Frenemies?

Everyone talks about how betrayed Thor felt when Loki turned against him, but can we take a moment to discuss Fandral? The prevailing feeling in the fandom seems to be that the Warriors Three (and Sif) grudgingly accepted Loki’s presence because of Thor, and Loki felt the same towards them, but I’m not so sure that’s the case…at least with Fandral.

Loki has a moment of badassery when Fandral is in danger. He looks pretty pissed. Is it because no one was supposed to get hurt in his scheme or because it was someone he cared about?

“Well, first off, with superhero charaters being predominantly white I love to take on certain non-black characters and show that as a black cosplayer I can match, or even surpass, said superhero look. I had been planning to cosplay Aquaman ever since I saw the first trailer. I loved the hairstyle that they chose for him and with my hair being approximately the same length in locs, it was the perfect opportunity for me to play with the character a little. I ordered my suit custom fitted from @procosplay_official.

The bodysuit is made out of the gold top with scale-style sewn designs. The bottom is made out of a thick lycra fabric similar to yoga pants with the hexagon pattern on it to give it the 3D effect. The boots and gloves made out of foam, then painted and covered in gloss to make it look like the ones in the movie. The side and back gold scale pieces are made out of a thin plastic and I clipped it onto my bodysuit to make sure it stayed in place. The gold belt is made out of the same material and it goes over the armor skirt velcroed in the back. Last but not least, I used blonde temporary spray for the ombre look of my hair and gold contact lenses to top off the look from @colouredcontacts. The Trident was also ordered from @procosplay_official 🔱

I’ve been dissatisfied with a past cosplay before. I was a bit dissatisfied with my first ever Killmonger cosplay. I didn’t calculate the time it would require to make and place all the little scars on my body. Because of that, I ended up with an unfinished result. I only had my chest covered with scars when I wanted to cover my chest, arms and back. So I ended up wearing his open jacket the entire time. I’m currently working on creating a layout for the scars with liquid latex that I can use to place multiple scars and attach them to my body rather than one by one. That way it will reduce the prep time.

I’ve never considered cosplaying professionally. I get the most joy being a part of non-profit and charity events. My reward is seeing kids light up when they see their favorite superhero. If I became a pro, I wouldn’t expect to earn much. I am currently a men’s pro physique competitor and I haven’t broken even yet. If Cosplay is about making money for you, then you will be sorely disappointed”.
