and hip. All on the same side of the body -.- not even counting how I slammed my palms down so I wouldn't hit my chin or anything when I went down
So yesterday I was helping a coworker fix a thing that happened last month and while we were reading through the procedure for it, at one point it said to select a specific thing from the drop down box. I looked at where we were working and said out loud, "I don't have a drop down box, I have a type in box"
My coworker couldn't stop laughing
On a side note I'm hoping to finish up the coding this weekend and see about getting the demo up. I make no promises but if it does happen, I'll of course let you all know. Thanks so much for sticking around!
