“When you love you wish to do things for. You wish to sacrifice for. You wish to serve.”
@imbicilite for liking this post!
“Save your compliments, they mean nothing to me - I am the Beast, do you understand? I am no ‘sir’.” There was almost a sneer on his face, thin, animal lips curled as he turned from the man, a tufted tail peeking out from the sweeping cape at the creature’s back.
“i’m strange and offputting.” ( from arnold over on tiimescout 🐸 )
Just a shadow of a smile passed over the Beast’s face. Such words weren’t so foreign to him, although they were usually in his own mind, repeated as fact in his more melancholy moments.
“What is it that makes you any more ... off-putting than the rest of them?” In his time alone, the Beast could view men as an ‘other’. He didn’t need to compare himself to them, because there was no longer anything to compare. That this person should have anything more about him that would make him at odds with everyone else - well, it seemed both ridiculous and pitiable.

trying to break back into writing and fandom stuff, so if you’d be interested in writing with a somewhat disney-inspired (but also a few other iterations) Beast of Beauty and the Beast, go ahead and give this a like or a reblog, and i’ll write you up a quick little starter!
tiimescout·:
the look was lost on the florist’s son —- arnold had never been all that adept at reading facial expressions. he didn’t exactly understand the turmoil that louis went through. ❝ why wouldn’t they welcome you? ❞ it didn’t dawn on him that the other villagers would be terrified. to him, louis was nice —- there wasn’t cause for fear.
❝ —-wait! how do you know you’re not welcome if you’ve never even been to the village? surely they can’t hate you if they’ve never met you before! ❞
The Beast wasn’t a violent creature (nor had he been a particularly violent man, before the curse) by nature, although his appearance belied that fact. That the young man so easily seemed to overlook the clear dilemma of his beastly form almost frustrated the Beast, so used to being forced to acknowledge it every time he took a breath or stalked down the long halls.
A hiss of breath escaped him at the question, and then again as it was repeated, as though he hadn’t heard it the first time. “I can scarcely imagine their reaction to be anything but duly horrified when a monster descends among them. Wolves are enough of a threat to them, but what of a creature that can kill one with its two paws?”

❝ have you ever thought of simply leaving your castle? it must get awfully lonely up here, unable to meet new people! ❞ he adored meeting new people, even if new people weren’t exactly delighted to meet him. ❝ the village isn’t all that far away! ❞
// for @duprince for being too sweet!
The long look the Beast gave him might’ve been enough for some, some mix of exasperation and resignation. Leaving the castle had, in fact, been at the forefront of his mind for years. Unfortunately, there was nowhere for him to go. After all, the castle itself wasn’t what he wanted to escape from. “And go where? Do you truly think a village would welcome something that looks like me?” A rather frustrated, if not outright disgusted gesture toward himself. “I have a revelation that may not have occurred to you, Monsieur. I am not welcome.”
@tiimescout this is a call out. You're cute as heck. That is all.

Heading home in a few mniutes, but go ahead and like this and I’ll try and throw up a little one-sentence starter for you. Alternatively, go ahead and IM me and I’d be happy to plot something out! (Or, if you’re interested in chatting on Discord, feel free to hit me up for that too!)
@bellethebravebookworm continued from here!
The Beast had been careful to spare Belle his presence. He hadn't missed her shock at his appearance (and who could blame her?), and while his ire had faded at the crime her father had committed, the arrangement was not something he could simply back out of. He could tell her nothing of the enchantment, and likewise, he couldn't release her. Of course, it occurred to him, several times, that perhaps Belle was the one to cure him of his curse, but the thoughts were brief, and brought on by desperation rather than his waning reason.
She was still smiling as she spoke. Of course, he noticed that, just like he noticed the way her eyes met his, and the way she hadn't recoiled when he looked at her. He had had no real visitors in his time, but his own revulsion at his form spoke volumes about what a young woman must think of it.
"Hope is a strong word." He hoped for company as one might hope for salvation - a far-away desire that had no bearing on one's daily activities. "It is entirely possible our interests do not align in a way that would allow us to be... good company." Although Belle had been gracious, albeit stubborn.
He blinked slowly, to prevent himself looking over at Belle again, but found himself angling in her direction just the same. So much for his self-control.
"I am sure you could find some springs somewhere in the castle if you find the table lacking." It was a joke, albeit a weak, surprisingly tentative one. "If you would have me again, I would join you again," he confessed, although soup was hardly what he needed in order to remain properly fed. A monster did not eat as a man, after all.
A slight movement of the cloak at his back, and large, though slender paws carried him past Belle finally, although it was only to the hearth, where a fire roared, as it did in nearly every room that allowed it. "I have been the only resident here for some time. There is not a 'before' to speak of." Not entirely true, but not entirely false, either. Certainly, there was little more he could reveal on the matter.
“ I didn’t think you’d agree to eat with me- surprisingly- I had a nice time.” (Starter if that’s okay,bellethebravrbookworm)
@bellethebravebookworm
A slightly dry smile pulled at the creature’s lips at the admission, and he looked to Belle briefly as if to gauge how truthful she was being. After all, enjoying dinner with a Beast that could hardly hold a spoon anymore seemed many things, but nice hadn’t crossed his mind. Still, nothing made her look as though she was lying - and why would she need to? He’d afforded her nothing but privacy and the luxury that the castle provided besides his own, brief company.
“I was... pleased that you made the offer. I have not had company for dinner in some time.” Years, of course, at least a decade. But then, he hadn’t had company for anything in just as long.
“Have you been enjoying the castle?” Perhaps adjusting would’ve been a more appropriate word. A small worry that the girl had been left with nothing to do niggled at him, unpleasantly, although he reminded himself that there were gardens to explore and books to be enjoyed, even if there was no ability to go beyond the grounds.
"I sometimes think that God, in creating man, somewhat overestimated his ability."
❝ Don't address me as "sir." I'm called the Beast! I don't like compliments. Don't try to understand. ❞
