glinda is g*y (yuck) but elphaba is the one who said i love you to glinda despite there being some production rule that they weren't allowed to say love in oz. elphaba was breaking the rules of the movie she was in because it was so important that she said i love you to glinda. something deeply truly insane about the love between two women being so powerful it transcends the confines of narrative

the fun thing about Elphaba (as someone who went through #religioustrauma around being gay) is that besides being deprived of a healthy parental figure (therefore developing an anxious attachment style), you could also theorize that she, herself had some level of internalized homophobia because of her religious upbringing. Just sayin'.

elphaba turning to religious imagery of st glinda but turning away from the actual glinda is so. like she's so terrified of losing the real glinda or being rejected by her (re: caprice in the pines). she's scared of glinda ending up like melena (dissatisfied depressed socialite) or fiyero (dead by association), but she's also scared of facing the glinda she left behind for fear that she's lost her to high society (a fear that's seemingly confirmed in their colwen grounds reunion). she turns her back on glinda and goes to st glinda for comfort so she won't have to feel rejected by her again

Abuelita: Mother-daughter cry your eyes movies

Zoey: oh god-

Mira: Zoey Get your ass over here and join the hug!!

Zoey: Coming (sighs knowing she's going to be consoling them for the next two hours)
