if we ever got another bruce wayne surprise!-biological-child their mom should be someone in gotham. vicki vale or silver st. cloud, an old school sometimes love interest like that. i think the idea of a woman raising bruce's child directly under his nose is soooo funny
if i had a nickel for every time a comic introduced an edgy teen vigilante who's a clone of someone, had white hair, and was experimented on before being forgotten and ignored by every other creative i would have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

i haven't read tooooo many nubia comics (other than the two stephanie williams minis and the trial of the amazons stuff) but my honest truth is that the children's graphic novel diana and nubia: princesses of the amazon is like... kinda the perfect origin for our twins to actually be twins
the long and short of that story: in two different worlds there are two different girls being raised as princess of themyscira by hippolyta and phillipus - both diana and nubia. but both of the girls are very lonely as the only children in all of themyscira, and they make a wish to the goddess hera to have a friend their own age. granting them this, she mixes their universes together, and the next day the girls wake up to another bed and another person in their bedroom, and neither of their moms seems shocked. they keep calling them sisters.
trials and tribulations happen and the girls bond, but i just think that's such a fun idea to have diana and nubia be semi-raised together. in the story, the universes merging has one big consequence: there now has to be only one wonder woman, and there are two women who are both destined for it. i think that could be really fun to work through in different ways
anyway, diana and nubia are the twins ever and i love them so much. i miss them </3
in My heart, dick grayson is an olympian. he doesn't compete as an american (because he's... not american) but he also doesn't feel any connection to the country he was born in (serbia, but they only stayed long enough for his mom to physically recover from giving birth before moving on). so instead he competes under the generic "olympics" flag, and both he and bruce have to answer so many insufferable questions from paparazzi about it
his rings are tattooed on the inside of his left bicep, and just to be extra careful he usually wraps that arm in a layer of bandages before he suits up. he's had some close calls, but never actually had the rings revealed when he's nightwing. bruce nags him about it constantly anyway
people (on dctwt specifically) are so insistent that stephanie doesn't see bruce as a father figure, that bruce doesn't see her as a daughter, that i feel like they miss the infinitely more tragic truth - stephanie wanted bruce to be a father figure for her but he rejected her
she looked up to batman so much, admired what he did for gotham and tried to follow in his footsteps. she had a terrible relationship with her own father and was brave enough to work directly against him. but every time she tried to get help from bruce, any mentorship, he rejected and insulted her
and eventually she stops trying - once she becomes batgirl, she's basically done with him. she's not looking for his approval, or his help. but now he's the one keeping an eye on her - putting together plans with cass to make sure she's taken care of, going to her directly to make amends. but it's too late now. she's already grown without him
This is a direct sequel to my post rewriting the Esquecida, so this will make very little sense without that
Aella was one of the Amazons on Themyscira who chose to join the Bana-Mighdall, always wanting to reach further and see more. When she wasn't able to find what she wanted even with the Bana-Mighdall, she chose to make her journey away from the Amazons. As a starting point, she decided she'd chase the old stories about the Esquecida and follow what they knew of the path Lysithea had taken. She was the first Amazon to try this in 300 years, but she was incredibly eager and determined.
During her journey and against her better judgment, Aella fell for a beautiful man named Quri who she met in Brazil. She felt swept away by him, despite her caution about men. After she fell pregnant and told Quri, he revealed his true identity as a Yacuruna and his plan to abduct Aella and force her to live with him and his other monstrous people. Aella refused, and they battled. After defeating him, Jaci appeared to Aella and invited her to the Icamiabas, offering her safety and shelter.
Aella was welcomed with open arms and gave birth to her daughter, Yara of Akahim, nine months later. Yara was the first baby ever born in Akahim, and therefore the only child raised among the Icamiabas from birth.
When Yara was just eight years old, their people were attacked by what seemed to be a battalion of Greeks, both monster and god. Yara snuck into battle behind her mother, but was struck down by the god Ares. When Aella threw herself over her daughter, she was murdered by the god. Before he could kill Yara, other soldiers came to their rescue. The Icamiabas were able to drive back the Greeks, though not without extreme loss to their people
Yara does not leave Akahim. She's raised by the other Icamiabas and stays with them.
Over a decade later, when Yara is chosen as a potential Champion by Hera, she views it as an extreme disrespect. She does not worship the goddess, does not want to worship the goddess, and already holds a pretty big grudge against the Greeks. To be forced to train with Greek legends (because she can't turn down a god), as though all her training with Brazilian legends wasn't enough, is an insult. Adding on to the dubious consent of the relationship with Eros and her pre-existing loathing of Ares, Yara grows to hold deep and great contempt for the Greek pantheon in spite of her connection with the Amazons.
This is part of why she'll later reject the title of Wonder Girl so strongly. Not only does she feel like she's being seen as a child being called "girl", but she also sees Wonder Girl as being directly associated with Wonder Woman, who's directly associated with the Greeks. While Yara is incredibly grateful to Diana for the vote of confidence and offer of mentorship, she can't stand that connection for very long, and it's only her sense of responsibility that keeps her from shirking it immediately.
During Trial of the Amazons, Yara is chosen as the connection between all three tribes because of her mother's connection to the Amazons. Although Yara is pure Icamiaba, she's more connected to Themyscira than any of her sisters, and her curiosity makes her a good envoy.
When Lyta Milton comes around and Yara can give up the title of WG, she takes on the new name Campeã. In part, it's a reclimation - she's taking back the title from Hera, embracing her Amazonian heritage, and proclaiming herself the defender of her people. While she does still live in Akahim, she's a frequent protector of Brazil and often travels to Themyscira. Think about how Wonder Woman sort of just shows up wherever she's needed? Yara is like that, but her home base is absolutely Brazil.
Disclaimer: I'm not indigenous or Brazilian. My goal with this post/this version of the worldbuilding in my google docs is to make the Esquecida less inconsiderate of the real-world culture they're based on, so please let me know what I might have gotten wrong/what's racist or insensitive
Starting off with this: "Esquecida" is the Amazon/Themysciran and Bana-Mighdall name for these people, but they call themselves the Icamiabas
Centuries ago, a young Guarani woman named Porâsý defeated one of the world's Legendary Monsters through trickery, rallying her entire tribe to storm the beast. Before it could be killed, she was abandoned by her people and her brother, left to die from her injuries. Jaci, the powerful goddess of the moon, took mercy on her and saved her life by gifting her immortality. Porâsý chose not to return to her people and instead lived in many different places across the Amazon, worshipping Jaci.
Years later, a Themysciran Amazon named Lysithea decided that she no longer wanted to live on the island. She traveled across the world, intentionally keeping a low profile - made easier by the fact that she lost her Amazonian powers when she left Themyscira. She eventually found her way to uncolonized Brazil, where she was attacked by a Legendary Monster. Porâsý came to her defense, as she had made it her mission to defend innocents from the monsters. After their victory the women began to talk and share stories. Learning of Porâsý's history and missing her own home, Lysithea begged to be introduced to her goddess. Through many other acts of bravery, Lysithea was able to prove herself and be granted the same powers as Porâsý from their now shared patron.
Porâsý and Lysithea grew very close, seeing each other as partners in every sense of the word. As time went on, they slowly added more and more women to their growing community. Porâsý would accept any woman who was outcast or abandoned, but that woman would need Jaci's blessing to be granted immortality. The most common way to earn this blessing was through battle, a sure-fire way to prove yourself as worthy of eternal life.
The Esquecida eventually became a bit of a legend for Theymscirans. Everyone knew that Lysithea had left for man's world, though they were extremely concerned when she never came back. A few other women left to look for her - two of them found her, staying with the Icamiabas, while another three never found her. Only one of them found the Icamiabas and returned to tell the story to the Themyscirans, from which the story only grew. For centuries, a few Amazons with the travel-bug would leave to travel the world in search specifically of the Esquecida. Though for the Icamiabas to be truly revealed, the Amazon would need to be acknowledged and accepted by Jaci, at which point the goddess would not allow them to leave with their memories fully intact. After centuries of development of their culture, Jaci grew to only accept the defeat of an evil man or monster as worthy proof of her blessing and patronage.
As time went on, fewer and fewer Amazons left for the Esquecida. Since only one had ever returned, many assumed that after the women left they met their end somewhere on their journey. The idea of the Esquecida drifted into legend, a story for people fresh from the well of souls, or children in Bana-Mighdall.
The home of the Icamiabas is a city called Akahim. It's beneath the waters of Iguazu Falls, protected by the spirit of Naipi. She was once a young woman who was forcefully engaged to the god M'Boi and ran from him to change her fate, though before she could escape M'Boi, he changed her into a waterfall to trap her. Angry at her eternal fate, Naipi would kill anyone who fell into her waters and often reached out intentionally to swallow cruel men whole. Learning what the Icamiabas prioritized, she was more than willing to allow them shelter beneath her waters. Jaci granted them a home, and they settled permanently.
Porâsý is the Queen of the Icamiabas, with Lysithea as her advisor. The Icamiabas are divorced from the Greek pantheon almost entirely, which is a major point of conflict between them and their fellow Amazons when they reconnect. While those of Bana-Mighdall praise Egyptian gods, they still acknowledge and respect the Greeks, while the Icamiabas have turned completely to the Brazilian gods.
Lin Zor-El / Linda Kent. The older twin sister of Mae. She's the Bronze Age and Silver Age Supergirl, the CW TV show Supergirl, the "she's basically Clark Kent but a woman" Supergirl, the 2025 Supergirl ongoing Supergirl. She takes the mantle of Superwoman in my universe instead, and adjusts to Earth life the best out of her sisters. She takes the human name of Linda.
Mae Zor-El / Mae Kent. The younger twin sister of Lin. She's the Peter David Supergirl, the white crop top Supergirl, the alternate universe merged Supergirl/Matrix. She's very similar to Linda until she's 17/18 years old, which is when she's merged with the alternate universe version of herself in almost a Venom way. She goes through an extreme spiral, temporarily losing her way and causing harm, but eventually steadies herself and takes on the name Matrix.
Kara Zor-El / Kara Kent. The youngest daughter of Alura and Zor-El. She's the Woman of Tomorrow Supergirl, the Supergirl 2005 Supergirl, the World's Finest 2022 Supergirl. She struggles the most with human life and often struggles with consistency in all aspects of her life. She takes the name Supergirl.
There's no orphanage in this story, so there's also no Danvers. In this universe the girls were all taken in by Ma and Pa Kent, just like Clark.
if you haven't read "who is wonder girl?" yet can you even call yourself a titans fan....
i know it's sort of complicated but i so so wish the titan origin stayed donna's mainline origin. i'm gonna share my slight rewrite of it below :)
Donna was born to the humans Lou Casas and Dorothy Hinckley in Gateway City. Her father abandoned her mother when she was just an infant, and her mother surrendered her daughter to a hospital. Before she could be adopted, Donna was chosen by the Titan Phoebe.
She was then taken to the planet New Chronus, where the Titans were living in exile. She, along with eleven other infants, made up the Titan Seeds. They were each adopted by a Titan and guided through childhood, taught the ways of the ancient Titans and Greeks, and given powers corresponding with their respective parents.
When she was 10 years old, Phoebe sent Donna to Earth – each of the other Titan Seeds receiving the same treatment, sent to their home planets with amnesia.
Donna was dropped back into Gateway City and sent rocketing into an apartment building, starting a fire. She was saved by Diana, who quickly recognized that this young girl was speaking Ancient Greek. Donna could remember her history at this point, though amnesia was settling in further with every moment. By the time she had been taken to Themyscira and presented to Hippolyta, she could only convey her relationship to the Titans, but none of the specifics.
She was quickly taken under Diana’s wing, and the older Amazon took Donna on as a sidekick to teach her both the ways of the Amazons and of man’s world. As Wonder Girl, Donna worked alongside Wonder Woman to save people from any number of natural and man-made disasters. She went on to found the Teen Titans alongside Robin and Aquaboy and was the one to choose their name.
While Diana drifted in and out of Donna’s life, often a very distant sister and mentor, Donna was able to maintain a strong relationship with Hippolyta and Phillipus, while continuing to grow closer to her friends from man’s world.
i think every batfamily fan has a different new name for tim drake to take after robin, so i figured i'd share mine real quick
tim drake: robin → red robin → robin → hawkshaw!
i like hawkshaw for a couple reasons:
it's got that same campiness that i feel like is really necessary for superhero names. "nightwing" and "red hood" aren't exactly intimidating on their own
"hawk" keeps it in the bird family
the word "hawkshaw" is old-timey slang for a detective. and, well... hello....... tim is a detective lmao. also i like the idea that rich people in gotham talk like they're from aprox. 100 years ago, so i can see tim having heard this word from his parents and all the other batkids being like ???
anyways.... "cardinal" has too much of a connection to religion for me, and the birds themselves are too small to make for a good adult superhero name imo. "red robin" was fine for a very specific time in tim's life, but i don't like it long term for him. so this is just my idea :)
