New Orleans was so much different than the place she usually resided in ( new york ). Oni could feel the MAGIC in the air, she could feel the HISTORY in the ground below her feet and most importantly she just KNEW she was going to find the answers she was looking for. 

It wasn’t hard to find what she was looking for. It wasn’t a place but a woman. Oni had heard a lot of things about her -- some good and some bad but Oni didn’t believe in listening to everything you heard on the streets. She was a firm believer in drawing one’s own conclusions about someone. You never should judge a book by it’s cover.

She looked down at the scribbled message on her hand. “Marie Laveau.” That is who she was looking for. A woman who said that she could help unlock something very important to Oni.

Oni comes from a place where nature is worshipped. You only take what you need and you give thanks for what you take. You do not kill without purpose, you do not overstock and you surely do not hunt for fun. You do what you need & that is it.

Oni has superhuman strength, faster reflexes and can speak with animals as well as plants. This does not mean they obey her, though. She can merely communicate with them. 

Oni has something that her people called Earth Reading. Being able to place her palm to the earth -- locating things, feeling what was there before her and seeing visions through the terrain between her fingers. This would come in handy with hunting back on her homeworld.

          She set her brush down, even though she still thought her perfectly in place hairs were somehow not brushed enough. “Ok sorry, I didn’t mean to hold you up.” Her appearance was just incredibly important. It was a good day when she was given a free tea. who didn’t like tea? Especially warm tea, something that soothed even the smallest upset mood. But, Oni wasn’t going to drink both so she glanced around her, picked out a stranger and dangled the cup in the air in front of their face. ‘ i won a free tea today. i was thinking of sharing, would you care for it? ‘

usually, Oni wouldn’t come through this part of town until later in the evening but she had gotten off work a little earlier than usual. but, icy eyes seem to find a disruption that wasn’t happening to far from her path. Someone was being cornered by a rather large dog -- it seemed the other was being bullied. Oni didn’t waste any time making her way over, boots clicking on the concrete in a determined manner. She stood behind the tiny redhead, staring the dog down. 

    ‘ Go. ‘ her voice was stern with authority. the dog did not take any time putting its tail between its legs and turning tail to run. She sighs. ‘ Are you alright? Please don’t hold it against him, he was only having a bad day. ‘
