Why the book is simple.

I Designed the book to be a symbol of the concept, it was to show the meaning of why the opinions connect together, the use of the connected word represents how each of the people i asked to write what they saw was different but they are the same because people may be different but they share memory of figures or objects that are repeated in society as history which is passed on to each person differently this is why each person is not named and shown separately on the page this is to show how each person is different but share the same mind in most cases due to the fact that most people see the same thing as others they just show it differently or they see a deeper part of themselves or others when they see the images.  ‘History repeats itself’ - Thucydides, this quote represents how each set of events in history is repeated either through people following a figure or a reproduction is released to shine a new light on a old subject.

Evaluation of Air Beneath the sky

The idea behind my proposal was to create a small book that show images in the clouds and the opinions of what a select group of people see in the clouds and how colours can change how people see the Images in the pictures. The project developed in to a open ended project which will have segments of each time a new set of people look at different images and what they see when the look at these and how this displays the psychology of the person.

When I researched my project I was the first person to go into the idea of looking into the clouds and preserving images and what people saw in them so in the research side of my project I documented pictures of cool cloud forms from over the timelines and I researched cloud forms and what there’s names are. I researched an artist who showed natural forms in geometric sculptures I found this interesting and relevant to my project because it showed how nature could still be beautiful even when it is show in a different light. I used skills that I had learned while on my photography course to complete my project the new method I used was to set up a questionnaire for people to answer and this was used to create the opinions for my work.

Using a cannon camera and natural lighting and pictures to create my work, the method was to collect images in the best weather so that the images where clear and the use of the questionnaire to generate my opinions worked well because it generated an individual result’s. My favourite part of my project was taking the photos and working out what I saw in the clouds this is because it was challenging to find the correct images in the sky. The problem that I faced in the project was that I had to have clear weather to get the best clouds and due to the wind I had to take the photos fast to make sure the image stayed the same from when I looked it.

In order to communicate that opinions of others can influence what people see this is why I restricted people from talking to each other during and before they do the test. The idea of the project is about clouds but the main factor of the project are to show how people display what they really see when they see the images rather than recycled opinions of others.

I planned to layout parts of my project in weekly segments and the use of the weekend to take photos this was to enable me to concentrate on the editing and written work during the week and the creative side during the weekend. I stuck to my plan most of the time but sometimes it changed due to weather.

I would say the project as a whole worked well and all of the parts of project stuck together perfectly the only thing that didn’t go to well was chasing people up to do the questionnaire. I am pleased with the photos I took because they show interesting images and show the best of the weather that is around my house.

 The project is open ended so I will keep it going after the exhibition ends as a side project for me and other to put work into over time this allows me to create a ever developing project that can change as my skills increase.My target to complete next time I do a project like this would be to more pictures.

 This book is a collective of opinions that also show the psychology of the selected people who took part in this test of what people see when they look at the sky and how colours can change what people see. All you see is up to how your mind perceives random objects and what this shows about the person you are.

Progression after Course

My plan is to move into an apprenticeship with the company Kuju, this will hopefully be my job for a long time due to the company being involved with my passion of gaming. I received this Job after a eventful interview with the Ceo of the company who expects great things from me. I will be working in the game testing and scouting sector of the company. The other half of my plan for the future is to go into payed commissions for graphic design and to stream games with friends.

Arran Gregory is a geometric sculpture and experimental depictions of the natural world. His artworks are a curious visual insight into Man’s relationship to nature and the emotions it provokes within us as humans. i found the work of arran inspiring for my project because he looks at abstract sculpture in nature and use geometric shapes and glass to produce really cool sculpture of animals. my project relates to the idea of abstract are in natural forms this one of the reasons i compare my work to arran’s sculptures through the themes they share.

Arron Gregory inspires me to produce work that show a different side to what you usually see in object and entities. The way i would change my project to fit the way that Arron works would be to produce Clouds using materials this would allow me to produce large scale sculptures that would show my understanding of how the form of the cloud is represented.

Template for Book cover

This is the template for my book cover this will be the pattern which i will use for the layout for my cover and i have decided on the layout of the inside pages. for the inside pages i will use photos and on the opposite side of each photo i place the opinions i have collect about what the image is and what they see.

Artist statement

An artist's statement is an artist's written description of their work. The brief verbal representation is for, and in support of, your own work to give the viewer understanding. As such it aims to inform, connect with an art concept, and present the basis idea of your work; it is therefore didactic, descriptive, or reflective in nature.

I will use my title and a quote to show my work and a small artist statement to put the concept for my project across to the audience.

This is part of my experimentation with my photos i have inverted the images to add a different feel to the photos i will show these to the same people as the originals and ask if they see anything different when in inverted colours. This along with the use of cotton ball clouds will be the experimentation i will do in my project and i will collect opinions on all. The way i inverted the images was flip the colour setting to the opposite angle in Lightroom.

illustrator Perspective tool

This tool in illustrator is useful for creating package designs and can be used to create book covers i have explored the use of this tool in the way i can use it for my project. I have learned how to use images and text and how to draw on the perspective lines allowing me to create a book cover layout on the file. I will use the tool to create a book cover template where i can place my concept art for the book cover.

Idea for summer display

I will be producing the book i will place on a podium with the cotton clouds i will make. along side the book i will leave a piece of paper where people can write what they see in the clouds compared to everyone else. i plan to mount some photos not used in the book to wall behind to show what wasn’t used but still cared about. other ideas about what i could do would be to time-lapse one section of the sky and let it record a day cycle of clouds because i speed it up to show how fast clouds change to find air resistance.

The first image shows Walter White surrounded by his product of meth. this work is interesting because it shows how the production of meth is eating away at him converting him into part of the cycle this is shown by how the colour of the meth is covering his skin and clothes. Jared K Nickerson created this work to demonstrate what happen in the tv show Breaking bad’s main character as he is eaten up by what he wanted to create to make a better future for his family.This work is created using illustrator this is due the nature of jared being a graphic designer but the original idea would have been drawn before being converted into a digital image. I find Jared’s work inspiring and i like the art style that is used to create most of his work. The morals of the art is very close to how work eats up the worker consuming them into part of the workplace.

The second image is by Jared K Nickerson and show a controversial subject in the cartoon style of his work the work shows a broken light bulb which is commonly show when someone has an idea this show a broken lightbulb which means that the idea is broken/bad. The meaning behind this work is to show that not all ideas are meant to be used and not all idea are good but this shows a cartoony way to say it. I find this a nice piece of work and i would use it as a post card to send to people i find have bad ideas most of the time.

I will experiment creating cloud forms with cotton balls and programmes to produce my own made cloud forms i will use this as experimenting with mediums to produce the subjects outcome. the production of the work will be placed on this website for analysis. I will work on creating cloud forms in software and 3D to create my own clouds and show what i want to show in my work. This will help bring other mediums into play rather than just photography.i have taken some photos and i will modify some and take some more ready for next weeks.

Drypoint; is printing using a plate with an etched image in it which is used to print the drawing with a press. The image is transferred through the use of ink being pressed from the space in the etched lines on the paper the way you transfer the ink is with a etching press which presses the ink onto a piece of dampened paper to produce a print. The pressure has to be correct or the pressure will flatten the burrs and ruin the image.

This work has given me idea of how i could present some of the photos by Placing them into black and white and only showing the outlines of the images. this would a good way to show detail in the work.

FMP Presentation feedback

The slide showing how i came up with the idea had good feedback because it was touching and showing emotional connections. I need to look at more artists to get a better understanding of what others find in the work of abstract work. my use of art techniques need to be expanded.I need to use pictures in the slides rather than backgrounds. I had an interesting idea and concept for the work.
