another thing to add is that the bangle armand is wearing is a copper ayurvedic bracelet which the costume designer (a white english woman) said they gave to armand as a joke because it's supposed to bring balance and he's an unbalanced character. so the only time armand gets to be connected to anything indian/south asian is when it's about his parents selling him into slavery, a comment from lestat publicly humiliating him, or when it's mocking an ancient indian therapy

thinking about louis and armand again. they lived 77 years together. my grandparents are celebrating 53 this year and they are practically telepathic. so coordinated, never separated. it makes me nauseous to think about. "drawing numbers on each other's backs and pretending to guess them wrong." yeah, because no matter how much pain and resentment there is between two people, spend enough time together and you'll grow attached regardless. small gestures come to mean so much. the pressure on a shoulder to calm the other down, finishing each other's sentences. "keep selling it." no one wants to buy it because it's hard won knowledge that only reveals itself through time and patience. such an impossibly fragile a thing to persist.

and now seeing how lost they are, you can imagine the type of rafter they were for each other. people like to focus on the negative aspects of their relationship, but sail 77 years through the madness and the beauty and you'll grow fond of the sea all the same. this has to count for something, even for a vampire?

also still on my learning project where I challenge myself to only use three medium to large textured brushes and not go below a certain brush size to get better at seeing the shapes instead of relying on details and clean lines so much. and I also have a time limit. it’s very fun I’m learning a lot about light and shadows I recommend it if you’re like me and are a perfectionist who spends three years on every detail
