Business Networking - Masters
Happy Friday â a quick reminder about the easy first step (and the everyday practice) of Business Networking.
The art of Business Networking â the easy first step and the day-to-day
Let's start with the easy part. When you meet someone new, follow up. I always try to connect on LinkedIn, send a text, or write an email. Something simple: Nice to meet you / connect with you! â and then a personal note. Looking forward to seeing you at the next event.
That small step matters more than people think.
But here's what I've learned over 25 years of doing this:
Every contact is unique. I have a contract with my employer to market and sell my solutionâ but my first priority is always to build my reputation and my network. My goal with every new contact is to inspire, to help, and hopefully to build a long-lasting connection. Marketing my solution comes second. So I take the time to understand what the other person cares about, and I share stories, whitepapers, and links relevant to them â not just to me. And I never make it feel like a sales pitch.
Use what LinkedIn gives you. Birthdays, for example. Now â if you're a hardcore sales person, skip this. But if you genuinely care about your network like I do, send the birthday wish. Mean it. Add a personal line: Remember when we... The key word is genuine. If it's a tactic, people feel it.
I help a lot of contacts find new jobs and make new connections. But there's something important here: always put that on the goodwill account â never the I-own-you account. If you're helping because you expect something back, either charge a fair fee or be honest with yourself about your motives. A true networker shares freely, or says no. And saying no is also part of networking. My network has been built since 1999. I don't share contacts with just anyone â only with people who can genuinely help them or add something to their professional life.
True story â With the Masters on now, Iâm reminded of working with Alex Noren
Years ago I worked as an agent alongside Alex NorĂ©n's brother (Andreas). We were at the World Tour Finals in Dubai â in the restaurant, on the range, meeting players and fellow agents. I met an agent who closed every deal with a handshake. Not a contract. A handshake. At that level, with players and major sponsors. I've never forgotten it. That's only possible when your reputation is completely bulletproof â when trust is the contract.
That's what real networking builds. Not a database of contacts. A reputation that walks into the room before you do.
Happy Friday!
Business Networking D Congress
Summarizing three days in Gothenburg and D Congress. Extremely much talk about AI. I have created "AI - Pehr". Sooo glad for the hall of fame price Arne B Andersson Elfvendahl true ecom legend! đ„ My tip as a business networker is to meet people at side events. This year I have been to two dinners and two morning runs. There I have met an iconic fashion brand and hung out with an agency that helps companies with e-commerce and in the morning I met two potential partners and two fantastic people. After standing in a booth for 8 hours both Wednesday and Thursday, the pain in my legs was enormous. Standing in a booth is difficult to distinguish yourself and catch peoples attention and you have 10-20 seconds to make an impression and tell more. I find it interesting and I am curious to develop, even though I have been doing this for about 20 years I have not found a formula that I feel 100% confident in. But as a true business networker, my method is the same, quickly add on LinkedIn and quickly write a few lines about the meeting and write a note in the calendar about follow-up. Now I will take the train to Stockholm and follow up on all my meetings. I have met a lot of wonderful people and am already looking forward to next year. In true business networking spirit, I saw Icona Pop in line for breakfast. I found the courage to talk to them and asked if they had a successful gig and where they were going next. I had a very nice chat with the two wonderful girls. Wish them all the best and they are true ambassadors for Sweden. Again, my advice is, dare and just be curious and nice. The ones you approach might want to tell you about their experience and their journey. Be yourself! Be genuine and offer knowledge/energy/joy. True story About fifteen years ago. I won a trip to Manchester and two tickets to the Manchester derby. A childhood friend and I went. We started the day with golf and then the soccer game. After the match we went to a delicious Italian restaurant. There were parts of the teams and Sven Göran Eriksson and Tord Grip. We ate lots of pasta and shared a bottle of wine. When we were about to pay, the waiter said to me, "Chris Martin doesn't have to pay, there's no bill for you." I signed a few autographs for the staff, thanked them for today, and walked out of the restaurant, waving. Glad I didn't have to sing :) Happy Friday!
Business Networking part 3
Business Networking! What is your purpose and why do you want to business network? Who are you? Are you genuine? What do you want to achieve? Today I will tell you about my own way since I will go to TECHARENA next week! What is your purpose and why do you want to business network? I want to meet new people! Hopefully inspire people to help others! Who are you? I'm Pehr 50 years. Been doing digital transformation for most of my time and ecom. Are you genuine? I think so. Especially when it comes to business networking What do you want to achieve? Inspire and help So off course I emailed Omid Ekhlasi. I wrote that I'm coming and congratulated him on bringing on Zlatan and hoping to meet him (Omid). Techarena is a three day event so I'm planning to do as much as possible. The event has two fantastic apps, one for matchmaking and one for events and schedules. I have booked a Lunch Run & Network on Tuesday and then Night sessions on both Wednesday and Thursday. I have posted a post on Linkedin. Now I'm ready to go! I will write next time about following up, but the sneak peak is that I always try to add people directly after meeting on Linkedin. And after one or two hours writing to tell them nice to meet you and also something unique about our meeting or a tip of the restaurant etc⊠more to come. The true story this time⊠I was attending a tennis-event at lunch one day. The format was winner court. There were 7 courts. On court number one was the two who had won the most matches. So after every match you move if you lose to the next court. At the end of the hour there was a final between the two best at court one. It was me against one of the worldâs best hockey players. First to eleven points. I have been playing a lot so I won 11-7. After we played we went to the showers. I was thinking that I should take the chance and tell him what a great idol he is and how great he was. I sometimes start in the wrong way. So instead of telling him how good he was with his hockeystick I told him. âHey man, you were not the best skater in the league!â The reaction was brutal! âHey Pehr, I was number three in the NHL, and number one or two in the other leagues I have playedâ. âI was like, yeah but it's notâŠâ I was numberâŠ. A guy in the shower stepped in and calmed him down. Later that week I was in the tennis club again and saw him eating all alone, so I asked him if he wanted to sit at our table. NO. Then two weeks later something strange happened. He comes to me and asks, Can you join us and play padel we miss a guy. I say of course. We play and have fun. Then two weeks later he asked my opinion about a sales pitch and if I could introduce him to some of my business contacts. Of course. We are now business contacts đ„ł #businessnetworking #fridayspecial #networking #vĂ„ga #pehrdunger #sales
Business Networking part 2
Business Networking! What is your purpose and why do you want to business network? Who are you? Are you genuine? What do you want to achieve? When you know the arena and the event and you have contacted the organizer, then itâs time to plan for the event. What do you want to achieve? Do you want to be known for being a nice guy that listen or do you want to invite to an event or do you want to share some information/knowledge that only you know, some news regarding AI or everyday use that everyone can be helped about? Your goal should be âMaybe maybe I can help in some way or recommend something. And hopefully they will do the same for me.â Also plan what you are going to wear and if you are going to bring anything? Maybe wear a pink shirt or maybe bring a flower or something that can be an icebreaker. Bring something to the organizer. You can do like I do most of the time, try to blend in and listen and then after 30-45 minutes interact. The very important stuff, remember their name. Try to make eye contact and make an impression maybe that you know some of their contacts or you have seen him/her presenting something ealier. When I started I needed to write down their name straight away so I had a note in my pocket. Now I sort them in my brain. Sounds strange but I do, I watch their faces, hear their name and then sort them. Then I quickly add them on Linkedin or Instagram. (Then follow up as the next step). Set reasonable targets. Maybe 3-4 contacts, but one or two great is better than three not so genuien. In this case prefer less. Next time I will tell you about the most important step the follow up. A longer story. I wanted to get in touch with the number one player in the world of tennis. I started by reaching out to his PR manager and also his manager. I had an idea about how he could communicate and get a closer connection with his fans. They were really interested and we booked a meeting in Monaco. Me and a colleague went there, but when I was entering the room they told me to stop and then they said. Hello, we donât do business with Robin Söderling. I was like, wtf? I'm not Robin Söderling. At the same time in Stockholm at the Royal Tennis Club a member goes up to Robin Söderling and says âPehr can we play next weekâ⊠Robin was like WTF???. The meeting in Monaco continues and we have a very good discussion and carry on the project. When me and my X are celebrating 10 years married we travel to NY to watch the US Open. I set up a meeting with the number one tennis player and we met at his hotel. We got signed posters and shirts and we continue to discuss the project. Then the player asked. âWant to join us for dinnerâ Then my X tells him. âWe have already eatenâ âŠâŠ Be Authentic - Share your story and be yourself. Business Networking
Business Networking! First things first (Cinderella), You need to decide what your purpose is and why you want to business network? Itâs not for everyone! Who are you? Are you genuine? Are you truly interested? For business or private? What do you want to achieve? Is it online or physical? When in time? How much time? I always make sure to plan. Business networking is plan, plan and plan for me. So for me it is in my DNA. For me it is âI love to meet people. I love to hear about their storyâ. Maybe maybe I can help in some way or recommend something. And hopefully they will do the same for me. My first speech about business networking was in 2009 for the magazine Shortcut. https://lnkd.in/dh5_8Wce I think the tips still work, but IÂŽm a bit more stylish today. The event Try to find out who is the host! Maybe write here or him and ask some questions and tell him/her you are looking forward to and ask about the number of participants. Where to read more. How you can contribute. When it is time. Have a clear agenda. I go with different styles all the time when I visit events so that I can try different techniques. Sometimes I focus only on listening and observing for maybe 30-45 min and then try to engage. The important stuff again. Listen and how can you help or how can you be relevant. I will try to post each Friday for a couple of weeks! I will every Friday share a secret story that happened to me worth passing forward. "I wanted to get in touch with one of the world's greatest soccer players. I didnât know at all how to proceed. I asked a lot of contacts if they knew his contact details etc. No one knew the details. So I thought maybe if I try to go when he practices or try to contact his girlfriend or his agent. I went for the agent but I didnât know if I should write in English or Swedish. So I wrote in both and I started with one or two mails⊠But I'm really stubborn so in a short period of time, it was maybe ten or twelve. After some further weeks I get a call saying. âMy good you are so stubborn! The one you are writing to doesn't understand Swedish and you have written to him ten times. We like your style so we would like a meetingâ. I donât really know the conclusion of this but I think sometimes if you are really certain that your message is strong that you should never give up until you succeed. After our first contact we have had fantastic communication throughout the years." Be Authentic - Share your story and be yourself. The next post will be How to introduce and what to wear.

Letter of recommendation
From the very beginning, Pehrâs experience and skills made a remarkable impact. Thanks to his expertise, we were able to establish traction in a short period of time, which allowed our team to concentrate on product development and other strategic priorities. Pehr is exceptional in his ability to engage with all types of decision makersâwhether itâs a CEO, an investor, or a marketing executive. His energy, persistence, and effective sales methods opened important doors for us and created opportunities that would have been difficult to achieve on our own. One of Pehrâs greatest strengths is his extensive and diverse network of contacts. Combined with his approachable style and professional demeanor, this makes him an invaluable partner for any business seeking growth. I would strongly recommend Pehr as an outstanding door opener, a trusted sales partner, and a catalyst for business success. He is a true asset to any organization looking to expand its reach and build meaningful relationships.
Scaling Your Startup with Sales
In the fast-paced world of technology startups, rapid growth is often the key to success. I have helped three companies in the last two years with scaling and accelerating their startup with Sales.
Startup X
Part time for 2 years (2023-2025) setting up targets for a new market. Setting up actionable targets for short and long term. Setting up CRM/Sales system. Finding the right target group. Executing on the plan.Â
The result was that in a short period of time signing the major agreements in the market. With massive sales. Also helping introduce the startup to future investors.
Quote from the CEO
"Pehr worked with us for more than 2 years and I can warmly recommend him. Getting the "first foot in" is essential in Sales, in order to get the customers to listen to your value proposition and eventually close an agreement. Pehr is great at all this, he is also very passionate and committed to Sales, and he works hard to meet the Sales Objectives."
Startup XY
Part time for 6 months in 2025, the startup was struggling with their partner/B2B agreements. Setting up actionable targets for short and long term, focusing on one target group to start with to have short time wins. Setting up CRM/Sales system. Finding the right target group. Executing on the plan.Â
The result was a success! That in a short period of time find the right stakeholders, setting up meetings, follow up, send quotes and negotiate. To make it possible with so short period of time and with a target group that is hard to get in touch with was fantastic. Also helping introduce the startup to future investors.

Startup XYZ
Part time for 6 months in 2024, a new product on a new market to a very small taget group. A fantastic service/solution. Setting up actionable targets for short and long term. Setting up CRM/Sales system. Finding the right target group. Explaining to board members and CEO:s about this new service/solution. Executing on the plan means doing all the hard work by phone, email, sms to book meetings, presentations, send follow up, send quotes, send agreements, negotiate and sign. The result was, in a short period of time, signing the major contracts in the market to have a quick start.Â

Good to Great Tennis Academy.

â Folk lyssnar aldrig pĂ„ vad man sĂ€ger nĂ€r man hĂ€lsar pĂ„ dem.

Ulfslunch
ulfslunch Nr 1080. Pehr Dunger loves to sell! And thatâs what heâs being doing his whole life, back in the days he started out as kind of Jan Hugo Stenbecks right hand. Today heâs running a lot of different projects and heâs sharing his top three insights for long term succeeding in business: keep your mouth shut and instead open your ears, never ever be lazy and finally: find the perfect spot to network. For Pehr that spot is on the tenniscourt and Iâm looking forward to our appointment to hit some balls! What's your best idea? "Listen more than you talk." Bring your ideas to lunch! #ulfslunch #fotografiskastockholm
