Dusseau Maker's Altar
Another ingredient about to be incorporated into some unique Dusseau adornment. These opalescent, antique glass beads are referred to as "Moon Beads". They are a rare and valuable type of African Trade Bead with a little mystery surrounding their history. Some believe these beads were made in Germany or Bohemia before being traded into Africa in the 1800's, while other evidence suggests they were made in Murano, Venice in the late 1600's.
Reflected light and shadow at the Dusseau booth
This collection of antique beads will soon become ingredients in some one-of-a-kind Dusseau adornment. Often referred to as "Cheyenne Pinks" or "Dusty Pinks" these beads were made in Venice during the early 1900's and traded into Africa and around the world.

Look who got to go shopping in Africa! Well, not exactly... but African Village in Tucson, AZ has got to be about as close as you can get!

It was such an honor to create a set of jewelry for my dear friend on her special day.
By combining a variety of different materials (including antique beads, pieces from a vintage family heirloom and some gorgeous locally handcarved blue tourmaline) I was able to incorporate something old, new, borrowed, and blue.
What a privilege to adorn such a beautiful bride!
