My Thoughts on the Latest Season of Interview with the Vampire LESTAT
To be honest, I did like this latest season, although the second season remains my favorite so far. I think almost every character had great development, except for one. I loved that we got to learn more about Lestat and his past. Gabriella, his mother, rubbed me the wrong way, but I admit she was a great addition to the season and the acting was brilliant. On the other hand, I really enjoyed Louis's dynamic with Regina. The return of Claudia’s ghost, missing Madeleine, broke my heart; I wish they could do something in the plot so they can be together in the afterlife.Armand returned as well, and even though he barely had any screen time this season, he looked beautiful every time he appeared. He is definitely my favorite character in the series. His "apology" to Louis in the final episode was the absolute best; it was worth waiting until the finale just to see him in all his glory. However, there was one character who, despite looking promising in the first few episodes, took a massive step backward in my opinion: Daniel. I had high hopes for him and ended up disappointed. I don't know exactly what it was—whether it was his way of interviewing Lestat, the way he spoke this season, how he acted, how he dressed, his comments, or a mix of everything. Eric Bogosian is one of the show's favorites and has a lot of fans (including myself), but his character development fell short this time; while it was acceptable, I still left feeling let down.I truly hope that next season Daniel goes back to the essence of the first two seasons and they bring back some of his "70s boy" attitude. What I saw this season looks nothing like the fascinating character we first met. With that attitude, I just don't see him becoming the kind of companion Armand needs—a love to hold him up—nor do I see them forming the iconic Devil's Minion duo.And thinking that I have to wait more than two years (if we're lucky) to find out what happens next is incredibly frustrating.
