i ship ronance as much as the next person, but does anyone else wanna see a strong female friendship between a straight and a lesbian girl?

Here me out. I haven’t seen much in media, and as someone who has multiple straight friends, it would be so meaningful to me to see this relationship platonically, especially because a lot of homophobia has been directed to lesbians, and a lot of the time in media they are shown to be in love with their straight bff, which is overused so much. It would mean the world to me to see a friendship like this in the media.

society’s (homophobic) expectation of a lesbian is that they all have massive crushes on their female friends, and this makes it seem that they can’t have strong platonic female connections. It can be harmful to continually push the “in love with their bff trope”.

I’m not saying that ronance would be awful if it became canon, but it would be absolutely lovely to see a popular show like stranger things prove that lesbians can have female friendships, despite what toxic media has stated.

but then again, seeing Nancy and robin as girlfriends would also be amazing 😅
