Review of Our final Surrealism shoot; - Meg
In my opinion i think our final photograph did link to our given topic surrealism. We all worked well together, coming up with ideas as a group, and going off into pairs to research different parts. We came all together to come up with our final idea for our shoot eg; the headless person eating there own head. I put an example up on our blog just to show what surrealism is, and then we all came together in class and decided it was a good and different idea, so therefore we chose to do it using a few different things eg; clothes, background, lighting etc.
We used bits of equipment in the studio and techniques to create a successful shot. We used a tripod, one tungsten light, a black backdrop, tables and we all decided to get a makeup artist from hair and beauty to make the shot even better and interesting. We asked the makeup artist to create a cut on tarleighas neck to make it look even more like shes been decapitated.
I think we all worked well as a group, especially in the researching parts, as we all assigned roles to eachother to research each certain bit eg; me and Beth made a mindmap to build ideas and what we could use etc, Jack did our concept and thought about our lighting, Em did sketches and Tarleigha researched artists like it. We did struggle a bit once we were in the studio about the setting up, and where each light was going, however we finally got it sorted with the help of Paul about how the table will look. With that we could carry on with lighting and the position of other items.
On the downside we could of come up with a completely new idea without taking ideas from another shot. However, i did like how our shot came out even know it wasn't completely our ideas, so in future instead of taking someone elses idea, i think we could come with one completely from scratch to create a more challenging shot.
Pros:
1. We took test images like asked, as we set up and different lighting shots.
2. I think our overall image was very successful.
3. We finally achieved the lighting we wanted.
4. We stuck more than half with our first plan.
5. We succeed with our scenario.
Cons:
1. We could of worked faster whilst setting up, as it took most of our time
because we didnt know where we were putting things.
2. We could of done more in our group eg; come up with more than just one idea.
3. Plan more on where each thing is going in the studio eg; the lighting,
because we all didnt know what was going where.
4. Stick with our final plan fully, as we didnt use the biblical reference eg;
devil horns.
