The huntress wondered, if the sudden stop and hurt was because of her being unattentive, fingers brushed into long l ocks to push them aside from her face, head tilted in worry that whatever seemed a small thud would have felt much more grave for the girl. – It was my fault truly. Are you entirely sure you are alright?
"No, no, it's nothing of your fault. I'm... I'm alright. I'm really not supposed to be here, anyhow." She managed a smile, turning to stare up at the great city of Enoch, thousands of years forged by the infamous Cain, begot of Adam. Surrounded by a low wall, Yonah was unsure if she should try to enter again -- it had been so long since she had seen her former home... she turned back to the woman, asking, "But who are you? Surely you aren't thinking of entering this city."
“I woke up from a curious dream.”

"Did you, now?"
A small smile at the other girl. Small, but there.
"I’d like to hear more about it.”
"I suppose. Though the flames did almost engulf me more times than I care to mention or remember." The princess shook her head, as if attempting to shake off the memories of that terrifying, albeit curious, dream of hers. "Oh. I have a garden of sorts. Well, I grow flowers if that happens to count."
"Then, I assume, it became less of a curious dream and more of a nightmare," Yonah added with a sad shrug, another grin following. "Oh yes! Flowers count! I haven’t seen a real flower in ages, though."

❄ He smiled slightly. So he watched her expression, trying to figure out what did she think about it all, suspecting she wouldn’t say yes to his proposal — after all, at these times humans believed in things with higher power, they thought a God of sorts wished them to do this and that; however, October now thought this wasn’t the case. He didn’t know for sure, he just felt like something was wrong with this entire thing. At her final reaction, that she wanted to try, he nodded and already started to create a plan in his head — only to be stopped by her following words. Noah’s youngest son would be on the ark and the two of them definitely couldn’t get on that thing. They wouldn’t let them, because they believed she’d need to die. Even she knew! Then why did she ask him this? October looked in her eyes, knowing how it sounded to her, but he had no choice. "See him? Yes, you’ll see him if we survive", he said quietly, "but he mustn’t know you’re alive. I know how this sounds but you said yourself you can never be together… if he or his family finds out you’re alive after the flood, they’d try and kill you for sure." And that, I wouldn’t let happen, he thought to himself. Not for even a God they so believe in. “It is more likely we would drift away from their ark anyways and might end up in a competely new place. It might take years for us to meet them again. But it’s our only choice.” ❄
She immediately sprung on the defensive once he pitched the horrendous idea that her family -- that Japheth -- would try to kill her if she survived! Her brow furrowed, and she took a shaky step back to place distance between her and the still-stranger. Despite all the odds against her, Noah and his family loved her -- they would never want to see her die, but the commands of their Lord stood above even familial connections. She understood that. But. If she survived, and she met with her family again, Japheth would probably weep at her feet, so happy to see his Yonah alive -- he would never --
"Japheth would never kill me," she whispered, looking down at her feet with her arms wrapped around her waist. "None of them would. They are my family, the only people I have left who would call me their own. If -- when -- I survive, you have to promise me I'll see them again. No matter what you may think they'll do -- they won't. I believe it." A spark of rebellion in her eyes, she looked at him again with a slight scrunch of her nose. "Swear this promise to me, or I'll just stay and perish. I'd rather die a thousand deaths by fire and flood and stones than spend a day knowing I'd never see Japhie again!" Her voice rose slightly, tears forming at the edge of her eyes. She knew October meant well -- but she couldn't just expect her to run away from all she ever knew just at the chance of survival. She had to be sure, she just had to.
The thunder rumbled again in the distance and Yonah blanched, though still standing resolute against October's words. "I trust in Adonai. And I trust in my family. I'm... not trying to be harsh--" A pause, as she wiped away her tears, "-- but you must understand. I am willing to sacrifice for my survival, but not as much as you are putting before me. Years without Japhie... I can't fathom it..."

❝That is what I’ve been taught as well,❞ Rapunzel sighed. Then she smiled mischievously. ❝But…it’s natural for rebellion isn’t it?❞
A shrug from the servant girl. "I... I don't know. Rebellion... can have dire consequences."
“I woke up from a curious dream.”

"Did you, now?"
A small smile at the other girl. Small, but there.
"I’d like to hear more about it.”
"I could not escape. The flames covered the walls, trapping me there. I managed to wake up but that was my own escape." Aurora replied, looking down for a moment. "What sort of work?"
"At least you didn't burn alive. That's what matters." She let out a breath she didn't know she'd been holding. "I'm a servant -- I tend to the animals, wash dishes, set the table -- and check the garden to see if Adonai has blessed our family with anything to grow today," she added with a small chuckle. "it's hard to grow anything in the wilderness of the desert."
“I… guess? I mean, you can’t go down without a fight, right? What’s the point in just… giving up?” Coming from the girl who almost, only almost, got chewed up from a wolf. But whatever was going on with the other girl, that clearly wasn’t any of her business. “Oh, no, I’m not lost. I just like walking through the woods, that’s all.” Although, admittedly, it was a bit darker than she liked.
"It's not giving up... Just being obedient. Adonai's wrath can be devastating. It's the reason for the curse of Cain, actually, but I already told you that. I don't wish to invoke such mighty power by trying to escape the flood."
Dying still scared Yonah, a little. But she wasn't about to be daunted, even by death. She'd make the most of what she had.
"...You like walking through dark, scary woods? I prefer deserts myself. Like my home. At least you can always see what's coming around the corner."

"As curious as the dream was, it is not one I care to remember. I slept for longer than I should have." Aurora answered, though the other female’s smile made her feel like she had to be a little more open. “A room with no doors nor windows. And it was burning.”
"That's horrible..." Yonah's face fell a little, though she knew it was only a dream being relayed to her. "Did you escape? Maybe break through the wall with a rock? And don't feel bad -- I oversleep all the time. Japheth teases me when I do, because I always have work to get done."

The young girl noticed another young girl laying next to the prison. She went over and poked her. “Hey.”
"Hi..." Yonah mused, looking up at Bonnie with a sniff. "You shouldn't be out here."
———- wait, can you reblog if you don’t mind random starters appearing in your tag whether it’s fluffy, angsty, etc. and if you actually reply to them when they do? just wanna see how many people do tbh.
Heather’s blonde curls whips across her neck and she gives the girl her icon death stare, jutting her lower lip out. Clearly, the rest of the Heathers had yet to show up and she had to deal with this sad excuse of a girl. Ever the perks of being popular she supposes. Or being in the wrong place at the right time. Great.
❝ …Oh. Walk down the hall, turn to your left and take the stairs. ❞
"-- I-I'm sorry."
Yonah blurts a whispered reply, taking a step back at the older girl's abrupt earlier words. Only a week into her junior year, and she was still feeling so out of place. Maybe she should have just consulted her map at this point.
"Sorry. If I bothered you. I was just... asking. But thank you. Um..." She turns from her, gazing down the hallway, an embarrassed blush on her face. Gosh, Yonah, stop being so shy. Talk to people. It's the only way you'll make friends. "Um... Sorry again..." With a turn back to the blonde, "What's your name? I'm Yonah."

Sky a wondruous blue, one that was eerie within the walls of the city, mostly clouded or plagued by rain, the colour threw a different light onto anyone walking the streets. A trait to enjoy while it lasted, the thought it seemed entered many a mind. The opportunity was taken by the silverette as well, brushing all that was unnecessary to steal a leisurely afternoon. Attention strayed astray, she did not notice the young woman afront. – My apologies. I did not see you there. Are you alright?
" --Me?"
Yonah whirled around, catching sight of the woman, brushing half-sprung tears from her eyes, and through the remaining blur she caught sight of her lovely silver hair. It made her smile a little, a little more cheer in her downtrodden face. But she knew her expression belied what she was to say next --
"Yes, yes... I'm quite alright... Just... I've got a lot to think about right now..."
Little Red wasn’t exactly sure if she regretted asking questions in the first place, because the last thing she expected was a lecture. But nevertheless, it was still pretty interesting to hear. As confusing as it was. “… you lost me on most of that. But basically, there are bad guys of your kind that make you look bad and then this boat doesn’t have enough space for you to survive? That’s depressing.”
"--Yes, well... I've accepted my fate. You can't change what you can't change, right?"
And she dropped the subject then -- how Yonah hated to talk about it. And Red probably didn't care to know her past. But Yonah rambled.
Like always.
With a small smile, she started skipping down the path again.
"Anyways, Red... What are you doing out here? It's so dark... are you quite lost, too?"

❄ Don’t worry? Don’t worry?! Did she even understand what she was talking about? He let out a low growl and found it ironic that even though he was so, so old, they could send him back here. Just here. Perhaps something went wrong. Did it? Her words upset him even more. His hand on her arm was as cold as ice, but he couldn’t concentrate on that. What did she mean? If you’re not of Cain’s lineage, like myself, you are pure enough to be saved. His eyes darkened. Whatever power decided to take the matters into its own hands, pissed him off right in that moment. Who were they to decide she had to die? This innocent, kind, little being… who decided she must die in the flood? "If you believe I’m pure enough to be saved then you must be saved as well", he said then, quietly. "I don’t have the mark. I don’t belong here. I shouldn’t be here. But it’s alright now. Perhaps I was sent here for a reason."
He had to face all of his failures again as he took in her form. His siblings managed to make him watch innocents die around him again, thinking he wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. They were wrong. He won’t allow that. Not anymore. He took her other hand which held her locks and brought it down gently. "We still can survive. I have a plan." ❄
"A plan...?" Her eyes lit up at the thought. Yonah had never been afraid to die -- ever since Yahweh annouced the arrival of the flood, she had accepted it, in truth -- but a plan, to survive? That sounded promising. She wanted to survive, deep down inside. Turning away a little, she felt the weight of the decision on her chest. She couldn't, wouldn't, go against Yahweh's will. He would be so, so angry, and if His anger could cause the curse of an entire race? Yonah was afraid of what He would do if one little Canaanite girl escaped the flood.
But survival. Her mind fought to just say yes to October. If she survived, would she be reunited with Japheth again, after the deluge? Would he be surprised at her survival, and take her into his arms, and ask her his hand in marriage, like she had so long awaited? Or would she be struck down, much like her ancestor Cain, for disobedience?
She bit her lip, hard enough that she tasted salt in her mouth. "I-I..." This was wrong, wrong, wrong. She couldn't say yes. If she did, if she did... "I... can't... survive... But..." Oh, Father, for all you have given me, I ask you to forgive the words I am about to say... "...I would like to try." A small smile rose onto her face, even as she said the words.
"But you have to promise me something. Japheth. Noah's youngest son... we love each other, though he is begot of Seth, and we can never be together... Can you promise me that I'll see him again? If I survive?"
