"I would like some bad acting and wrong thinking." -Dave Hickey Frivolity & Unction The group exhibition "Recto and Verso", featuring the works of Charlie Crowell, Garrett Gould, Duy Hoang, Gordon Holden, Grace Jackson, Tyler Murphy, Alicia Riccio, and Sena Wataya. This assembled group of artists were united under the former art critic Dave Hickeys seminal essay Frivolity & Unction. While each artist has a distinct approach to their practice, these works explore and challenge established conceptions of the everyday—perceptions of space, the humanity of object-hood, the unearthing and debunking of myths and ultimately the act of viewing. Together these practices result in a combination of objects and imagery that exist on the verge of allegory. The exhibition calls for a reorientation of perspective and a reconsideration of an assumed truth.
