Been going down the iwtv rabbit hole lately, so here's a silly lil thing I drew after one of the interviews with the cast during SDCC

DM in TVL felt like if, in the pilot of IWTV, instead of the entire beautiful episode we got one scene of Louis telling Grace that his business rivals were sabotaging him, but that he’d met this weird white guy with superpowers who was lowkey scary but also hot and was helping him with them. We don’t see any of this, we just hear about it.

Then immediately after that scene, it cuts to the church scene, and Lestat is giving Louis the “be my companion” speech. He’s covered in blood, there are two dead guys on the floor, but we have no idea what happened. We didn’t see Paul’s death, Louis’ confession, or him going insane thinking about Lestat. And then the scene ends without us even seeing Louis embrace Lestat and kiss him, accepting his proposal.

Then, we cut to Louis and Lestat killing the tenor together. Louis is suddenly a vampire, and he and Lestat are suddenly murderous husbands, and we barely have any clue how they got from point A to point B.

And then the season ends, leaving us to wait until the next season to actually see what happened in between all those moments, and we’re not even sure it’s going to be addressed at all.

The issues of race and sexuality, I don't personally believe are an extra layer, I think they are the show. Really, really difficult to come across shows that do that as effectively as this one.
