he’s still confused, alarmed, blue eyes going from one person to another. sadly, georgina and enzo have no clue what’s going on and nola? she chooses to follow spencer’s lead and not say a damn thing. when a hand is waved in front of his face, he finally decides to go with the peer pressure, interlacing their fingers. shooting enzo and georgina a final look, he shrugs his shoulders, mouthing a quick: “i’m so sorry?” before being pulled out of there. “what’s going on?” clearly, he’s not a big fan of the no-talking rule. “where are we going? spencer, you’re not gonna drive, are you? i saw you chug those beers. y-y’know, we might be in the middle of nowhere, but i doubt the cops are gonna be too thrilled if they stop us.” he rambles even though no one seems to be listening. “guys, are you serious? you could lose your license, spence. what if they lock us up? my mom will legitimately fly all the way from new york to disown me.” still, he lets the other two drag him along.
after a quick goodbye to the other two, the three of them are on the way out of the party, holding hands, nola grinning like an overly excited child. stephan keeps babbling, sharing his paranoia with the world, but nola doesn’t seem to be having any of it. none of it is killing the mood. if anything, it’s a little funny how overly worried the boy can get, even going as far as taking things out of context, overexaggerating. the whole time, she decides to say nothing, occasionally glancing over at him, offering a small smile that answers none of his questions. once they’re at the car, nola separates herself from the pack, opening the passenger door and holding it for stephan. when he takes a seat, hesitant as always, she closes the door, waves and proceeds to take her spot in the back of the pick-up truck.
Spencer just squeezed Stephs hand and followed Nolas lead, his best friend would tire himself out soon enough. They got downstairs to his truck with literally a barrage of questions that just kept tugging at the sides of his lips, curling them up in a bright smile. Nola was in the back of the truck, as he walked around he shot the brunette a wink and coy grin, holding out his hand for her to place hers within. He opened the drivers side door, pulled the top of her hand to his lips, kissed it softly and got in the truck. “you ready darlin?” he asked her before closing the door. He turned to Steph, deciding to finally answer every question he had posed, he had mentally cataloged all of them. “we are going to smoke a joint under the stars, I had two beers two hours ago, I am well below the legal limit, I am pretty much sober, no one is going to stop us, I promise to take care of you, and your mom wont have to come out, I promise, he put his hand on Stephs knee. “trust me, I have never led you astray” he said giving his thigh a gentle squeeze before letting his truck roar to life, and the dust kick up under his tires as he pulled out of the drive way.
